If you watch my time lapse videos, I set them all for a process time of 15 seconds (then I add on about 2 seconds of the final image followed by 5-6 seconds of AI animation). That being said, I don't think anyone can appreciate exactly how hard I worked on this panel. Sheena's pose was hard to get right. Beretka's minions left a bunch of machetes all over the ground. So, my vision was for naked Sheena to grab a convenient machete and chop of Beretka's hand with an upward strike. I tried at first to draw it from imagination, but scrapped three or four of those attempts. And I could not find a reference on the internets of someone doing an upward swing with a sword. I tried having AI generate one, but it similarly failed to even get the machete into the kneeling woman's hand. Finally came up with this. I think it reads okay, if I were to re-draw the panel using this one as a reference I would make Sheena a bit larger in frame and pivot both of them slightly clockwise so that it's more of an over-the-shoulder shot.

I also stressed a lot on the position of Sheena's bewbs. Trying to show that she is doing a quick turn at the waist and her bewbs follow then continue past the turn of her spine. All in all, I put more work in this composition than I usually bother with.

Oh, but, it looks like the fight might be over, so good job, Sheena.

If you spent your late 90s allocating action points, hiring mercenaries from the A.I.M. laptop, and trying to liberate Arulco from Queen Deidranna, this brand new series is strictly for you.

I always felt that the original 1999 Jagged Alliance 2 (JA2) soundtrack by Kevin Manthei was an absolute masterclass in sound design. That specific mix of trügerische Ruhe (deceptive calm), stiff mechanical basslines, and sun-baked atmosphere is something modern games rarely capture. So, I decided to launch an unofficial soundtrack series.

Volume 1: "Welcome to Arulco"

This first track captures the exact feeling of stepping off the chopper into a blinding, dangerous sun. Inspired by the classic JA2 score and infused with the sun-drenched cinematic tension of Ennio Morricone, this volume blends sweeping orchestral string pads with a rigid electronic bass sequence, slow marimbas, and distant echoing guitar stabs. It is designed to be the ultimate immersive background track for your tactical gaming sessions.

🛠️ The Creative Process: Fighting the AI Clichés

As "thatgermandude", I want to keep it fully transparent with you guys. I used the advanced AI music engine Murekai (v9.5) to build this instrumental.

But let me tell you: guiding the AI was a tactical battle of its own. Modern AI engines love generic Hollywood clichés. When you type in words like "tropical" or "military," it instantly tries to vomit out high-speed war drums or upbeat, pirate-like circus music. It took a massive amount of technical sound-architecture prompting to strip away the "jazz club swing" and force the machine into a rigid, sterile 1999 Win98 PC gaming box.

📝 What's Next?

For the upcoming volumes, I might add some vocals or voice lines. But my main focus is that it has to work as background music during intense tactical and calm strategic gameplay that does not disturb the immersion in the game.

Ich fand schon immer, dass der originale Soundtrack von Jagged Alliance 2 (JA2) aus dem Jahr 1999 von Kevin Manthei eine absolute Meisterklasse im Sounddesign war. Diese ganz spezifische Mischung aus trügerischer Ruhe (deceptive calm), starren, mechanischen Basslines und einer von der Sonne verbrannten Atmosphäre ist etwas, das moderne Spiele selten einfangen. Deshalb habe ich mich dazu entschlossen, eine inoffizielle Soundtrack-Reihe an den Start zu bringen.

🛠️ Der kreative Prozess: Der Kampf gegen die KI-Klischees

Als thatgermandude möchte ich euch gegenüber absolut transparent sein. Ich habe die KI-Musik-Engine Murekai (v9.5) genutzt, um dieses Instrumental zu bauen.

Aber lasst euch eins sagen: Die KI zu lenken, war eine ganz eigene taktische Schlacht. Moderne KI-Engines lieben generische Hollywood-Klischees. Wenn man Wörter wie „tropisch“ oder „Militär“ eingibt, versucht sie sofort, High-Speed-Kriegstrommeln oder fröhliche, piratenartige Zirkusmusik auszukotzen. Es brauchte eine gewaltige Menge an technischem Sound-Architektur-Prompting, um den „Jazzclub-Swing“ auszumerzen und die Maschine in eine starre, sterile PC-Gaming-Box aus der Windows-98-Ära von 1999 zu zwingen.

📝 Was kommt als Nächstes? (Fokus auf Immersion)

Für die kommenden Volumes füge ich vielleicht etwas Gesang oder Voicelines hinzu. Mein Hauptfokus liegt aber ganz klar darauf, dass es als Hintergrundmusik während des intensiven taktischen und des ruhigen strategischen Gameplays funktionieren muss, ohne die Immersion im Spiel zu stören.

C'è un punto, a Ca' Paradiso, da cui la valle si guarda tutta in una volta.
Lì la nostra webcam resta sveglia dall'alba al buio, paziente come un contadino che aspetta la pioggia, e ogni giorno registra la stessa scena che non è mai la stessa.

Questo è il 2 ottobre 2026, raccontato in sessanta secondi.

🌅 Il risveglio. Alle 07:50 il sole scavalca i monti e scende piano lungo i prati. La tromba sale di quinta in quinta, come in Also sprach Zarathustra di Strauss, i timpani battono e il giorno si annuncia. La valle si stira, le ombre delle querce si allungano sull'erba ancora umida.

🌿 Il mattino. Poi il flauto e l'oboe si rispondono come due uccelli tra i rami, alla maniera di Grieg nel Mattino del Peer Gynt. È l'ora in cui le galline razzolano, le api escono dalle arnie e il campo arato aspetta la semina. Le nuvole alte, sottili come pennellate, scivolano verso est.

☀️ Il pieno giorno. Quando il sole è alto, la musica si fa inno: archi e corni intonano un canto largo, solenne, che rende omaggio al Giove dei Pianeti di Holst. Le ombre si accorciano fin quasi a sparire, il cielo si riempie di veli bianchi e la luce diventa piena, generosa, come solo l'Appennino a inizio autunno sa regalare.

🌇 Il tramonto. Poi il sole torna a bassa quota e scende dietro le creste. I violini salgono nell'acuto, luminosi e sospesi come nel Preludio del Lohengrin di Wagner. I prati si fanno d'oro e poi di bronzo, il cielo si accende d'arancio e di rosa, le montagne diventano sagome scure ritagliate sulla luce.

🌌 La notte. Infine il buio. Una celesta accende le note una a una, come stelle, mentre un coro lontano tiene l'ultimo accordo, come il Nettuno di Holst che sfuma nel silenzio. Nella valle restano solo un paio di luci lontane e il profilo dei monti contro un cielo che non è mai del tutto nero.

Sessanta secondi, quattordici ore. Una giornata qualunque, che qualunque non è mai.

A Day in One Minute 🌄

There is a spot at Ca' Paradiso from which you can take in the whole valley at once.
That is where our webcam keeps watch from dawn to dark, patient as a farmer waiting for rain, recording every day the same view that is never quite the same.

This is 2 October 2026, told in sixty seconds.

🌅 Awakening. At 7:50 am the sun climbs over the mountains and slowly slides down the meadows. A trumpet rises fifth by fifth, as in Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra, the timpani pound and the day announces itself. The valley stretches, and the shadows of the oaks lengthen across the still-damp grass.

🌿 Morning. Then flute and oboe answer each other like two birds in the branches, in the manner of Grieg's Morning Mood. It is the hour when the hens scratch about, the bees leave their hives and the ploughed field waits to be sown. High, thin clouds, like brushstrokes, drift eastward.

☀️ Full day. With the sun high, the music becomes a hymn: strings and horns sing a broad, solemn tune in tribute to Holst's Jupiter. Shadows shrink almost to nothing, white veils fill the sky and the light turns full and generous, as only the Apennines in early autumn can offer.

🌇 Sunset. Then the sun sinks low and slips behind the ridges. The violins climb high, luminous and suspended, as in Wagner's Lohengrin Prelude. The meadows turn gold, then bronze, the sky glows orange and pink, and the mountains become dark silhouettes cut out against the light.

🌌 Night. Finally, darkness. A celesta lights its notes one by one, like stars, while a distant choir holds the last chord, like Holst's Neptune fading into silence. Only a couple of faraway lights remain in the valley, and the outline of the mountains against a sky that is never quite black.

Sixty seconds, fourteen hours. An ordinary day, which is never ordinary.

Sixteen hours ago, I created a song for the Hive Grove community. However, I observe that the lyrics are long, and living in an age of short attention spans, remembering long phrases is a struggle. So I decided to come up with a shorter song for the community. This time, the title is Drops Make a Forest, and here is the prompt I used to create this song:

Make the verses, chorus, and bridge even shorter for easy recall. Also emphasize a line that will serve as the punch message and be very memorable.

As for the musical style, I simply followed the recommended Suno prompts:

Stomp and clap indie folk, energetic community anthem, catchy acoustic pop, chanting chorus.

Just like the response to the first song, I hope the Hive Grove community will also enjoy this shorter song. Here are the lyrics of Drops Make a Forest:

The New 3Speak Frontend Is Now Live!

Hello, everyone!

We're ready to officially open the new 3Speak frontend for everyone to use.

Over the past weeks, more than 40 people from the community have been testing it, with 450+ videos uploaded so far. While many of these were test uploads, a good portion were large, real-world videos, which gave us valuable data and confidence in the new setup. The feedback has been very positive, and we want to thank everyone who took the time to test, report issues, and share their thoughts.

That said, there may be bugs, and that's expected at this stage. Feedback remains a key part of moving this forward.

What you can expect

Login and authentication

Login using Hive Keychain.
On mobile:
- You can use the Hive Keychain internal browser, or
- Log in via HiveAuth from any browser, confirm the login in Hive Keychain, and then return to the web app on your browser.
You can switch between accounts directly from the login section.

Faster uploads

A new upload server that significantly improves upload speed.

Publishing improvements

You can now upload images directly inside the description box.
A video scheduler is available. This feature may still have a few bugs, so to use it correctly, please make sure the video finishes uploading before publishing.

New open-source video player

A new video player is now live and fully open source. Link to the repo.
Note: Some videos, especially portrait videos, may not play correctly yet.
Contributions, fixes, and improvements are welcome.

Playback on Hive frontends

The new 3Speak frontend introduces a new video player, which requires Hive frontends to make small code changes to support it.

@Ecency has already integrated the new player, and videos are fully playable there.
The team at @PeakD has been informed and is currently working on the integration.
Hive.blog: @meno has submitted a merge request to Condenser to address this issue.
