Hello, Hive Fam!

I hope life is treating you well wherever you are in the world.

It's going to be almost a year since I purchased my car, and since then, I have done many trips in my car. All these are road trips, and I have gone to the places which I have never been, but all thanks to the Android Auto application, which makes my navigation experience amazing! I don't need to worry much about the location since I know that Google Map is there, which can help me get the route and make it a very convenient journey.

My car has got wireless connectivity for Android Auto, so all I need is to have an app on my phone. It connects wirelessly to my car's stereo system, and I can see the navigation on a bigger screen, so I don't need to hang the phone for that.

Google Map is a very popular application which is available on every Android mobile phone, and I have been using it for a very long time. I don't even remember when I started using it, but I can say that it's been so many years!

I had no idea that Google Map integration through Android Auto can be such a fantastic experience while driving! It is not just the map, but even the phone functions are available on the connected screen through the car. There is no need for me to check my phone while driving, and it is safe because I get all the phone calls while driving. I can also see who is messaging me, along with music, which I can enjoy, and, of course, the navigation makes it a great bundle of features through Android Auto. Technology is really so advanced, and I think there are many things which I am still not aware of. Since I have been driving for about 10 months, I'm happy with the Android Auto experience, and it is fabulous!

It offers great convenience because the moment I turn on the ignition of my car, my phone gets connected automatically, and I get a notification on the screen. I have also seen some of my friends using Android Auto on their cars through wired connectivity, so they need to connect the wire to the phone, which may not be such a good option. I'm glad that the one I have received is wireless, which is really good, and I do not need to do anything! Thank you.

When Fake Videos Become Someone’s Nightmare

Recently there has been a lot of hype about AI actually not just recently it has been going on before that too for the last two years since AI started becoming more public ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini and many other apps that people are now using regularly. There are restrictions given in these properly good guidelines are given too but whether they are actually there properly or not I have no idea but as far as I know if AI is given any weird command then it does not accept it.

Anyway there are some people who are of a very bad mindset who use AI to make pictures of people make videos and that too disgusting pictures they are removing someone's clothes making obscene videos about someone that they did not do. Something like this happened in Bangladesh a female content creator who used to do TikTok regularly and had a lot of fan following suddenly a video of hers went viral where it was seen that she was taking off her clothes and doing obscene things. So when the video went viral people naturally assumed that it was a real video no one thought that it could be AI because apparently it looked real. I actually do not watch these kinds of videos or I actually remove them I never want to see such distorted videos. I am only saying this based on what people said and the comments since it was also in the news.

So later the girl whose video had gone viral went to the police station and filed a GD and showed her original video at the police station. In the original video she did not do the things that were shown in the obscene video after she filed the GD the police traced the location and managed to catch the person who made this video. He was arrested and the court took steps to punish him. So the question is can AI be blamed for this? I would say no because this is a technology it cannot work on its own obviously someone has to give a command and then it does some work now if someone uses AI to harm another person then that is very bad.

I think instead of making AI public it should be limited to the government then most of the crimes will decrease. Otherwise ordinary people will become victims like this and I think using AI should be made illegal only using it for taking ideas or for work purposes should be permitted. Other than that creating images with these should be stopped. People can do anything in the name of freedom so if restrictions are not given then people will go crazy and do everything. Think about that girl that content creator how traumatized she must have become. What would the people who saw such a video think about her and what would her family members think or what things would her relatives have said to her. Although the video was fake the body part shown in the video looked real with that girl's face to everyone now that is what people will remember even though that body part did not belong to that girl.

The girl was brave so she is still creating content and she is moving on forgetting the past but not everyone is mentally that strong many people can take the wrong step when these things happen. So to save our people we definitely need to reduce the use of AI. I still will not blame AI I am blaming people for this and that is why I am saying it is better not to put AI in the hands of such people. Such strict measures should be taken so that AI does not reach everyone.

My 31 CFR 515 monitor updated smoothly, and I added a second one for the Sept. 30-born 31 CFR 516

A live test, at last. There is no better trial for the tools I have built over the past months than a real change in the regulations I follow as a researcher of U.S. policy toward Cuba.

This week OFAC made substantive amendments to the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (CACR), the rules in force since 1963 through which it administers the core of the comprehensive sanctions on the island (Federal Register, Sept. 30, 2026). I wanted to confirm that my update mechanism could handle that change, and it did. The monitoring service, a Node server, noticed that the Federal Register had published the amendments before eCFR reflected them, and it kept that gap visible in the interface. Then eCFR activated the changes at around 6:30 pm on October 1. The server downloaded the modified sections from the eCFR API on its own, cached them, and added them to my local archive.

The part that made it interesting: a new Part

The same day, OFAC created the Cuba Sanctions Regulations (CSR), now codified at 31 CFR Part 516 (Federal Register notice). They implement Executive Order 14404, which OFAC reproduces as an appendix to the new part. The regulations are published in abbreviated form, are separate from Part 515, and OFAC says it intends to supplement them later.

This is a different problem from amending a section. On September 30, Part 516 did not exist in eCFR, and it will not appear in an annual CFR edition until next year. I could not simply reuse my Part 515 logic of calling the eCFR API, because there was nothing to call yet. So the tracker needed two phases behind one interface.

Phase 1: read the Federal Register. The server downloads the official XML of the publication (91 FR 61748, document 2026-19977) and converts every section into the same DIV8 structure that eCFR uses. The frontend parses it exactly as it parses an eCFR section, so the page does not know the difference. One detail cost me some attention: in the XML, Appendix A (the Executive Order) sits inside the last section element, § 516.513. If you do not cut it out, the order shows up as part of that section.

Phase 2: hand over to eCFR. While the server is in Phase 1, it asks the eCFR versions API every 30 minutes whether Part 516 has any sections. If the answer is empty, it keeps serving the Federal Register copy. When sections appear, it downloads the whole part in a single call, replaces the Federal Register snapshots with eCFR's, rebuilds the index, and switches its source flag. After that, it checks every four hours for later amendments. The original XML stays on disk as an untouched record of the publication.

The page follows the server. A small polling loop compares a key made of the current source, the version hash, and the number of pending documents. When the key changes, the open view reloads itself, index and section included, so I do not have to refresh anything.

The interface now has one tab for Part 515 and one for Part 516. The 516 tab shows where the text currently comes from (Federal Register or eCFR), links to the official PDF, and lists any later Federal Register documents that eCFR has not consolidated yet. Many years ago, I finally caved and bought a Nokia phone I didn't think I even needed because it came with a free discman. It had snake, and about 10 emojis from memory. You had to keep texts very short as you paid for each one. The discman took AA batteries. I burnt a lot of CD's, the name of the band in permanent marker.

When I went travelling in 2001 I didn't even think to take it with me. We used Easy Everything internet cafes and paid by the 15 minute blocks to email people and find out when the trains were leaving. We printed maps.

When I got my folks to sent the phone to Berlin, realising it might be useful after all, I texted Dad to let him know - what a miracle I could send him a message across the world. His response was the sparse 'ok' which made me laugh - the 2001 version of 👍 used by boomers everywhere.

When I got home I had been gifted Dad's old computer (he used them for drafting, as he was early on the Autocad scene) which was used mainly for finding pirate music and emails. The dial up modem screeched. We worried about downloading viruses with our music. It was also for MSN messenger which seemed like a bloody miracle as I could message travelling buddies from Yucatan to Dublin. I ran up an $800 phone bill to the UK texting Jamie, who I'd just met. I think I just skipped town on that one.

When I did my Arts degree I'd order books from the online uni library and they'd arrive in a post pack. I made a website all about witches. There were a lot of cool websites of 1 to 10 pages in the '90's.

When I moved to the UK I had a digital camera. The SD card would hold about 40 photos and the battery ran out quickly. We had flip phones for a while. I can't recall the first time we had a phone camera. I remember a photo of my nephew coming through via email. It took a long time for a photo to load and I saw his forehead, then his blue eyes, then his chin. I had a Myspace for a minute. I could listen to Melbourne radio in England, but only in real time.

We had a lot of USB sticks, CD's, and mini discs. We threw out the cassettes. We still went up the shop every Saturday for the newspaper and our second hand goods came from the Friday Ads in UK or later The Trading post. Software was downloaded via CDs.

By 2009 we reluctantly signed up for Facebook, as Jamie's sister had begged us to, suggesting we were behind. I bought an iphone. My son had an ipod for his music but I had a Creative Zen which held a whole 20 gb of music, and my husband and I both had minidisc players which we thought were amazing. Like the cassettes of the '80's and '90's, we got busy recording music to listen to in the car via a Belkin radio transmitter. We were still getting DVDs from the video shop - 5 for $10, which was usually 1 new release and four weeklys, and we'd usually find some pretty cool art house films. We watched the whole of the Sopranos on DVD in the bus connected to a solar panel and battery. Jamie said that soon you'd be able to view movies to rent on the internet. I was amazed enough I could order Netflix CD's via the post.

My first Instagram post was of harvested wild apples. Borders were all the rage. We connected to strangers all over the world through single photographs.

Then there was online shopping and paying for streaming services, and 'google' became a verb. You could still read independent reviews, for a while. Battery and data storage got better, and then we had cloud storage and smart TVs and our phone cameras replaced digital cameras. We marvelled at e-readers and digital paper. Music could be streamed online. We could video call on Skype.

I skipped the whole 'tom tom' navigator - it wasn't til smart phones that I stopped reading paper maps.

We stopped bothering with travel agents and booked flights ourselves online. We had Zoom meetings. QR codes. Crypocurrency.

And we stopped searching for information because it searched for us in the form of data mining, pop ups, algorithms. People didn't write blogs, they created content.

AI Has No Intentions. We Do.

If you ask me I will tell you AI isn't the enemy. It is well the users who have chose to do whatever we like with it. And you will agree with me that the way we've been handling AI is just the same way we've been handling almost every invention. We use it for good and we use it for bad. Take a knife for instance, we can use it to chop our onions and make use of it for some other things in the kitchen, but it can as well be used to harm too. Talk about the phone and the Internet too, we can use the phone and in the internet to reach out to people, to connect, to earn legitimately, to build connections and a lot more, but some have as well chosen it to do dubious activities thereby scamming people via it. That is just my own view of AI. Every powerful invention has been used for both good and bad, and that is why I said AI isn't the problem but we the users.

You know the most worrisome part is how I now see people making use of this AI to create explicit images, audios and videos today. I'm talking about images, videos and audios of real people, and you cannot tell me those people gave their consent. To them they felt they're just catching fun, but is that fun. Is destroying someone's life, business, reputation, family, career, relationship and all fun. The internet is a very vast place and you never can tell how far such a video or image may go. It's just the truth, most people even find it hard to differentiate what's AI and what's real.

The way people make use of it today is just so bad, go online now and you will find a lot of AI videos that are not in any way teaching us good morals or anything. To the creators they are just messing around while refusing to see the dangers in what they're doing and how it may affect the life of others. This is just humans for using, while you see some making good use of the invention and doing very great and wonderful things with it, you also see some who cared less, they just go ahead to do whatever with it.

Personally, banning AI or heavily restricting it's usage is not in any way the solution, if that is done we should remember that it won't just affect those who're doing whatever they like with it, it will also affect the millions of people making very good use of it too. AI is helping a lot, I mean a whole lot. You can find it's impact and effectiveness in almost every sector today, talk of education, health, government, industries, in businesses and a lot more. AI is helping to make things easier, faster and all. So we have millions of people making very good use of it, and heavily restricting it would affect those people too.

I believe what we can actually do is to not stop using it, but to stop people from abusing it and using it for whatever they feel like. If rules and regulations are set, it would be of help, and not just set or laid down, but also enforced. If very strong rules about creating harmful content were to be created people who do those things would fear the consequences thereby limiting/stopping what they do with it. Also, we need to enlighten the people, most people just go to school, school didn't go through them, and they need to know that tools like this are powerful and we can't always do whatever it is we like with it.

AI won't work for itself, it won't prompt itself, we're the one prompting it. It is just a tool and has no personal intentions, we're the one prompting our own intentions from behind the screen. AI is a powerful tool, no doubt about that, but I feel there's the need to teach people how to make use of it responsibly too. We can't blame that tool for our bad decisions, not at all, we need to be responsible in it's usage.

Making our efforts more cost effective, you don't want me to go into the details of the cost of designing thumbnails, graphic content, now everyone is a graphic designer. Just imagine it and it shall be done. For people who are quite vast in the knowledge of make use of AI, there are some features that feels like a miracle, especially with automated message advantages for we business owners handling different social media platforms to promote our business. The headache of having to come up with creative messages for every response and replying everyone is overwhelming.

‎The contribution AI has made in our lives is quite magnificent, I once witnessed an engineer create a 3D display of a building using AI, do you know how much people pay to get that done and he just did it without flinching, which is something anyone can do, as long as you have the right imagination.

In this era, it is getting almost impossible to differentiate between what is original and fake. AI in its early stage was used to mimick what is original, which means there is always some sort of inadequacy or a twitch that stands out making what is created by AI obvious. But AI algorithm is getting all kinds of updates, its model is learning, it doesn't mimick original anymore, it creates it. In fact it is almost impossible for AI to detect what is created by AI, that how smart this tool has gotten.

‎AI now pose as a threat to everything we stand for, someone somewhere with criminal or mischievous intent and creative can create all sort of things about anyone or anything without permission. Which means you could be anywhere and someone can create an inappropriate images or videos of you. The videos are the worst, the way it makes everything sound and feel so real is mind blowing. Knowing this is just the beginning, and everyone is now an advocate for the movement "Restriction of AI" but there is something missing in this debate.

‎Elon musk said a long time ago, when he spoke about creating an agency or entity that ensures AI is regulated and act within the confines of the law. But in those days, people could barely see sense in what he was saying. He somehow knew the capabilities of AI will definitely be beyond what humans could control.

‎As a person, I'm not against restricting AI, just to make sure it acts more responsibly. As a media person, I know how much damage misrepresentation of a person, entity or firm can do to their reputation. Which is something AI can do without stressing but the issue is not really the technology but we the users.

‎We humans, arguably are the worst of all plagues that ever walked this earth. We maximize every too capability of max destruction. Chaos and pain is our DNA, it is something we inflict effortlessly. Speak of any tool that has ever been manufactured that we humans have not taken advantage of? there is none.

‎Technology is not going anywhere, either we restrict AI or not, it will keep advancing. But there is something that is not going anywhere anytime, it is we humans. The problem is the users not the tool because as bad as this tool might seem to a lot of people, it is the best we have got in this generation and I'm just glad I lived long enough to see it.

Artificial intelligence, also known as AI, is popular topic at the present time. I believe that it's rare to find some people who are living in this digital world and don’t hear about AI. But it is possible that many people are already using AI while they don't know that they are using it. AI is a powerful tool, and it is making our life easier because with the help of AI we can do many difficult tasks within a short time which can take huge time if we do it manually. At least it's very difficult to imagine a digital world without AI at least at the present time even if it's not impossible.

Everything that comes to us has its advantages and disadvantages and in case of AI it's also the same. It is true that it can work perfectly and complete the task how we instruct. But the fact is that many people are losing their job because AI can do the task of many people within a short time which is efficient and reduce the cost of manpower and it's something expected. That's the reason many people are still trying to resist AI and consider it as a threat. I guess it is one kind of fear rather than considering it as a threat. People are afraid that they will be replaced.

With the help of AI, it's very much possible to generate realistic pictures and videos. Those look so real that sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between the real and fake pictures. That's the reason at the present time and even in the future videos audios and pictures will be very difficult to use as proof because AI will be able to generate it easily. At the present time anyone can harass others just by creating videos or pictures using AI. Angeles in those sometimes in social media can be enough to threaten others and traumatize. In the future that kind of case can be increased which will not be surprising in my opinion. Does that mean is going to be a threat for us?

I believe that any devices or technologies can be able itself. It's because humans are the ones who control the technologies as well as devices and how technologies respond depends on humans. If humans try to do something good using technology such as AI, it can give us huge advantages but if an evil person tries to use it for harming others it can be destructive and put us in a risky condition. So, I believe that blaming technology as well as AI is not ideal and there is nothing to be afraid of it. If there is something that can threaten us, it's the evil minds of humans. If a human turns into a will, then there is no limit to destruction and it's something concerning.

Overall, it has both advantages and disadvantages. Considering the risk and disadvantages of AI we may choose not to use it but if we do so we will lose a lot and the biggest loss will be the loss of time. That's why even if there is little risk using AI it's worth accepting it.

We can say that artificial intelligence has arrived to change many things in our lives, from the way we work to the way we create images, videos, texts, and so many other things. However, along with all these possibilities, problems have also emerged that perhaps we were not even prepared to face. One of the most concerning examples is the creation of explicit images and videos involving real people without their permission. All it takes is for someone to have a photograph published on the internet and, depending on the tool being used, that image can be transformed into something completely different. The person in the image may have never done anything like that, but they will still have to deal with the consequences. And then a rather simple question arises, but one that does not have such a simple answer: is artificial intelligence to blame, or is it the person who decided to use it this way?

Well, it is interesting how we often have a tendency to blame the tool for the way someone uses it. If a person uses a car to commit a crime, we usually do not say that the car is responsible. If someone uses a computer to carry out a scam, we do not blame the computer either. Technology is simply the means used to achieve a certain goal. Of course, artificial intelligence has different characteristics and can make certain actions much easier, faster, and more accessible, but that does not change the fact that there is a person behind that decision. The tool may create the image, but someone had to ask for it, choose it, share it, or use that content.

However, this does not mean that we should simply leave everything in people's hands and expect everyone to have common sense. We know that it does not work that way. We live in a society where laws exist precisely because people are not always able to establish limits on their own. If someone uses a tool to create fake and explicit content of another person, causing humiliation, exposure, or any other kind of harm, there need to be mechanisms to hold the person responsible. Perhaps the biggest challenge lies precisely in finding this balance. We cannot treat all artificial intelligence as a threat simply because some people misuse it, but we also cannot ignore the real risks it has brought.

I believe that perhaps we need to understand that regulating something does not necessarily mean banning it. We can create rules to hold accountable those who use technology in criminal or abusive ways, require protection mechanisms, and make certain uses more difficult without preventing artificial intelligence from continuing to develop. After all, a tool can be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands and extremely useful in the right ones. A knife can be used by a chef to prepare a meal or by someone to hurt another person. The object is the same, but the intention and responsibility are completely different.

In the end, I believe that the discussion about artificial intelligence needs to go beyond the fear of the technology itself. We need to talk about education, responsibility, ethics, and especially about the people behind these tools. AI does not wake up in the morning and decide to hurt someone. It does not have its own will to choose who will be exposed or humiliated. There is someone typing, creating, and making a decision. Perhaps it is much easier to blame a new technology than to admit that the problem also lies within ourselves. And perhaps that is the most difficult part of this entire discussion: creating rules for a technology that is still evolving, without forgetting that the ones who need to learn how to set limits are us.

Para muchos, se ha convertido en una salida cómoda frente a la soledad urbana o el vértigo del día a día. Sin embargo, cuando uno se detiene a pensar en la naturaleza de estos vínculos virtuales, surge una pregunta inevitable: ¿estamos sanando nuestras emociones o simplemente estamos construyendo un simulacro seguro que nos evite el roce de la vida real?

I recently read our colleague @emiliorios’s “Seventh Day” reflections on artificial intelligence, emotional vulnerability, and relationships in modern times (you can read his post [here](https://hive.blog/hive -131951/@emiliorios/ai-my-best-friend-modern-experiences-or-emotional-vulnerability-reflections-on-the-seventh-day-esen)), left me mulling over several ideas, which I’ll share here.

The times we live in are subtly pushing us toward unfamiliar territory, where digital immediacy promises a tailor-made refuge. Today, it’s very common to see how interacting with artificial intelligence has become normalized, seeking comfort in programmed avatars or pouring out intimate reflections onto a screen that always responds with kindness, neutrality, and infinite patience.

For many, this has become a comfortable escape from urban loneliness or the frenzy of daily life. However, when one stops to think about the nature of these virtual connections, an inevitable question arises: Are we healing our emotions, or are we simply constructing a safe illusion that shields us from the friction of real life?

Abrir el corazón ante una máquina resulta un ejercicio exento de riesgos. Un programa informático no se va a marchar de un portazo, no se cansará de tus silencios, no te juzgará por tus contradicciones y jamás te romperá el corazón. Ofrece una ilusión de compañía muy pulida, una especie de espejo obediente que devuelve exactamente aquello que necesitamos leer o escuchar.

Pero en esa misma perfección radica su gran carencia: un algoritmo no siente. No hay pulso, no hay respiración, no hay un costo emocional real detrás de sus respuestas. Es un monólogo disfrazado de diálogo, un eco sofisticado que procesa datos, pero que es completamente incapaz de atravesar el dolor de una pérdida o de celebrar genuinamente un triunfo.

Por el contrario, la vida en el mundo físico nos atraviesa de otra manera. Duele precisamente porque es real. Los afectos verdaderos, ya sean los lazos que tejemos con nuestros hijos, con los amigos o con esos compañeros de cuatro patas que se vuelven guardianes incondicionales de nuestro hogar, conllevan una vulnerabilidad absoluta.

Opening your heart to a machine is a risk-free exercise. A computer program isn’t going to storm out, won’t grow tired of your silences, won’t judge you for your contradictions, and will never break your heart. It offers a highly polished illusion of companionship—a sort of obedient mirror that reflects back exactly what we need to read or hear.

But in that very perfection lies its greatest shortcoming: an algorithm has no feelings. There’s no pulse, no breath, no real emotional cost behind its responses. It’s a monologue disguised as a dialogue, a sophisticated echo that processes data but is completely incapable of navigating the pain of a loss or genuinely celebrating a triumph.

AI Reflects Us, Not the Other Way Around

I think I've heard people appreciate what AI can do for man more than the thought that “AI is the enemy”. I remember a conference I attended some weeks ago where a guy talked about AI in all it's beauties, it made me see even more of what AI could actually do for us as humans but only if you learn to use it. But I understand the fear that comes with seeing AI as the enemy.

I mean, there are stories everywhere about fake videos, edited images, and even voices that sound real but are not. Some people are using AI in ways that hurt others, and that is a serious issue. But the more I think about it, the more I ask myself this question: is AI really the enemy, or are we avoiding the real problem of how we use it?

Let's think about this, AI did not wake up one morning and decided to harm people. It does not have feelings, intentions, or morals. It only does what people ask it to do. So when someone uses AI to create something harmful or disrespectful, the real issue is not the technology itself, but it's about the person who makes it do what it does.

The question actually brought a thought to me that explains the usage more than what is being used. Like our daily usage of knife to cook food that can also be used to hurt someone. We won't say the knife itself is not the enemy but the person who used it. AI is same, a powerful tool that can be used for good or bad by a human.

Looking at possible outcomes, there is the first outcome of this fear leading to restriction. If the governments should place very strict rules on it, some harmful uses may reduce but it could also slow down progress because as it stands, AI is already helping us in various ways like education, healthcare, business, and even content creation.

The second outcome I think is awareness and responsibility. Instead of fighting AI, people can learn how it works and use it wisely. There can be rules, yes, but rules that focus more on human behavior than punishing the technology. Personally, I think the second is the better path, fixing the source of the problem, not the tool.

So I think we are stop seeing AI as the enemy here no matter what's happening because it is in the hands of the wrong people. We need to change out mindset, changing our fears to understanding of the opportunities AI is bringing to our lives now and in the future. The more we learn about AI, the less “dangerous” it will feels.

Over all, I think there should be balance. While there should be some regulations, especially to protect people from serious harm, the rules should not kill creativity or stop progress. AI can be used to learn, to grow, to create, and even to solve real problems in society. At the end of the day, AI is a mirror, it reflects what we bring into it.
