Marble Cake Crumble

I'm so excited to be making another sponge cake. This time, I'm making a marble cake crumble, which recently went viral on social media. I was curious about the taste of the cake and the crumble on top. My curiosity started with a souvenir my sister brought home. She bought a pandan cake with crumble crumbs on top. I thought the crumble was bread crumbs sprinkled on top. However, it turns out the crumble is actually a crumb made with butter, then sprinkled on top of the marble cake.

This marble cake is made without any added softener, so the cake is naturally soft from the ingredients. I love the combination of flavors and the unique final shape. And you know, this is my first marble cake, and it turns out to be a beautiful color with perfectly cooked crumble crumbs.

Ingredients

Cake Ingredient

150 grams butter 120 grams powdered sugar 3 eggs 180 grams flour 1.5 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon liquid vanilla 90 ml liquid milk Black Forest Chocolate Paste

Scrumble Ingredient

35 grams butter 20 grams powdered sugar 50 grams flour 10 grams cornstarch

Procedure

Combine all the scrumble ingredients and stir until evenly mixed, forming granules.

Then, prepare a bowl by adding the butter and powdered sugar and mixing until evenly combined.

Then, add the eggs, baking powder, liquid vanilla, and flour.

Mix until evenly combined, then add the liquid milk and stir until evenly combined.

Once the dough is ready, prepare a baking pan with margarine and line it with greaseproof paper. Then, divide the dough into two portions and add the black forest chocolate to one portion.

My visit to the rural area of Quebrada de Ño Carlo and its beautiful landscapes (Eng - Esp)

Hello, fellow travelers! It is a pleasure to greet you and share my visit to a rural area of the Libertador municipality in Sucre state. During my time there, I had the opportunity to explore various areas—all of them truly beautiful, especially thanks to their natural surroundings. Most are situated near rivers and streams; during the rainy season, the rivers swell, and the resulting lush vegetation and colorful flowers enhance the landscape. It was my first time visiting this part of Sucre state, and I absolutely loved it. After exploring Tunapuy—the capital—I headed toward the Ño Carlo stream area. It is a place of beautiful scenery and incredible mountain views; along the way, I admired the lush vegetation, the grass-covered mountains, and the stunning landscape set against a spectacular blue sky filled with clouds.

With the aim of exploring this beautiful area, we decided to cover part of the route on foot; after walking along the main road, we took a path toward the Ño Carlos ravine. The views were spectacular, with abundant vegetation lining both sides of the road. Since the rainy season had begun, the stream had swollen slightly, and the surrounding area was lush with plants—including crops like plantains and papayas bearing fruit. The landscape grew increasingly beautiful as we moved forward, and the dense vegetation accompanied us for much of the journey. After walking for about 45 minutes, we reached the rural settlement, where most of the houses featured lovely front gardens filled with colorful flowers that offered a warm welcome.

Hola amigos viajeros es un placer saludarles y compartir mi visita a una zona rural del municipio Libertador en el estado Sucre, durante mi visita a este municipio, tuve la oportunidad de recorrer diferentes zonas y debo decir que son muy bonitas, especialmente por los entornos naturales, la mayoría de ellas se ubican cerca de ríos y quebradas y en la temporada de lluvia, los ríos crecen y por ende la vegetación y coloridas flores embellecen el paisaje. Es la primera vez que visito esta parte del estado Sucre y me encantó, luego de recorrer Tunapuy, la capital, me dirigí hacia la quebrada de Ño Carlo, un pequeño pueblo que tiene hermosos paisajes, evincreíbles vistas de la montaña durante el trayecto pude observar la hermosa vegetación, la montaña cubierta de grama y el hermoso paisaje con un espectacular cielo de color azul y muchas nubes.

Con la idea de recorrer y explorar esta hermosa zona, decidimos hacer parte del trayecto caminando, luego de recorrer la carretera principal, tomamos un sendero hacia la quebrada de Ño Carlos, las vistas son espectaculares con muchas vegetación a ambos lados de la carretera, como ya inició el tiempo de lluvia, la quebrada ha crecido un poco y alrededor de ella muchas plantas, incluso cultivos como plátano y lechosa dan sus frutos; a medida que avanzábamos el paisaje era más hermoso y la tupida vegetación nos acompañó durante un largo trayecto, tras caminar aproximadamente 45 minutos llegamos al campo, la mayoría de las casas tienen hermosos jardines en el frente, con coloridas flores que dan una cálida bienvenida.

From various houses, one can enjoy different views of the mountain ⛰️. I headed to the back of one of the houses and observed the nearby stream, as well as the shrubs and small plants growing around it. I then walked through the garden, where a beautiful red flower caught my eye; it grows in clusters, and the plant reaches a considerable size—between 3 and 5 meters. Besides this plant, there were others such as crotons, lilies, and various crops. The land here is exceptionally fertile, allowing families to cultivate staple foods—including cassava, pumpkin, coconut, avocado, and plantain—in small garden plots.

An emotionally attached cat is left alone for the first time

Hace poco fuimos a un viaje de dos días y me preocupaba muchísimo dejar a mi gato solo, el suele ser demasiado sensible y no le gusta estar solito, siempre busca la compañía de cualquiera de nosotros, desde pequeño ha sido asi, incluso llora cuando cerramos alguna puerta de la casa y por ese motivo me parecía muy cruel dejarlo solo pero mi esposo me dijo que el estaría bien, además de que mi suegro vendría a verlo durante el tiempo que estuvimos fuera de casa.

We recently went on a two-day trip, and I was really worried about leaving my cat alone. He tends to be very sensitive and doesn’t like being by himself; he’s always looking for one of us to keep him company. He’s been that way since he was a kitten—he even cries when we close a door in the house. That’s why it seemed so cruel to me to leave him alone, but my husband assured me he’d be fine, especially since my father-in-law would come by to check on him while we were away.

Pero aun asi fue muy difícil irme y dejarlo aquí solito, el sentía que algo estaba pasando ese día, nos veía extraño y no durmió casi, nuestro viaje comenzó en la noche asi que al menos pude pasar el día viernes completo junto a él, cuando nos fuimos llore muchísimo mi esposo se reía, pero yo sentía que el corazón se me arrugaba..

But even so, it was very hard to leave and leave him here all alone. He sensed that something was going on that day—he thought we were acting strange, and he hardly slept at all. Our trip started at night, so at least I was able to spend the whole day on Friday with him. When we left, I cried a lot; my husband was laughing, but I felt like my heart was breaking...

Le dejamos las ventanas cerradas, pero con un pequeño agujero para que fluyera el aire ya que aquí el calor esta bastante fuerte, hice esto mismo en cada ventana de la casa dejando una pequeña franja donde pudiese entrar un poco de aire, cerré la puerta de un cuarto que tiene la ventana dañada lo mas fuerte que pude ya que esa puerta tambien esta dañada y esa era mi mayor preocupación, pensar que lograría abrir esa puerta y montarse en la ventana y caerse. Aunque no lo crean el es capaz de abrir esa puerta y entrar, es muy hábil y tiene mucha fuerza. Por suerte mi suegro vino a visitarlo el sábado al mediodía, se quedo un rato con el y le cambio el agua y la comida, quedamos en que me enviaría fotos de tommy y aquí hay algunas.

We left the windows closed, but with a small opening to let air flow through, since it’s quite hot here, I did the same thing at every window in the house, leaving a small gap where a little air could get in. I closed the door to a room with a broken window as tightly as I could, since that door is also damaged, and that was my biggest concern—the thought that he might manage to open that door, climb through the window, and fall out. Believe it or not, he’s capable of opening that door and getting in; he’s very agile and very strong. Luckily, my father-in-law came to visit him on Saturday at noon; he stayed with him for a while and changed his water and food. We agreed that he’d send me some photos of Tommy, and here are a few of them.

La tranquilidad que me dio ver estas fotos no se las puedo explicar, estaba muy feliz de ver que mi hermoso gatito estaba a salvo, yo estaba en un viaje maravilloso pero seguía pensando siempre en él, es difícil amar a los animales y dejar solita a tu mascota por varios días, en tu mente pasan mil y un cosas pero por suerte todo salió muy bien.

I can't even begin to explain the peace of mind I felt seeing these photos; I was so happy to see that my beautiful little kitten was safe. I was on a wonderful trip, but I couldn't stop thinking about him. It's hard to love animals and leave your pet alone for several days—a thousand and one thoughts go through your mind—but luckily, everything turned out just fine.

23 Mile Bike Ride, Fref, Tree Bucking, Cross Country Meet, Signups - Thursday

Yesterday morning I headed out for a ride once it got a bit warmer and kept it more mellow. As in less hills and more flats. I had a good laugh at the Uhaul truck and the FREF storage.

It was a nice day and I ended up taking a couple roads I have not been on before.

Flats mean faster speed with less effort so I made it 23 miles again.

After noon I grabbed the saw and extra battery and headed up the hill to work on hacking one of the trees down to rounds.

It was a good drop for each round and they got some good distance with the speed they picked up.

Both batteries got me through about half the tree.

The 16" bar had about 2" past the tree diameter but nicely the wood is softer so cut easily.

J had another xc meet, this time back at their school.

He did really good and pushed pretty hard for the 1.5 miles.

He got a 10:50 finish time and ran 7:30 pace.

In the evening we signed him up for 2 5ks this month. The one will be Sunday at the ski area and is a trail run, the other is the BRRC cross country race at Mead high school in a couple weeks. He is pretty stoked for them.

Went to the group ride this morning and it was a lot of hill climbing... My toes were ice blocks by the end. I got home in time to get the boys to school and now will go soak for a bit to warm up more. Mid day I have a job to swap out a gas cooktop for a customer, then this afternoon will be the Fall carnival at R's school and J has no practice so we will all go to that before figuring out dinner this evening.

A Wednesday Walk from home in Vizcaya Park

It’s been over a month since my last post. But this morning, as I was walking through my favorite park near home, it was such a beautiful day and everything looked so green in the park that I thought it deserved a post for #wednesdaywalk.

I came home three weeks ago after three months away. This time, I was anxious about returning after the earthquake three months ago; I didn’t know what I was going to find. And honestly, the day I returned was really shocking: landing and seeing the destruction in La Guaira from the plane. It’s as if a nuclear bomb had gone off. Everything there looks desolate and destroyed. But in Caracas, although there are areas where the damage is quite evident, the city seems to have regained its rhythm.

I’m really grateful to be home, to see family and friends. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been catching up on things and hadn’t had a chance to get back into my exercise routine at the park, but this morning I woke up determined to do it, so I headed to Vizcaya Park early.

The municipal government has been doing a great job with the park lately and has planted grass and lots of plants, so now exercising on its trails is like taking a stroll through the greenery.

It was a beautiful morning, and despite the heat, it was wonderful to go for a walk and get some exercise. Plus, at that time of the morning, the park was much quieter: there were only a few people walking and jogging, along with the groups that do their morning exercise routines.

The reading garden is, as always, very well maintained, but now they’ve also planted many shrubs around the trees and the busts honoring various writers. And I love that there are always people sitting on the benches next to the ecofriendly minilibrary, relaxing at their own pace.

The latest addition to this area of the park dedicated to literature is a bust of “Gabo” (the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez). And I think it’s a great addition for this little green corner that pays tribute to reading.

In the mornings, the park is much less crowded, and today it felt particularly peaceful or maybe it was just that I felt at peace, enjoying nature, the light, the birdsong, and the greenery all around me.

I took my mom with me so she could enjoy some time outdoors. For the past two weeks, she’d been at a convalescent home because she’d had cataract surgery in both eyes, so today she was happy and said that everything looked different and the colors were brighter. So, after a walk at her own pace, she entertained herself by watching people exercising.

I definitely missed this place and getting back into my routine here.

In the area where the playground and the Little Prince square are located, there’s no grass yet, but you could tell they were working on it, and despite the heat and the blazing sun, you could see people working. So greenery will soon arrive in that area as well.

Still Alive

I'm a horrible Hive community member lately. Yeah, I've been poking my head in and voting on a few posts. But haven't really been reading or engaging much. Am I sorry for it? Not really.

Been enjoying life offline more in the last few weeks than I have in a long time. Been getting out of the house. Fiddling and farting around in the yard. Still straightening up the garage. Finished up the shed. Working now on the basement. Getting out with the old vets again. Living life as it should be.

That and I'm still struggling through my online courses. Tons of reading, researching, and writing. That takes up a good chunk of my time too.

Also sleeping better. Not waking up at 3 AM and sitting up staring at the screen. Not sitting in a dark room at night alone with my shitty thoughts. Actually going to bed at a decent time and sleeping in to a decent hour of the morning.

Considering where my mental state was a few weeks ago, I'm doing much better. So much better. There were a few of you out there that were struggling too when I was. I hope you all are feeling some relief and getting out of the funk as well. Climbing out of the hole as I like to say.

Anyway, sitting here on a rainy Friday. Smells of sourdough whiffing through the house. Wife is baking lots of bread to take to some family for a get together next weekend. I get to stay home and babysit the dogs. Bachelor time!
Just kidding. Honestly I get lonely after she's gone for a day. Will probably spend a good deal of time in the garage finishing it up and watching some movies on top of studying.

Sometimes stepping away from the screen is the healthiest thing you can do. Touch grass as the kids say. Reconnect with the real world. The people in front of you. The projects that need done. The life that's happening while you're scrolling.

I'll be back around more eventually. For now, I'm just checking in. Hope you all are doing well. And letting you know I'm still alive.

🇪🇸 ~ ¡ME OBSEQUIARON UNA SINGER 875! Apenas lo puedo creer, no he parado de agradecer esta sorpresa y de estar totalmente obsesionada investigando cómo funciona este modelo; para mi, Navidad se adelantó y quiero tomar este gesto (junto a muchos pequeños milagros aquí y allá que han ocurrido estos últimos 10 días) como una señal de que estoy en el camino correcto.

El manual de usuario no fue difícil de conseguir, y antes de comenzar a experimentar con ella para "agarrarle el ritmo" como dicen (porque cada máquina de coser tiene su propia personalidad) quiero tomarme mi tiempo para leerlo con atención y hacer los apuntes importantes que corresponden porque wow, esta máquina es algo diferente a los modelos que he podido usar o que tengo en casa.

También, es la primera vez que veo una máquina de coser que usa discos, ¡discos para configurar los tipos de costura!, al tenerlos en mis manos se siente como algo especial, como cuando tenias los accesorios finos de un juguete caro en los años 90s, incluso me obsequiaron una cajita original de Singer para guardarlos 🥹 💞

🇺🇸 ~ I WAS GIVEN A SINGER 875! I can hardly believe it—I haven’t stopped expressing my gratitude for this surprise, and I’ve been completely obsessed with figuring out how this model works. For me, Christmas came early, and I want to take this gesture (along with many little miracles here and there that have happened over the last 10 days) as a sign that I’m on the right path.

The user manual wasn’t hard to find, and before I start experimenting with it to “get the hang of it,” as they say (because every sewing machine has its own personality), I want to take my time to read it carefully and make the necessary notes because, wow, this machine is quite different from the models I’ve used before or have at home.

Also, this is the first time I’ve seen a sewing machine that uses discs—discs to set the stitch types!—and holding them in my hands, they feel like something special, like when you had the fancy accessories that came with an expensive toy back in the ’90s. They even gave me an original Singer box to store them in 🥹 💞

¡Fotografías de mi último atardecer en Puerto Constanza! [ESP/ENG]

¡Hola amigos! Feliz mitad de semana para ustedes, me alegra poder estar aquí para mostrarles estas lindas fotografías que tenía pendiente por plasmar aquí hace mucho tiempo, pues como han sido últimamente mis aventuras, esta, fue una más que surgió de la nada, de la necesidad de volver a aquellos lugares donde somos felices, así fue como Chris me propuso un día random luego de trabajar, que por qué no íbamos en la moto hasta Puerto Constanza para admirar el atardecer mientras comemos ricas hamburguesas, y bueno, quien se niega a un plan así, sobre todo por el hecho de que amo con locura admirar, disfrutar y fotografiar atardeceres, ni hablar del hecho de comer la única hamburguesa de pollo crispy que amo de la Isla.

Pensamos que llegaríamos tarde, pues había bastante tráfico por la hora en sí, además de que en el camino ya habían tonos cálidos en el cielo, el trayecto fue una maravilla, pero la llegada fue aún más épica jajaja, pues llegamos justo a tiempo y hasta una pequeña sesión de fotos nos hicimos con el atardecer de fondo, sé que son muchas fotos las que comparto acá, pero como siempre, no puedo evitar tomar foto tras foto de todo aquello que me parece digno de recordar y admirar nuevamente, estuvo precioso, valió la pena cada gota de preocupación y por supuesto, comer ricas hamburguesas con semejante vista, amaría volver pronto a este espacio, espero que les gusten las fotografías tanto como a mí, me despido como siempre deseándoles éxito y mucha prosperidad, hasta pronto!.

Hello friends! Happy mid-week to you all. I’m so glad to be here sharing these lovely photos—pictures I’ve been meaning to post for a long time. Like so many of my recent adventures, this one came about spontaneously—born from a need to return to the places where we find happiness. One random day after work, Chris suggested we hop on the motorcycle and head to Puerto Constanza to watch the sunset while enjoying some delicious burgers. Well, who could say no to a plan like that? Especially since I absolutely love watching, enjoying, and photographing sunsets—not to mention eating the only crispy chicken burger on the island that I truly adore.

We thought we’d be late because of the heavy rush-hour traffic, and we could already see warm hues coloring the sky while we were on the road. The ride was wonderful, but our arrival was even more epic—we made it just in time and even managed to squeeze in a mini photoshoot with the sunset as our backdrop. I know I’m sharing a lot of photos here, but I just can’t help snapping picture after picture of things worth remembering and admiring again. It was stunning, and it made every moment of worry worth it—plus, enjoying tasty burgers with a view like that was the cherry on top. I’d love to go back there soon. Ya entramos oficialmente en el mes de octubre y la verdad es que el tiempo se fue volando. Falta poquísimo para que se termine este año, y como es costumbre aquí en Venezuela y en muchísimos rincones de Latinoamérica, las emisoras de radio y los canales de televisión empiezan poco a poco a soltar esas gaitas y esa música decembrina que nos avisa que la Navidad ya casi está tocando la puerta.

We have officially entered the month of October, and the truth is that time has flown by. There is very little left before this year comes to an end, and as usual here in Venezuela and in many corners of Latin America, radio stations and television channels are starting to play those traditional holiday songs that let us know Christmas is right around the corner.

Hay una canción en particular que a mí me mueve todo por dentro. Se trata del clásico "Faltan cinco pa' las doce". Apenas suenan esas primeras notas en la radio, se me eriza la piel. Es un tema cargado de una nostalgia enorme porque, aunque nos invita a dar gracias, también nos trae a la memoria el recuerdo vivo de todos esos familiares fallecidos que ya no están presentes en nuestra mesa. En estos meses decembrinos es cuando más los extrañamos, cuando recordamos sus risas, sus abrazos en la cena de fin de año y los momentos felices que compartimos juntos.

There is one song in particular that moves me deeply inside. It’s the classic "Faltan cinco pa' las doce". As soon as those first notes play on the radio, I get goosebumps. It is a song loaded with huge nostalgia because, even though it invites us to give thanks, it also brings back the vivid memory of all those deceased family members who are no longer present at our table. During these holiday months, we miss them the most, remembering their laughter, their warm hugs at New Year's Eve dinner, and the happy moments we spent together.

Investigando un poco sobre la historia de esta joya musical, descubrí datos muy bonitos. La canción fue compuesta en el año 1963 por el músico y compositor venezolano Oswaldo Oropeza, pero quien le dio esa alma y la inmortalizó con su voz fue el famoso cantante y actor venezolano Néstor Zavarce. Desde el momento en que se lanzó al público a mediados de la década de los 60, se convirtió de inmediato en un himno infaltable para despedir el año. Lo curioso es que traspasó todas las fronteras y hoy en día se escucha con la misma fuerza en Colombia, Ecuador, México y casi toda América Latina.

Goodbye September

Se fue septiembre el cual fue un mes para mi de altas y bajas, un mes que me trajo descanso, una pie chueco y lindos momentos para compartir, además de gratos momentos, un mes se va y otro llega, sin duda los meses están pasando muy rápidos y ya se acerca cada vez más el mes más bonito del año el cual es diciembre, el mes de septiembre no quería que se fuera tan rápido.

Al ver las fotografías del mes de septiembre me pareció que fue muy bueno a pesar de algunas que otras cosas que no lo fueron tanto como el hecho de que me esguince el pie izquierdo, a pesar de eso alirar las fotografías veo que Dios fue muy bueno conmigo ya que me permitió ir a tantas partes y compartir con mi familia aún con mi pie enfermo, uno muchas veces ve el vaso vacío cuando en realidad está más lleno que nada.

Este mes pude compartir con mi familia materna, pude ir a los 15 años de los trillizos, pensaba que no iba a poder asistir porque solo habían pasado 8 días de lo de mi pie, sin embargo pude caminar y hasta bailar el vals, y conversar con familia, volver a ver a personas que tenía tiempo que no veía, hablar y reír, recordar cosas de nuestra niñez, real.wnte este cumpleaños trajo buenos recuerdos y dejó nuevos grupos familiares que hacían falta para unir más a la familia.

Otra de las cosas fue poder salir con mis amigas a otro cumpleaños, celebrar con ellas, y luego salir a una buena conversación y una rica cena de unos perritos calientes, no es tanto la comida sino la buena comida.pañia y conversación.

Además de esto salimos varias veces en casa, todos en familia pudimos compartir buenos momentos, salidas a comer, a paser, a la playa, así que septiembre fue un mes que logró sorprenderme, imagínate so fue así con mi pie, no imagino como seria sino, gracias le doy a Dios quien me ha permitido estar bien y poder hacer muchas cosas.
