Remembering the singer Ali Primera

I recently took a walk in the park; as I was leaving, I saw this mural. I wasn't sure how to approach the painting, so I only took two photos. I couldn't find the right angles to take several shots because there were people working in the park on both sides of the mural, and it wasn't advisable to photograph them. But I realized that I could explore some themes related to the image and the message it conveys. First, we see a natural landscape with plants and flowers. At the top of the verdant mountain, we see the iconic buildings of the 23 de Enero Parish.

Seated at the foot of the tree, we see the image of the renowned singer Alí Primera playing his guitar. He was one of the most iconic singer-songwriters of our country; his songs were protest songs, where he raised his voice to defend the working class against inequality. He was a cultural representative of Venezuela to the world; he highlighted the natural landscapes of his beloved homeland in his songs.

Recordando El Cantor Alí Primera

Recientemente estuve en un paseo por el parque; al salir del espacio, vi este mural. No sabía cómo abordar la pintura, pues tomé dos fotos; no encontraba los ángulos para hacer varias tomas, ya que a ambos lados del mural habían personas que trabajaban en el parque y no era recomendable que les tomara fotos. Pero me di cuenta de que podía tocarse algunos temas relacionados con la imagen y el mensaje que nos transmite. En primer lugar, vemos un paisaje natural con plantas y flores. En la cima de la montaña verdosa vemos los emblemáticos edificios de la Parroquia 23 de Enero.

Sentado al pie del árbol, vemos la imagen del reconocido cantante Alí Primera tocando su guitarra. Fue uno de los cantautores más típicos de nuestro país; sus canciones eran de protesta, donde alzaba la voz para defender a los sectores populares ante las desigualdades. Fue representante cultural de Venezuela ante el mundo; resaltó en sus cantos los paisajes naturales de su tierra amada.

This mural highlights nature, birds, and flora as the beauty of Venezuela's natural landscape. The child represents the people, the humble folk, to whom the lyrics refer. It conveys a message of popular identity; its vibrant colors evoke joy and hope. This mural can be found in Alí Primera West Park, Sucre Parish, Caracas.

En este mural se resalta la naturaleza, las aves y la flora como belleza del paisaje natural de Venezuela. Y el niño representa a la gente, al pueblo humilde, al que se refiere en sus letras. Nos envía un mensaje de identidad popular; sus colores vivos nos generan alegría y esperanza. Este mural lo podemos encontrar en el parque del Oeste Alí Primera, Parroquia Sucre, Caracas.

Street Art #921 YU8 & LTG crews (Under Pressure 2026), Montreal

This is a wall at the Under Festival that I almost never photograph. It's not because of a lack of quality. It's mostly my fault; I'm not comfortable on this street. There's a supervised injection site and with the people hanging around the street can be a bit intimidating. Usually, nothing bad happens, but getting my camera out when a few people are loitering in front of it... too difficult.

C'est un mur du festival Under Festival que je ne prends presque jamais en photo. Ce n'est pas par un manque de qualité. C'est surtout ma faute, je ne suis pas à l'aise dans cette rue. Il y a un site d'injection supervisé juste un peu loin et la population qui traine dans la rue fait parfois peur. Généralement, rien de méchant mais sortir mon appareil photo quand quelques personnes trainent devant... difficile.

This wall is located on Berger Street, almost at the corner with Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal. The red numbers on the map correspond to all the walls done during the 2026 edition of the Under Festival, for example C320 is for the mural by MonkE and OFA presented during the StreetArt Contest #320.

YU8 & LTG

This mural was done by two crews very active in the streets of Montreal. The first part is the work of YU8 with Gothic-style lettering, then after the character, it's the turn of Tontons Graffeurs aka LTG Crew.

Ce mur a été réalisé par deux collectifs très actifs dans les rues de Montréal. La première partie est l'oeuvre de YU8 avec des lettres style gothique puis après le personnage, c'est le tour des Tontons Graffeurs aka LTG Crew.

Many artists participated in creating this important wall, including on the Tontons Graffeurs Eksept, Hoar, Hozek, Rizek, Smoluk... and on the other side, Resok, Leys, Eskro for YU8 crew... I've probably forgotten quite a few artists, but I'm not sure who was present and who wasn't.

De nombreux artistes ont participé pour réaliser cet important mur avec du côté des Tontons Graffeurs Eksept, Hoar, Hozek, Rizek, Smoluk... Et de l'autre côté, Resok, Leys, Eskro... J'ai sûrement oublié pas mal d'artistes mais je ne suis pas sûr qui était présent et qui ne l'était pas.

The bluish figure in the center is really well done, although its meaning remains a mystery. A bit too strange for my taste. The lettering isn't really my style either. But the work on the shape and the filling is quite impressive. A lot of work and talent went into achieving this result.

Murakami y los murales urbanos: Cuando el arte hace sonreír a las calles...

El arte contemporáneo tiene la increíble capacidad de transformar por completo el entorno que nos rodea. Y si hay un artista que domina el arte de la explosión visual y la alegría, ese es Takashi Murakami. Como podemos apreciar en la imagen que acompaña este post, sus icónicas flores sonrientes han tomado el control de un enorme lienzo urbano, demostrando que el arte no entiende de galerías cerradas cuando se trata de conquistar el asfalto.

El fenómeno "Superflat" en la ciudad

Murakami es conocido mundialmente por su estilo Superflat, una corriente que fusiona el arte tradicional japonés con el pop, el anime y la cultura otaku. Sus flores de colores brillantes, con caritas sonrientes y pétalos multicolores, se han convertido en un sello distintivo de la cultura pop global.

Sin embargo, ver estas obras en un formato monumental, cubriendo fachadas enteras, es una experiencia completamente distinta. En la fotografía, podemos observar la magnitud de la intervención (con el texto "GASETIFY MURAKAMI WORLD"). La escala es tan grande que las personas que caminan por la acera parecen diminutas, lo que subraya la capacidad del arte para empequeñecernos y maravillarnos.

El contraste perfecto

Lo interesante de los murales urbanos de Murakami es el contraste que generan. Por un lado, tenemos el gris del pavimento, las estructuras de concreto y el ritmo frenético de la vida citadina. Por el otro, una pared que grita optimismo, infancia y surrealismo.

Este tipo de intervenciones urbanas democratizan el arte. No necesitas pagar una entrada a un museo para disfrutar de él; simplemente caminas por la calle y te encuentras de frente con un mundo feliz que te invita a detenerte, sacar el teléfono y capturar el momento. Es una forma de resistencia alegre contra la monotonía de las grandes ciudades.

¿Qué nos dice esto sobre el arte actual?

La obra de Murakami en espacios públicos (ya sea en colaboraciones comerciales, festivales o encargos directos como el de la imagen) nos muestra cómo el arte contemporáneo sigue rompiendo barreras. Las fronteras entre lo comercial, lo artístico y lo urbano son cada vez más difusas, y los artistas aprovechan esto para llevar sus mensajes a audiencias masivas.

🎨 Una Mirada Cultural: Símbolos Patrios e Identidad en un Mural Nica-Panameño

Hola, ¿cómo están, comunidad de StreetArt?

Hoy les traigo un mural que encontré donde como comida nicaragüense con la familia.

Bueno, soy nicaragüense, pero actualmente estoy viviendo en Panamá.

Traerles la reflexión de este mural va a ser muy excelente, porque como soy de Nicaragua puedo decirles claramente lo que significa el mural.

A simple vista, ¿qué piensan que nos quiere decir este mural?

🇳🇮 Elementos y Símbolos de la Cultura Nicaragüense

Bueno, analizando el mural tiene varios artes de la cultura nicaragüense:

💬 Frase «Soy Nica»:
Primeramente pueden ver la palabra que dice «soy nica», y que esta es una frase común que se usa en Nicaragua.

Se dice cuando le preguntan a un nicaragüense de qué país es; bueno, también esta frase se dice depende del contexto de una conversación.

🌋 Bandera, Escudo, Volcán y Flor:
Si pueden observar la bandera azul y blanco es el escudo nacional del país de Nicaragua.

También si ven al lado derecho sale un volcán; una de las características de Nicaragua es que está llena de volcanes, sí, es un país que incluso siguen activos.

También la flor que ven al lado que es amarilla es el sacuanjoche, la flor nacional de Nicaragua.

📜 Poeta Rubén Darío:
También está el poeta Rubén Darío, que es una persona que todo nicaragüense sabe quién es.

Este es muy famoso por su poesía y también por su contribución a la literatura a nivel mundial; es el que creó la frase: «Si la patria es pequeña, uno grande la sueña».

🦜 Guardabarranco, Ron y Granada:
Está el pájaro que está al lado izquierdo, que es de color verde, que es el guardabarranco, el ave nacional de Nicaragua. Prácticamente en la obra se muestran todos los símbolos patrios de Nicaragua.

Y claro, también ven un Ron Flor de Caña; esta es una bebida de alcohol nicaragüense también famosa en Nicaragua y en otros países.

Sale un castillo color amarillo; lo que recuerdo cuando veo esto es a la ciudad de Granada, donde venden ricos vigorones; si visitan algún día esta ciudad tienen que comer ese platillo.

🇵🇦 La Conexión con Panamá

En el mural puedes ver también una frase muy común en Panamá, esta es «¿QUÉ XOPÁ?». Bueno, esto los panameños saben más de esta frase, e igual sale la palabra que dice «PRITTY», igual es una palabra panameña.

Como ven, es un mural que primeramente hace énfasis en los símbolos patrios de Nicaragua y también incluye los de Panamá.

Creo que en parte también en Panamá pueden ver al chico sosteniendo la bandera de Panamá con su chica al lado, sí, aquí en Panamá son muy orgullosos de sus vestidos típicos.

🍽️ Carne Asada Nica

El lugar de este mural se llama Carne Asada Nica.

Venden platillos nicas como gallopinto, leche agria, moronga, queso, nacatamales y más platillos que son muy ricos.

First, you can see the phrase "Soy Nica" (I'm Nica), which is a very common expression in Nicaragua.

It's what Nicaraguans say when asked where they're from, though it's also used depending on the context of the conversation.

As every Monday, it’s time for Weekly StreetArt—your weekly dose of #StreetArt. Evening temperatures are dropping in Montreal, but for now, we’re still enjoying a beautiful, sunny autumn. True, the sun doesn't provide much warmth anymore and rises late 😀 but hey, no use complaining; we should just make the most of these days. I’m taking the opportunity to roam Montreal and find some quality #StreetArt works before winter sets in.

Comme chaque lundi, voici venir le temps du Weekly StreetArt, votre dose de Street Art hebdomadaire. Les températures baissent en soirée sur Montréal mais pour l'instant nous avons encore un bel automne avec un gros soleil. C'est vrai qu'il ne chauffe plus trop et se lève tard 😀 mais bon il ne faut se plaindre et profiter de ces journées. Je profite pour parcourir Montréal pour trouver quelques œuvres #StreetArt de qualité avant l'hiver.

To illustrate this Weekly StreetArt post, I’m sharing some lettering pieces from Graffiti Alley in Montreal. Nothing extraordinary... I mostly wanted to point out that this alley has been neglected for the past few years. It used to get a makeover during the Mural Festival, but for the last few years, nothing has happened... It’s sad 😢.

Pour illustrer ce Weekly StreetArt, je propose quelques lettrages faits dans la Graffiti Alley à Montréal. Rien d'exceptionnel mais c'était plutôt pour me plaindre que cette ruelle est en manque d'amour depuis quelques années. Avant pendant le Mural Festival, elle se refaisait une beauté. Mais maintenant depuis quelques années, plus rien... C'est triste 😢.

I’m from Faro, I’m a Farense [ENG-PT/BR]

During my recent visit to my second home, Faro, Portugal, last September, I noticed that the “I’m from Faro, I’m a Farense” mural had been restored. In recent years, parts of the mural—which was built in 2015—had become very faded and blurred.

This mural is located on one of Faro’s busiest avenues, Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian. It is dedicated to Sporting Clube Farense, a soccer team that competes in the second division of the Portuguese league. The mural is part of the “I’m from Faro, I’m a Farense” initiative, launched by the South Side Boys, a Farense fan group.

The initial idea is simple and powerful: to bring the Farense soccer team out onto the streets and strengthen the connection between the club, the city, and local identity. To this end, the South Side Boys organized an internal mural contest involving four groups—Grupo Porno, Velha Guarda, Nova Guarda, and Grupo Penha. The murals were scattered across different parts of the city.

In this mural, we find several elements that help tell this story: the SS 94 symbol, associated with the South Side Boys and their founding in 1994; architectural references to Faro; the Farense crest; and two phrases that perfectly sum up the message: “I’m from Faro, I’m a Farense” and “One Club, One City.”

And this is precisely where, for me, the appeal of this work as street art lies. It’s not just a painting on a wall. It’s an urban intervention steeped in identity, created to be seen every day by those who live, work, or pass through Faro.

Street art can also be this: memory, territory, a sense of belonging, and pride painted in public spaces.

When I photographed the mural, the restoration was still incomplete; the letters in the phrase "Mostraremos ao mundo as façanhas de que a gente de Faro é capaz!" (eng: “We’ll show the world what the people of Faro are capable of!”) still needed to be filled in. So I asked the AI to fast-forward a little in time and finish the work.

I asked the AI to help me put together the technical details for this mural, which connects love for the soccer team with the city of Faro.

Happy Sunday to the talented members of the great Streetart community. I wish all users the very best. It’s wonderful to participate in Week 321 of the Street Mural Contest First of all, many thanks to this community and to my friend digi-me for this contest; it’s always a pleasure to share my photos of these open-air works of art—the murals. This week, I’m featuring a mural depicting two symbolic figures from my city: the Indian and the monk. This graffiti is painted on a rustic wall located on El Islote Street in Cumaná; it used to be a very neglected wall, but now it stands out with these images. The figure of “El Indio” holds a large fish in his hands, and next to him stands the figure of the San Antonio de la Eminencia Castle—both icons of Cumaná. “El Indio de Cumaná” is a figure made of artificial stone and modeled in clay by the artist Giuseppe Pizzo in 1955. It was the central figure of the “Allegorical Fountain at the Entrance to Cumaná.” This figure was moved to its current location at the “Antonio José de Sucre” overpass, which is a roundabout featuring a sculpture that once welcomed visitors at what was once the entrance to Cumaná.
“El Indio de Cumaná” represents the hospitality with which we welcome those who come to visit us. This figure is accompanied by the castle, a sky full of birds, and the Venezuelan flag; it also features the Monk. The artist behind these murals is the popular Memín. I hope you enjoyed my post.

Es maravilloso participar en la semana 321 del Concurso de murales calle Primeramente muchas gracias a esta comunidad y al amigo digi-me por este concurso, siempre es gusto poder mostrar mis fotografias de los artes a cielo abierto de los murales. Esta semana muestro un mural de unas figuras simbólicas de mi cuidad, El indio y el monje. Estos graffiti están plasmado en una pared rústica ubicada en la calle el islote de Cumaná, era una pared muy descuidada y ahora está llamativa con esas imágenes. La figura del Indio tiene un gran pescado en sus manos y al lado la figura del Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia, iconos de Cumaná, “El Indio de Cumaná”, es una figura hecha en piedra artificial, modelada en arcilla, por el artista Giuseppe Pizzo, en el año 1955. Fue la figura central de la “Fuente Alegórica a la Entrada de Cumaná”. Está figura fue cambiada de lugar en donde se encuentra actualmente el elevado “Antonio José de Sucre”, el cual es una redoma con una escultura que recibía a los visitantes en la que llegó a ser alguna vez la entrada a Cumaná.
"El Indio de Cumaná" el cual representa la hospitalidad con que se recibe a quienes vienen a visitarnos. Está figura va acompañado del castillo con un cielo lleno de aves y la Bandera de Venezuela, también tiene el Monje. El autor de estos murales es el popular Memín. Espero que lo haya gustado mi entrada.
