The Review

About a few months back, I got the chance to upgrade my mouse along with my laptop. I chose this QZ20 because it's close design and function to MX Master 3S. One of the feature that this mouse has is the thumb scroll wheel that lets us to zoom in and out seamlessly. Since these days I work with map and parcels, that feature makes my job so much faster. I can zoom in and out faster now.

The price of this Rexus QZ20 is less 50% less than MX logitech and it's worth it for the price offered. So far, I have not found any issues and the battery lasts for more than 2 months in single charging. To be fair, compared to my previous logitech, this one in terms of price is one of the most expensive mouse I've ever had in my entire life.

However, the price is justified as it helps me with my job as well as that it doesn't rely on battery at all which can be quite annoying when your job requires you to travel into remote areas. And this year, I am back into monochrome aesthetic because that helps me focus more and avoid less eye distraction when I work.

Can you play game game with it? Well, arguably but it has quite decent latency. I don't play as many games as before but the other day, I tested it and works just fine. So, if you see this one in your neighborhood store or online, this one is worth getting. It's also best to bring around to work in public as it's very silent and doesn't have that clicky sound that other people might find annoying.

The flick side and left right are indeed convenient especially now that I have to go back and forth when editing documents. It makes my job and productivity significantly faster as well. Now, I really think that investing to things that makes your life easier is worth it than investing on things that don't really bring anything into your life. But also adjust your budget because for instance, if I have more budget, I would have bought the actual MX than this one. For now, this one is the one that was fitting the budget 😄

As my approach to tech recently is making things more seamless and minimalistic. I don't have scarcity mindset anymore that I have to hoard or constantly do meaningless upgrade. So, yeah you won't be seeing more tech upgrades from me soon. I don't even dream to do it unless something I have is broken/missing.

Did you know you can get free stuff from 3D printing companies just by doing the things you normally would do anyway?

On Bambu Lab's MakerWorld I have gotten free PLA filament and their electronics kits. I have enough on the Prusa equivalent to get some free filament or resin.

To get you started, just completing your user profile gets you a bunch of reward points.

Of course this is all to promote usage and materials within the companies own ecosystems, but as I say we get rewarded for doing things we probably would do already.

The main way I have been rewarded is from uploading 3D models, which I did for years on Thingiverse until it became pretty poop. Now on MakerWorld I get reward points that I can cash in for gift cards.

You don't have to upload models, though, as MakerWorld encourages you to upload tested print profiles to models too. The more people who use your profile to print, the more points you get. Think how many times you downloaded a model or sent something to print but you realised there were better ways to orient or configure the print for speed or quality?

If you are on MakerWorld, let's connect!

In a video, the Chinese company Agibot showcases its new humanoid performing tasks that typically require direct human interaction. In a hotel setting, it greets guests, hands out access cards, and escorts visitors; in commercial establishments, it assists customers, presents products, and interacts with other robots; and at a car dealership, it explains vehicle features and helps attend to buyers.

The company aims to demonstrate that humanoids can begin taking on roles outside of factories—in environments where they must navigate spaces and interact with people. Some of these tasks appear simple only when performed by a human; handing over a card requires identifying the person, locating the object, and coordinating hand movements. Escorting someone involves traversing corridors, finding the right path, and navigating obstacles, while retail service requires interpreting requests that vary from one customer to the next. Agibot claims the A3 Ultra can perform various tasks autonomously and collaborate with other machines; however, promotional videos alone do not reveal how long it can operate without human intervention or which scenes involved supervision or remote control.

Now, the company is attempting to scale up this proposal. In September, AgiBot announced a partnership with the Chimelan Group to deploy over 300 robots at a resort complex in China. The project encompasses applications ranging from visitor guidance and entertainment to education, retail, and hospitality services. Rather than simply showcasing a humanoid performing an isolated task, the initiative brings together various types of robots in a public-facing environment; however, there is a significant difference between deploying hundreds of machines and proving they can operate reliably throughout an entire workday.

A hotel cannot halt service every time a robot encounters an unexpected situation; a retail store must contend with children, misplaced items, and customers making highly varied requests; and a humanoid navigating among people needs to know when to stop, ask for help, or simply decline to execute a command. These challenges differ vastly from those encountered in an arena setting or a dance performance. Then there is the economic factor: the "H" model is listed at approximately $89,000 in a commercial offer cited by industry media.

To justify an investment of that magnitude, it is not enough for a robot to simply execute a task in front of cameras; it must perform it consistently, safely, and at a cost that makes sense for the end user. Nevertheless, what we are witnessing in 2026 represents a significant shift in how these machines are being developed.

In previous instances, we saw a humanoid facing off against a man inside a cage, robots fighting one another, and AI systems beginning to plan movements while an operator selected each action; now, we find these same technologies being developed for environments where people work, shop, and spend their lives. Perhaps the greatest challenge for humanoids is not learning to fight, dance, or carry objects, but learning to do all of that in a world that was not designed for them. After all, if these machines truly begin to populate hotels, stores, and eventually our own homes, an inevitable question arises: What will it be like to live alongside robots capable of acting on their own? And what can we expect from this evolution over the next 5, 10, or 25 years?

This post isn't about the typical tech showcase seen at a robotics expo; instead, it focuses on the *America's Got Talent* finale in September 2026, where Chinese dancer Yufei Wu featured Unitree humanoids in a performance blending traditional movements, dance, and human-machine coordination. The group had already garnered attention in earlier rounds of the show with acrobatics, leaps, and martial arts-inspired moves.

There is a crucial detail behind all that synchrony: to teach the choreography to the robots, engineers captured human movements, processed the data in simulations, and fine-tuned the sequences until the machines could replicate them. Once prepared, multiple humanoids can execute the same movements in unison; however, this does not mean they are improvising or making every decision on their own.

The performance relies on carefully planned choreography, and that is precisely where the next challenge arises. It is one thing to have eight robots dance on stage where every movement has been pre-planned, but it is something else entirely to have a humanoid operate in an environment where no one is following a script—yet that is exactly what many Chinese tech companies are attempting to achieve.

Anyone working with US–Cuba trade rules has to consult sources that live apart: Treasury's OFAC regulations (31 CFR 515 and the new part 516), Commerce's export rules (15 CFR 746.2 and part 740), the State Department's §515.582 list of goods that may be imported, and the sanctions list of designated individuals/entities. I had separate trackers for all these, each with its own interface. My ultimate goal, now fulfilled working exclusively with Claude's Sonnet 5.5 model: one suite, one coherent look.

What the hub does

Reads regulation text from the eCFR, keeps a dated cache on disk, and compares versions over time.

Monitors entities designated under Executive Order 14404 through a small Python sidecar.

Checks the §515.582 list by product category and covers services supplied by independent entrepreneurs.

The Claude-designed stack is deliberately plain: Node 22 and Express 5, vanilla JavaScript with hash routing, and the Python standard library for the sanctions monitor; no front-end framework.

Two design decisions worth sharing

1. The §515.582 list is an exclusion list: it blocks certain sections and chapters of the US tariff schedule (HTS), and everything else is allowed. So the tool stores only the rules and computes each answer from them. The selector follows the official order of the 21 current HTS sections, checked against the USITC's public API at most once every 24 hours:

// simplified from lib/hts-schema.js
const DAY = 24 * 3600 * 1000;
if (!force && state.checkedAt && now() - state.checkedAt < DAY)
    return { checked: false }; // checked less than 24 h ago: zero network calls

2. One regulatory section from 15 CFR 740 refused to render. The layout engine assumed outline markers run perfectly in sequence: (a), (b), (1), (2)... A single repeated marker made it give up on the whole section. Claude fixed this with graded tolerance: strict first, then gaps, then repeats:

if (v === last + 1) out.push({ depth: d, val: v });
else if (level >= 1 && v > last + 1) out.push({ depth: d, val: v, gap: true });
else if (level >= 2 && v === last) out.push({ depth: d, val: v, dup: true });

Thus, only a section with many anomalies falls back to plain, unindented text.

Working (again) with Claude

The loop was simple: I described the goal, Claude wrote the code and ran its tests, and I opened the app and tried to break it. That is where I mattered most. I noticed that a selector did not follow the official order of tariff sections, that a link to a government PDF pointed to the wrong section, and that the CACR's annual edition files were still being fetched online instead of read from the local cache. Claude fixed each one and caught some of its own mistakes too: a keyword list that would have steered users to the wrong regulatory section.

Usage Projections

My intention now is to monetize this "Cuba Regulations Hub" as part of the consulting and training services I want to offer through my university's tech transfer company. Potential clients are SMEs, whether software companies or businesses generally engaged in importing and exporting goods and services, as well as self-employed individuals interested in opportunities offered by general licenses and license exceptions enabled by OFAC and BIS, respectively. I will keep you posted on this and other developments closely tied to this knowledge-based, technology-intensive business strategy.

There is no better trial for the tools I have built over the past months than a real change in the regulations I follow as a researcher of U.S. policy toward Cuba.

This week OFAC made substantive amendments to the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (CACR), the rules in force since 1963 through which it administers the core of the comprehensive sanctions on the island (Federal Register, Sept. 30, 2026). I wanted to confirm that my update mechanism could handle that change, and it did. The monitoring service, a Node server, noticed that the Federal Register had published the amendments before eCFR reflected them, and it kept that gap visible in the interface. Then eCFR activated the changes at around 6:30 pm on October 1. The server downloaded the modified sections from the eCFR API on its own, cached them, and added them to my local archive.

The part that made it interesting: a new Part

The same day, OFAC created the Cuba Sanctions Regulations (CSR), now codified at 31 CFR Part 516 (Federal Register notice). They implement Executive Order 14404, which OFAC reproduces as an appendix to the new part. The regulations are published in abbreviated form, are separate from Part 515, and OFAC says it intends to supplement them later.

This is a different problem from amending a section. On September 30, Part 516 did not exist in eCFR, and it will not appear in an annual CFR edition until next year. I could not simply reuse my Part 515 logic of calling the eCFR API, because there was nothing to call yet. So the tracker needed two phases behind one interface.

Phase 1: read the Federal Register. The server downloads the official XML of the publication (91 FR 61748, document 2026-19977) and converts every section into the same
DIV8
structure that eCFR uses. The frontend parses it exactly as it parses an eCFR section, so the page does not know the difference. One detail cost me some attention: in the XML, Appendix A (the Executive Order) sits inside the last section element, § 516.513. If you do not cut it out, the order shows up as part of that section.

// The appendix header arrives inside the last SECTION (§ 516.513):
// everything after it belongs to the appendix, not to the section.
const cut = kids.findIndex(k => k.type === 'tag' && k.name.toUpperCase() === 'HD'
    && /^Appendix\b/i.test(tidyText($(k).text())));
const secNodes = cut >= 0 ? kids.slice(0, cut) : kids;

Phase 2: hand over to eCFR. While the server is in Phase 1, it asks the eCFR versions API every 30 minutes whether Part 516 has any sections. If the answer is empty, it keeps serving the Federal Register copy. When sections appear, it downloads the whole part in a single call, replaces the Federal Register snapshots with eCFR's, rebuilds the index, and switches its source flag. After that, it checks every four hours for later amendments. The original XML stays on disk as an untouched record of the publication.

const resp = await axios.get(
    `${ECFR_API_BASE}/versions/title-31.json?subtitle=B&chapter=V&part=${PART}`,
    { ...FR_UA_HEADERS, timeout: 30000, validateStatus: s => s < 500 });
cv = (resp.status === 200 && resp.data && Array.isArray(resp.data.content_versions))
    ? resp.data.content_versions : [];
// ... keep only entries whose part is '516' ...
if (ids.length === 0) {
    state.ecfr.hasPart = false;
    saveState();
    return false; // not in eCFR yet: keep serving the Federal Register copy
}
// ... otherwise download the full part at its latest version date
// and set state.source = 'ecfr'

const ms = state.source === 'ecfr' ? SETTLED_CHECK_MS : PENDING_CHECK_MS; // 4 h : 30 min

The page follows the server. A small polling loop compares a key made of the current source, the version hash, and the number of pending documents. When the key changes, the open view reloads itself, index and section included, so I do not have to refresh anything.

const key = `${st.source}|${st.versionKey || ''}|${(st.pendingDocs || []).length}`;
const changed = _status516Key !== null && key !== _status516Key;

The interface now has one tab for Part 515 and one for Part 516. The 516 tab shows where the text currently comes from (Federal Register or eCFR), links to the official PDF, and lists any later Federal Register documents that eCFR has not consolidated yet. When eCFR took over, the source label changed with it.

The first humanoid robot with autonomous planning

In the footage, a G1 humanoid wearing red gloves faces off against a human trainer wearing protective gear; the man approaches, moving his arms and attempting to land a few blows, while the robot shifts its stance, adjusts its footing, dodges, and counters with punches and kicks. However, the difference compared to previous encounters lies not in the force of the blows, but in who decides the next move. According to Unitree, the G1 was controlled by Unifold LMX2 1.0, a new AI model developed to interpret the environment and plan physical actions in real-time—without teleoperation or a pre-programmed sequence of movements.

The system employs an approach known as a "world model"; rather than simply receiving a command to raise an arm or take a step, it analyzes unfolding events and attempts to predict how the situation might change in the immediate future. If the opponent advances, for instance, the model must consider their trajectory, assess its own body position, and select a response—all without delay. While a standard computer program might take seconds to formulate a response, a system engaged in physical movement must react before the opponent completes their strike.

Furthermore, every action alters the situation the system has just analyzed; when the G1 lifts a leg to kick, its center of gravity shifts. If the trainer moves during that interval, the robot must reconsider its intended action. It is this cycle—observing, predicting, acting, and observing again—that Unitree aims to demonstrate with its new model; however, there is an important distinction to be made. The demonstration was released by the manufacturer itself; there is no independent evaluation yet to verify the system's performance under various conditions, and the footage does not fully clarify how much processing took place within the robot versus how much may have relied on external computers. Therefore, we are not dealing with a machine that dominates any type of combat or is capable of operating safely in any environment.

What Unitree showcased was a demonstration of autonomous planning in highly dynamic physical scenarios—ranging from human-robot interactions to robot-versus-robot combat. The G1 is not the company's only fighting model; as the footage reveals, the firm is already developing a larger, more sophisticated version: the G2. This is perhaps where the technology’s most interesting aspect lies, as learning to react to an adversary involves more than just learning to fight. A robot capable of tracking movements, adjusting its trajectory, and regaining its balance is developing capabilities that are equally valuable for navigating crowds, dodging obstacles, or handling objects in constantly changing environments.

However, there is a vast difference between facing a trainer wearing protective gear and sharing space with people who are not part of an experiment. It is outside the arena that this new generation of humanoids faces its next challenge; in September, eight Unitree robots shared the stage with human dancers on one of the United States' biggest talent shows.

Meanwhile, another Chinese company has begun introducing humanoids designed to work in hotels, retail stores, and car dealerships. The question is no longer just whether these machines can move independently, but rather: what happens when they start moving among us?
