Alright friends…@seattlea joins us this week. He has been on chain since August 2021. He is a numbers guy, and his posts are where he shows his work.

There's Splinterlands. He came in during the 2021 boom and stayed through the bust, and he tracked every bit of it. The card market falling from $280 million to under $45 million. Daily players dropping from 450,000 to about 4,000. And yet he is still here, three seasons straight in the Modern top 50, publishing his own card win rates. When a proposal came up to cap scholar accounts, he answered with a counterproposal of his own: don't restrict the ecosystem to fix the leaderboard, fix the leaderboard.

There's the infrastructure. He launched his Hive witness in early 2025 on the cloud, then moved it onto his own hardware for more control and less cost. He runs an SPS validator too. His witness tagline says it plainly: a witness that never powers his Hive down.

And there's the day job showing up on chain. A software engineer since 1999, now telling Hive that manual coding is dead. Not sure if that effects many of us, in the end your average joe just wants the app to work and the code is just the Voodoo gibberish behind it. He just started an agentic AI series on getting real work out of these tools without burning through your subscription. Plan with the expensive model, build with the cheap one.

HBD Managed To Stay Afloat

Has The Bear Market Ended?

If the bear market is indeed already over, then HBD managed to just barely stay under the 30% debt limit. As a result, HBD has been more or less stable over the last year - at least never significantly falling long under its $1 peg. This is good news, since it means that HBD has managed to stay at peg for two consecutive bear markets. The last time it did fall below peg was as SBD before the hard fork. Since then we got several changes to its tokenomics which so far have proven to be beneficial. However, getting as close as 1% to the crucial 30% debt limit has been a very close call and it certainly could have gone the other way. In other words, we got lucky... A depegged HBD would have entailed all sorts of problems. For now at least, it seems we are out of the woods. I do not think that Hive will fall below the current support price of around 3.5 cents. ALTs have finally broken out of a multi year long down trend.

We can also see that the HBD savings share is at around 70% and has declined over the last year. In late 2025 we had around 9M HBD in savings at around 15% interest. This has now come down to around 6.3M and is more sustainable with 10% interest.

It's good that interest has come down over the last years. Hive's price simply can't handle an inflated HBD supply at the moment. Of course this means that HBD cannot really grow and get adopted. It's MC is way too low for that. I guess a possibility is that it could grow with an increase in Hive's price. But that would have to be sustainably well above 30-50 cents imo.

Conclusion

Seems like we got lucky... and that isn't really how we wanted this to play out. But it seems we will get another chance to add more value to our chain until the next bear market strikes. Personally, I would like to see HBD's interest to go up again once the debt ratio is back under 10% again. It's reputation as a safe and valuable stable coin still hasn't caught on in the crypto sphere. Although I think with each passing year that chance should in theory grow...

Trading Volume on the Hive DEX Picks Up in September | Data on Volume, Operations, Top Accounts and More | Sep 2026

The Hive internal DEX is an amazing feature on the Hive blockchain. It is a layer one DEX that allows users to trade HIVE and HBD. Imagine having an on-chain, permissionless way to convert between a stablecoin and the main asset, without leaving the network. It is quite the thing!

The DEX has been around since the beginning of the chain, and it is an integral part of it. The introduction of conversions in both directions and improvements to HBD gave it more use cases. But activity is not always moving upwards. Volumes have been much lower in 2026, with September showing a pickup from the summer lows.

The @hbdstabilizer has played an important role on the DEX. These days other accounts dominate the trading rankings, so it is worth looking at both the overall activity and who is doing the trading.
Here we will be looking at:

Daily HBD volume on the internal Hive DEX
Monthly HBD volume on the internal Hive DEX
Number of orders placed or cancelled
Number of accounts trading on the DEX
Top accounts buying and selling HIVE
HBD Price

The main charts start in 2021 up to September 2026.

Daily Trading Volume

Here is the chart for the daily trading volume on the internal Hive DEX.

This is a longer timeframe starting from 2021, for context. We can see the much larger volumes during the earlier HBD trading cycles, followed by a quieter period. The introduction of the stabilizer and conversions in both directions helped make the internal market more useful. Still, the chart shows how uneven activity can be, with a few large days standing well above the normal range.

These spikes are actual matched HIVE/HBD orders. Volume is measured in HBD, counting the HBD side once per match. This tells us how much was traded, but it does not tell us how much liquidity is waiting in the order book.

When we zoom in 2025-2026 we get this:

In the last period the daily trading volume has picked up. July averaged around 9.4k HBD per day, August around 11k, and September around 16.7k. That is a noticeable recovery from the summer, although the market remains quieter than in earlier years.

September’s largest day was September 15 with about 57.6k HBD traded.

The monthly chart for the trading volume on the DEX looks like this:

Here we can see the spikes in the monthly volume chart. August 2021 reached about 7.5M HBD, followed by another large month in August 2022 at 6.6M. Those earlier peaks remain well above the recent totals.

In 2026, volume fell to 300k HBD in April, recovered to 800k in May, and then eased again. August finished at 340k, while September has already is close to 500k.

Number of Trading Operations

The above was the volume. What about the number of operations made on the DEX? Here is the chart:

The number of operations has moved around quite a lot. April 2026 averaged around 21k per day, before activity eased over the following months. August averaged 9.6k, while September averaged 11k.
There is a recovery here as well, although the recent level is still well below April. A busy order book can involve many changes and cancellations without a corresponding increase in matched trading volume.

Note that these are orders placed or cancelled by accounts, not completed trades. Order fills are recorded separately as virtual operations. One order can produce several fills, while another can be cancelled without trading at all.

VISITING THE MASTER./VISITANDO Al MAESTRO.(EN/ES)

Hello, dear Worldmappin travelers!

Last week, the time came to visit a sculpture mentor with whom I share a special bond. René Negrín Méndez is a sculpture professor at the University of the Arts; I had the honor of studying under him, and he also served as my thesis advisor. A friendship blossomed back then that has now lasted over 30 years, and I have always been able to rely on his advice and experience.

It was an impromptu visit, yet Negrín welcomed me with his customary warmth. His studio is located near the University of the Arts, and I often visit to enjoy his friendship. Sometimes we philosophize and try to set the world right with our dreams; at other times, our beloved sculpture consumes our time; and on other occasions, I become that apprentice from long ago once more, soaking up his wisdom and sincerity.

The garden at his studio creates a magical atmosphere. Amidst the lush greenery and a variety of sculptures placed throughout the grounds, the setting is truly delightful. These are his own works from various periods—resembling an open-air museum—that signal we have arrived at the sanctuary of a man who has dedicated his entire life to creating three-dimensional art.

We sat at this table to talk and enjoy some delicious lemonade made from lemons harvested in the yard. The morning was cool, and Negrín seemed to soak up the tranquility of the moment. Parkinson’s disease is already limiting his life and his creative work; he was always a very active artist, and having to relearn things and move at a slower pace gives him a different perspective on life. Even so, he continues to teach something he has always been passionate about.

Before long, a student eager to learn drawing arrived. Negrin is an excellent draftsman and a very good teacher in this field. I myself would like to find the time to take a few classes with him. Observing the model, studying poses and musculature, and mastering chiaroscuro shading techniques are all details to consider. Drawing is a fundamental subject in visual arts studies; it is said that we sculptors have a distinctive way of drawing.

Looking around the workshop, I took pictures of some sculptures. Many are small sketches for large-scale works.

Throughout his career, he has created numerous works of sculpture and participated in a wide range of events. His artistic mark can be found in public spaces across Latvia, Spain, China, Argentina, Georgia, and Cuba.

Negrin began his artistic journey as a child in his native Bejucal. He later enrolled in the National School of Art, where he studied under the Spanish sculptor Enrique Moret. From his mentor, he absorbed a passion for free and creative public art.

In 1994, while I was a sculpture student, he invited me to collaborate with him on the creation of a large marble sculpture honoring the Mexican musician Juventino Rosas. It was an extraordinary professional and personal experience for me, as Negrín was always passionate about art and life. I must mention that, as we were nearing the end of the sculpture's installation, I made the mistake of striking my hand—rather than the chisel I was using—with the sledgehammer, which caused my left hand to swell up enormously... Hahaha... Another lesson learned!

From Playing All Night to Writing on Hive

Hive has fundamentally altered how I use the internet in a positive manner: Prior to hive, most of my time on the internet was purely leisure time. I would play games or binge social media or fill the empty time of late nights...
When I was first earning hive for post I was writing, my outlook slowly shifted. I learned that the internet was not just a place for wasting time. It was also a place where my thoughts, stories, experiences, and creativity could be worthwhile.
Thanks to hive I am now driven to think about what I can write and post instead of "what should I watch tonight?". From asking myself "what should I watch tonight" to asking "what can I write about today". To relax, I travel, have experiences, reflect on things I learn, read, to give you an idea of what happens in a day.
Lastly, writing made me more mindful of how I use my time. Sitting down to write a post involves planning, mindmapping, and wording, and researching, if necessary. It requires more thought and effort than merely scrolling through social media, but there's a reward for that effort at the end of the process when I can see I've achieved something worthwhile.
Hive has given me the opportunity to meet people from different locations and expand my mind. By following other stories I am introduced to new concepts, experiences, cultures and perspectives. I feel like I am living my story and from everyone else's too.
The one thing that Hive transformed me from a consumer of online information into a creator of online information. I still consume entertainment and surf the web, but there is a different purpose now.
For me, it isn't just about earning on hive. It has led me to write, think, connect, learn and even utilize my time in a way that could have easily been that other night of playing or scrolling. It is now an opportunity to make something!
That's my Hive story: from just spending time online, to making my time online count.

Things are hectic over here; time is flying, and we’re already in the last week of September. This month has sped by, and today I wanted to share some photos from this past week with you all.

Despite the rush during these rainy days, I’ve been making the most of the breaks to capture moments that shouldn't go unnoticed—from a beautiful Siamese cat strolling through the neighborhood to taking a break for some good açaí with my daughter on my days off. There were also the weekly lessons learned while preparing Peruvian dishes for events, such as the classic pulpo parrillero con papas (grilled octopus with potatoes) paired with a classic ceviche mixto (mixed fish and seafood ceviche). I even found time to snap a few photos on my way home while passing through the Liberdade district... Well, that’s it, family; I hope you enjoy these shared moments. ✨

HBD Post Payouts Soon To Be Back ?

The Hive debt is now hovering around the 20% mark, that is the lower limit of the debt when the HBD post payouts stop, and the upper limit of 30%, where HBD is devaluated and no longer valued at one dollar.

A month ago the Hive debt was hovering just bellow the 30% mark, and there was danger of HBD breaking the peg, but as we can see from the chart, and this being crypto, things can change fast. Now we are close to 20%, and the posibility for HBD payouts are back again. Hive need to break around the 6 cents mark and stay there for few days for this to happen.

Querido Hiver!

El Salón Nacional de arte abstracto que se celebra anualmente en la Habana Cuba es una oportunidad magnífica para mostrar todo el potencial que tiene este tipo de expresión. Numerosos artistas de todo el país van participar en esta convocatoria.

Ayer, muy tarde en la noche envié las imágenes de mis obras para que sean valoradas por el Jurado de admisión. Pidieron tres imágenes por artista para seleccionar una de ellas, y esa obra sera la que finalmente represente a cada artista en la muestra expositiva que será presentada al público. Aquí debajo les dejo foto y características de cada una:

Los que me conocen y siguen mis publicaciones saben que estudié escultura en la Universidad de las Artes, pero la pintura es como una pasión Yo pienso que me permite plasmar momentos, estados de emoción, también memorias y muchas otras cosas, con un ritmo de creación diferente al de la escultura que necesita del procesamiento de materiales mucho más duros. Esta es la diferencia entre la pintura y la escultura y esa ágil impronta es lo que me apasiona de la pintura.

Creo que el arte abstracto cubano está en uno de sus mejores momentos. Hay una riqueza formal alucinante entre los diversos estilos de los creadores de todas las provincias. Y por primera vez en la historia del arte nacional, nos hemos unido para validar esta tendencia con una sola y potente voz. Estoy seguro que el próximo salón será un éxito. Ya les contaré....

Late last night, I submitted images of my artworks for evaluation by the selection jury. They requested three images per artist in order to select one; that chosen piece will ultimately represent each artist in the exhibition presented to the public. Those who know me and follow my work are aware that I studied sculpture at the University of the Arts, yet painting is a true passion of mine. I feel it allows me to capture moments, emotional states, memories, and so much more—all with a creative rhythm distinct from that of sculpture, which requires working with much harder materials. That is the difference between the two, and it is that sense of agile, spontaneous expression that makes me so passionate about painting.
