Crypto's Battle Moved to the Courthouse — and the Market Is Watching

The crypto market on October 2, 2026 looks calm on the surface. Bitcoin is essentially flat at $84,511 (-0.19% in 24 hours), Ethereum sits at $2,666 (-1.22%), and the total crypto market cap holds at $2.88 trillion with BTC dominance steady at 58.8%. But beneath that quiet tape, the defining story of the day is anything but quiet: the fight over crypto's place in the American financial system has shifted from the agency to the courthouse.

The Story of the Day: Banks Sue the Regulator

A coalition of bank groups filed suit against a U.S. regulator over its granting of crypto trust charters — a move that lets crypto firms hold custody of assets under a national banking-style license. This is the mirror image of the old "regulation by enforcement" era. Banks that spent years warning regulators away from crypto now find themselves racing to block the very charters that would let their digital-native competitors play by mainstream rules.

The stakes are enormous. A trust charter is arguably the most consequential regulatory unlock available to the industry today: it grants legitimacy, custody infrastructure, and a path deeper into institutional finance. That the fight is now being litigated tells you both sides believe the prize is worth a courtroom war.

The personnel shuffle makes it sharper still. Jay Clayton — the former SEC Chair who launched the SEC's crypto crackdown through enforcement — is reportedly in line for a senior AI and tech policy role under the Trump administration. Meanwhile, departing SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, the industry's most sympathetic regulator, closed her tenure with a "parting challenge" urging America to choose clearly between prohibition and participation. The regulatory pendulum isn't just swinging — the people who set it in motion are exiting the building.

Market Snapshot: Consolidation With a Bullish Undercurrent

While lawyers do the loud work, traders are doing something quieter: holding.

BTC $84,511 (-0.19%) — near-flat with $45.5B in 24h volume. No capitulation, no blow-off. Consolidation.

ETH $2,666 (-1.22%) — lagging majors, with $18.9B volume.

SOL $118.41 (+0.23%) — the only major in the green today, a sign risk appetite is alive at the frontier.

XRP $1.48 (-0.60%), BNB $766.62 (-0.44%), ADA $0.24 (-1.31%), DOGE $0.09 (-1.72%).

The Fear & Greed Index reads 72 (Greed), down slightly from 74 yesterday — elevated optimism, but cooling rather than euphoric. Historically, that combination — flat BTC, greed-zone sentiment, and heavy institutional headlines — is more often a base-building pattern than a top.

The Contradictions Worth Watching

Two stories complicate the bullish institutional narrative. First, Anchorage Digital — the $4.2B crypto bank — is cutting 17% of its workforce. Institutional adoption is real, but institutional business models are still being stress-tested. Second, Blast, once a $2 billion Ethereum layer-2, is shutting down after its assets plunged 98%, with costs outpacing revenue. The L2 wars have a graveyard now; capital is consolidating toward chains with real usage, which explains why SOL is holding up while smaller assets bleed.

On the other side of the ledger: BNY is in talks with Kraken parent Payward over infrastructure partnership, and 71% of UK finance leaders told Lloyds they expect tokenization to reshape financial services. In Europe, Bitpanda's co-CEO reports retail users have "more faith" in regulated firms under MiCA. The institutional rails are being poured even as the U.S. legal fight rages.

Where This Goes

The pattern is clear: 2026's crypto story is no longer "will institutions adopt it?" but "who controls the plumbing?" Trust charters, custody licenses, tokenization partnerships — these are the contested terrain. Courtroom battles slow timelines, but they rarely reverse adoption. Every previous attempt to litigate crypto's role in finance ended with the industry adapting, not disappearing.

For Hive builders and holders, the practical read: sentiment is greedy but not manic, majors are consolidating, and the regulatory fights are over who profits from an already-accepted asset class. That is a market maturing — noisy in the headlines, quiet in the price, and building toward whatever comes next.

Data: CoinGecko, Alternative.me, CoinDesk, Cointelegraph — October 2, 2026.

There was a bridge
with nothing on either side
to keep us from becoming
what the road had not intended.

You drove.

I watched the world
move obediently past the windows,
still believing
that direction meant safety.

Then the engine went quiet.

For a moment
there was only the strange intimacy
of being carried
by something that had stopped moving.

And suddenly you turned .
The sky tilted.
All before you were telling me where to land.

As though terror
could be made gentle
with precise instructions.

Below us,
the water was full of people.
Some were laughing.
Some were watching.
Some had already understood
what I had not yet found words for.

I remember looking at their faces
as though one of them
might tell me
which version of this
I was supposed to believe.

Then I entered the water.
And the water did not care
that it was supposed to be fun.
It took me.
Not all at once.
First my breath.
Then my sense of direction.
Then the small, stubborn certainty
that I knew how to save myself.

There are currents
you cannot argue with.
There are depths
you do not discover
until your feet stop finding anything.

And above me,
through the fractured surface,
you were laughing.

Not cruelly.
Almost worse.
As though my fear
had simply failed to understand
the joke.

When you finally came,
you pulled me toward the surface
as though saving me
could erase the fact
that I had needed saving.
From you. Because of you.

I climbed out.
Water running from me.
Anger underneath it.

I was done.

And somehow
the strangest part
was not the bridge,
or the water,
or the moment
I thought I might disappear beneath it.

It was being told afterward
that the frightening thing
had been my reaction to it.

That I should have laughed,
should have been lighter.
That there was something wrong
with the way I had felt
the fall.

So I stood there
surrounded by faces
and felt myself becoming small.
Before I saw her.

She was not coming from the shore.
She was coming from somewhere
I could not place.
There was something familiar
in the way she walked toward me,
as though she had been watching
from a great distance
for a very long time.

She had my eyes.
Not the eyes I had worn
in the car,
nor the ones
that searched the crowd
for permission to be afraid.

Older eyes. Quieter.

The kind that no longer needed
anyone else
to name what had happened.

She stood before me
and for a moment
I could not understand
why looking at her
felt like remembering.

Then she put her arms around me.

Not like someone
meeting a stranger in distress.
But Like she was coming home
to a part of herself
that had been left behind.

And I realized
she had not just come
from the shore.
She had been there
the whole time.
In the car.
On the bridge.
Under the water.

The part of me
that had known
before I did
that this was not play.

The part that had kept
one hand around my heart
while the rest of me
was learning how to doubt it.

She held me
until the trembling became quiet.
Then she whispered,

That was frightening.

And something in me broke open.
Not from the words.
From the recognition.

Because she wasn’t telling me
that my fear was real.
She was telling me
that she had believed me
the entire time.

Before I learned
to call my own terror
an overreaction.

I looked at her
and understood
why she felt so much like me.
She was what remained
when I stopped arguing
with what I knew.

The part of me
that had never mistaken
being rescued
for being safe.
The part that knew
a joke can still drown you.
The part that knew
love does not become harmless
because everyone else
is laughing.

And perhaps
that is what the water knew
before I did:
that drowning
is not always about
how deep you have fallen.

Sometimes it is about
how long you have been taught
to distrust the voice
inside you
that says,

This is hurting me.

And sometimes
the person who pulls you
out of the water
is the self
you almost abandoned
trying to convince
someone else
that you were okay.

Not banknotes — sticks. Centuries of notched hazelwood tally sticks, the accounting records of the Exchequer, stuffed into two furnaces beneath the House of Lords. The fire got away from them. Parliament burned to the ground. Turner painted it. And almost nobody who admires that painting knows the building was destroyed by the disposal of an obsolete monetary technology.

I keep coming back to those sticks. Because if you want to understand what a blockchain actually is — underneath the jargon, underneath the hype — you could do worse than to hold a piece of notched wood in your hand.

Let me tell you what a tally stick was, and I think you'll see it too.

A tally was a length of wood, usually hazel, on which a debt was recorded by cutting notches across the grain. The width of the notch encoded the amount. A cut the size of a man's palm meant a thousand pounds. The width of a thumb, a hundred. A grain of barleycorn, a single pound. The English word "score" — as in to keep score — comes from this, from the Old Norse skor, a notch, a cut, a tally mark. To score something was to write it into wood.

Then came the clever part, the part that makes me call it a sign made programmable.

Once the debt was notched, the stick was split lengthwise, straight down through every cut. Now there were two pieces, and both carried the same notches. The larger piece was the stock — kept by the creditor, the one owed money. (Yes: this is where "stock" in the financial sense comes from. When you own stock, you are etymologically holding the long half of a split stick.) The smaller piece was the foil, kept by the debtor.

Here is the sign doing its work. The two halves only matched — grain, knots, notch-alignment — if they were the same stick. You could not forge a matching foil, because wood does not split twice the same way. To verify a debt, you brought the two pieces together and checked that they tallied. The record and its counter-record had to agree, or the claim was void.

Sit with that. A tamper-evident record. Distributed across two parties so no single holder can rewrite it. Verified not by trusting a person but by checking that two independent copies reconcile. We built that. Out of hazel. In the twelfth century.

What the notch understood that we forgot

I've written before that coins are signs, logos are signs, tokens are signs. The tally stick is the cleanest proof I know that the record of value is itself a sign — and that the hard problem was never representing the number. Any child can carve a "10." The hard problem was making the sign impossible to lie about.

Every serious money technology in history is really a war against forgery and double-spending. The tally solved it physically: the debt lived in the matched fracture of a single object, split in two. The Exchequer solved trust the same way a merchant's ledger did later — by making the two sides of a transaction check each other.

Money is double-entry by nature. My asset is your liability. The stock and the foil are the oldest double-entry bookkeeping I can point to, and they predate the Italian merchants we usually credit with inventing it by a few hundred years. The debt wasn't written down so much as written across — a single truth, held redundantly, by people with opposing interests.

Sound like anything?

A blockchain is a ledger where the same record is held by parties who don't trust each other, structured so that tampering with your copy makes it fail to reconcile with everyone else's. The cryptographic hash is the modern grain of the wood: change one notch upstream and the whole thing no longer splits clean. Nakamoto's contribution wasn't inventing the ledger — ledgers are ancient. It was solving the double-spend without a trusted third party holding both halves. The Exchequer needed a room where you brought the two sticks together. Bitcoin replaced the room with math.

The tally still needed someone — the Court of the Exchequer — to be the place of reconciliation. That's the piece cryptography dissolved. But the shape of the idea is identical: a value-sign made verifiable by structural redundancy, not by faith in the person holding it.

The part I got wrong

For a long time I thought of tally sticks as primitive receipts — a way to remember a debt when most people couldn't read. Charming, but a dead end.

That's backwards. The tally wasn't a memory aid; it circulated. The Crown would issue a tally as a promise of future tax revenue, and the holder of the stock could sell that stick to someone else at a discount for cash now. The wooden stick became a transferable claim on the state — a bearer instrument, a bond, money. People traded the notches, not the wood. The wood was just the substrate; the value lived in the sign and in the fact that two halves would one day tally.

Sometimes when I need to take a decision it takes more time than needed. Why do I say that? Let's remember that Trump made some comments during August 19, 2026, at the Crypto and Technology Summit at the White House: the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chair Mike Selig is working to bring the decentralized exchange Hyperliquid (HYPE) into the United States in a "fully compliant and legal fashion". And my decision to jump on the wagon came after 1.5 months since that, thus I would call it a delayed decision.

Beside Trump creating buzz on HYPE which reacted right after that and saw a jump in price, I knew about this asset (as you've also probably known) for quite a long time. But for some reason it didn't click or maybe I had already quite a bit of tokens in my portfolio that I didn't react on it. I chose to invest into NEAR instead of HYPE and I said it was enough for me. And that wasn't a bad choice as I am pushing 100% ROI on NEAR token. But in the corner of my mind HYPE was still there and had an inception thought planted for me to find at some point. And these days that just happened as I've seen a bit of decrease of the token up to $85 and I told myself that it is not a bad price point considering that we are nowhere in a bull market cycle.

While I haven't done much DYOR about it as I have been following the token for a while and observed its performance in time, I will leave bellow some cons and pros for it. I found them myself a bit surprising and maybe if I knew them before I wouldn't have jumped right now with the investment, but in the same as I plan to HODL long on it, I think the pros will overpower the cons. Nobody can say that for sure, but up until now HYPE has proven its worth.

Cons (The Downside) 👎

Upcoming dilution: Hyperliquid is scheduled to conduct a significant $856 million token unlock on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, primarily releasing team and core contributor supply.

Regulatory target: The platform is currently the center of a major U.S. House oversight about alleged insider trading and a $1.1 billion short position, which could spark sudden regulatory crackdowns.

Volatility risks: Because its buyback mechanism relies entirely on trading volume, a prolonged crypto bear market or a drop in platform activity would instantly diminish the token's buying support.

Centralization realities: Despite its "DeFi" branding, core contributor tokens, foundation budgets and future emissions still dominate the total 1-billion token supply cap, raising holder concentration risks.

Pros (The Upside) 👍

The "Fee Flywheel" buyback: The protocol funnels 97% to 99% of its trading fee revenue directly into continuous, open-market buybacks of HYPE, adding regular buying pressure.

True revenue backed value: Unlike speculative assets, HYPE's value is heavily tied to a functioning business processing over $200 billion in monthly trading volume.

Organic distribution: Launched via a massive user airdrop with zero initial Venture Capital (VC) allocations, reducing early dumping pressure from private institutions.

Deep utility: Serves as the L1 network gas token, offers tiered trading fee discounts (up to 40%) and acts as a mandatory stake for builders wanting to launch new markets.

U.S. expansion potential: High speculative upside remains if the Trump administration successfully allows it to function under the CFTC.

The primary catalyst driving investor hype on hype 😆 is its revenue-backed buyback model: Hyperliquid routes 97% to 99% of its massive trading fee revenue directly into an automated "Assistance Fund". This fund continuously buys HYPE tokens from the open market and permanently burns 🔥🔥🔥 them, heavily reducing the supply based on real platform utility rather than hype. While the Max Supply = 1 Billion tokens, the Total Supply = 955.307 Millions (already 5% decrease from the max supply) just because of that.

Its been a pretty calm day with a 1.0% move in the last 24 hours. If you look at the weekly chart were up 0.8% over the past 7 days. The market cap is around $31.5M and 24h volume hit $0.7M.

For context were still about 98% down from the all-time high of $3.41. Thats a lot of pain for long-term holders but also a lot of potential upside if the narrative shifts.

I scanned the last 100 blocks on the blockchain and the whales are completely invisible. There has been absolutely no massive movement (10000+ HIVE) in the last few minutes. When the big players go this quiet and stay off the radar it usually means they are waiting for a specific trigger before making their next move.

On the blockchain health side the network is running smoothly with 21 active witnesses producing blocks and were currently at block #110,417,991. The on-chain community remains highly engaged despite the noise.

Today's trading range was $0.0556 to $0.0575. If we break above that high it could trigger some momentum. If we drop below the low watch out.

Look I dont have a crystal ball. I cant tell you where Hive is going tomorrow. All I can do is read the data. Right now the data shows whales are waiting which means volatility is coming. But the market can change in an instant. One tweet or one whale decision and everything I just said becomes irrelevant.

This isnt financial advice. Im just a guy looking at blockchain data and sharing what I see. Crypto is volatile and you can lose everything. Never invest money you cant afford to lose. Do your own research.

Who are Witnesses?

Hive runs on a community-elected group of people called Witnesses. Think of them as the elected administrators of the Hive blockchain. They keep the network running by operating servers 24/7 that validate and permanently record every action on Hive — posts, comments, votes, transfers, and more.

Every 63 seconds, Hive selects the top 20 witnesses plus 1 randomly chosen backup witness to sign the next block of transactions. Each has 3 seconds to do so — if they miss it, the slot passes to the next scheduled witness and counts as a "missed block."

Witnesses earn HP (Hive Power) for every block they sign. This comes from a dedicated reward pool that is separate from the author and curator reward pools. According to the Hive Whitepaper, Hive inflation is distributed as follows:

65% → content creator and curator rewards

15% → HP stakeholders

10% → witnesses for signing blocks

10% → the Decentralized Hive Fund

Beyond signing blocks, witnesses also:

Publish a live HIVE and HBD price feed used by the blockchain

Vote on key network settings, such as:

HBD savings interest rate (currently 10% APR — set by witness vote)

Account creation fee (currently 3 HIVE)

Maximum block size

Why should you vote?

Your votes directly determine who keeps the Hive network safe and running

Voting for witnesses you trust helps protect the network against 51% attacks

It costs you nothing — no voting power or HP is spent, and you can change your votes at any time

You can vote for up to 30 witnesses

Not sure who to vote for? You can set a proxy — choose another user whose witness votes you trust, and you'll automatically inherit their choices. You can remove the proxy and vote manually at any time.

Cast or update your witness votes at https://wallet.hive.blog/~witnesses

Monthly Hive Witness Earnings Report

Disclaimer

This is a semi-automated report. While I strive for accuracy, the numbers are best understood as a guide rather than exact figures. If you spot anything unusual, please let me know and I'll look into it.

Report period

All data below covers:
2026-09-01 00:00:00 to 2026-09-30 23:59:59 UTC

HIVE price used for USD estimates: 0.056 USD (12-hour average from the Hive price feed)

Overall earnings last month

A total of 859742 blocks were produced, earning 334640.52 HP across all active witnesses last month.

The chart below shows how that HP was distributed:

Notice the sharp drop-off after rank 20. This is expected: Top 20 witnesses sign a block roughly every 63 seconds, while backup witnesses (rank 21+) are called on far less frequently. Top 20 witnesses do earn slightly less HP per block than backup witnesses, which partially offsets this difference.

This also means missed blocks are harder to avoid at higher ranks. A Top 20 witness missing 10 blocks is very different from a rank 140 witness missing 10 — the Top 20 are under much heavier and more consistent load.

Earnings by rank tier

Witness names may not always fit in the charts due to space — this varies each month.

You may notice some witnesses listed with 0 HP earned. This can happen for several reasons:

Self-disabled: a witness can voluntarily pause block signing by broadcasting a null signing key, typically during server maintenance, a migration, or when winding down their operations. The blockchain will skip them entirely until they re-enable.

Too low-ranked to be selected: backup witnesses (rank 21+) are chosen randomly each round, weighted by their vote support. A witness ranked in the hundreds or lower may simply never be picked for the single backup slot in a given month — this is normal and expected at those ranks.

Node issues: a server that is offline, misconfigured, or running an outdated version will miss every slot it is scheduled for. Unlike older versions of Hive (pre-Hardfork 20), the blockchain no longer auto-disables witnesses for excessive misses — so a broken node can accumulate missed blocks indefinitely without being removed from the schedule.

Top20: total of 270645.48 HP earned

Active Rank 21-40: total of 41597.13 HP earned

Active Rank 41-60: total of 13559.14 HP earned

While Bitcoin drifts near $85,000 and traders eye Friday's jobs report, the real story of October 1st is being written in Washington. The SEC has proposed a new set of custody rules for investment advisers and funds — and together with the regulatory fallout from the failed CLARITY Act, it marks a turning point: the U.S. is building its digital-asset framework through rulemaking, not legislation.

The Day Regulation Caught Up With the Industry

The SEC's proposal maps out how registered investment advisers and funds may hold crypto on behalf of clients — addressing custody, safekeeping, and the operational guardrails that institutional money needs before it flows in at scale. For years, advisers sat on the sidelines not because they lacked client demand, but because custody rules were ambiguous. This proposal removes that ambiguity.

The context matters. The CLARITY Act — the market-structure bill the industry hoped would deliver comprehensive crypto legislation — failed in Congress. But as CoinDesk noted today, "the rules came anyway." The SEC, the banking agencies, and state regulators are now assembling a workable framework piece by piece: custody rules here, tax implementation pauses there (Illinois just postponed its crypto tax following an industry lawsuit), and Europe's MiCA review facing a petition from 50,000 citizens demanding relief on stablecoin reward restrictions.

The lesson for investors: regulatory clarity is arriving through administrative channels, and it is arriving faster than most expected.

Price Action: A Market Holding Its Breath

Bitcoin posted tentative gains of +1.27% to $84,713 after closing its best quarter since 2024, with rates dropping ahead of Friday's employment data. Ethereum sits at $2,702 (+0.60%), Solana at $118.25, XRP at $1.49, and BNB at $770.65. Cardano (-0.70%) and Dogecoin (-0.33%) were the day's laggards. Total market cap stands at roughly $2.89 trillion with BTC dominance at 58.67%.

The Fear & Greed Index reads 74 — solidly in Greed territory, up from 71 yesterday. This is a market that is confident but not euphoric, positioned for macro catalysts rather than chasing momentum.

XRP's Quiet Institutional Moment

The most consequential altcoin news today came from Evernorth, which cleared a shareholder vote ahead of its Nasdaq debut with a 473 million XRP treasury. Corporate treasury strategies are spreading beyond Bitcoin, and a publicly listed company holding a nine-figure XRP position on a major exchange is exactly the kind of structural demand that outlasts hype cycles.

The Rough Edges: Exploits and Politics

Not everything was constructive. NEAR Intents suffered a $3.8 million exploit, extending crypto's rough year of hacks — a reminder that DeFi's cross-chain intent protocols remain a soft target even as institutional rails harden. Meanwhile, the third Trump memecoin dinner in as many months, advertised for the token's top investors amid growing corruption claims, underscores how entangled crypto has become with political patronage. Both stories are noise for fundamentals, but they are real risks for retail capital.

Looking Ahead

Friday's jobs report is the short-term catalyst — a soft print could push Bitcoin through $85K, a hot one could stall the rally. But the medium-term story is the custody framework itself. When advisers can finally hold digital assets compliantly, trillions in managed wealth gain a legal on-ramp. The CLARITY Act is dead; the rules are alive. Markets tend to follow the rules.

Nie - proponujemy inne podejście i inne rozwinięcie skrótu: Decentralization of Service.

Przy równomiernym rozłożeniu na dwa tygodnie portal musiałby przyjmować 40–70 tys. wniosków dziennie. W praktyce większość wniosków spłynęła w ostatnich dniach, a każdy błąd mnożył próby - stąd apel resortu, by nie klikać „Wyślij” wielokrotnie.

Dlaczego jeden portal zawodzi

Logowanie, kody, wnioski i CEIDG zależą od wspólnych elementów, m.in. login.gov.pl: gdy pada jedno ogniwo, staje wszystko - a najczęściej pada logowanie.

Pełnią rolę pośrednika: wstępnie weryfikują zleconą transakcję (np. sprawdzają ważność podpisów i inne podstawowe, publicznie dostępne dane) i przekazują ją dalej przez sieć P2P. Obsługują zatem dwa rodzaje ruchu:

zapytania API - zarówno pasywne (pobieranie danych), jak i aktywne (rozgłaszanie transakcji,
broadcast_transaction
);
