Homegrown Ginger & Chicken Tinola for My Little One 💛

‎My little Aiden has been sick for two days now, and he’s slowly getting better. Though he still needs nourishing food to help him regain his strength.

‎I thought about what to cook that would be easy on his tummy and warm. Right away, Chicken Tinola came to my mind.
‎
‎It has a light, gingery broth that is exactly what he needs right now. 💛
‎
‎And because we have our own little garden, I didn’t need to rush to the market for ginger. I just stepped out and harvested.
‎
‎Some plants are still small because we only planted them recently, but I carefully chose the bigger ones.
‎

‎
‎And look! There was already nice, fresh ginger attached to the roots. 😍 It made me so happy.
‎

‎You know how expensive ginger has become here in the Philippines? It's ₱130 to ₱280 per kilogram.
‎
‎So having your own supply is such a big blessing and such a big help to the budget.
‎
‎It really proves that just by planting and caring for them, they’ll give back so much. 💚
‎
‎After harvesting it, I just removed the soil, trimmed away the roots and green stalks, and I got a fresh ginger ready to use. It is so wonderful because you can add it to salads, sauté it with garlic and onions, or simmer it in soups, just like what I did today. It adds a gentle warmth and aroma that makes the soup so comforting.

‎I also prepared everything else, like the chicken, fresh kangkong leaves, and a little fish sauce.

‎I just let it simmer until I have the broth that I want.

‎When I served it to Aiden, he loved the broth so much that he always asks for more.

Foreigners making the Phuket news cycle again for all the wrong reasons

It wasn't that long ago that the target of a lot of ire on the part of Thai people was that they really disliked Russian tourists and Russian expats. That all died down a few years ago but it just seems to be a bit trendy if you will, to reignite that fire every now and then.

It is ironic that the fire that is getting reignited right now is because of a literal fire that some Russian youths lit in the middle of a street during some sort of party that they were having in an area of Phuket.

Now, while I will agree that lighting fires in a public place is probably not the wisest thing to do, the public reaction to this is being blown WAY out of proportion and it is simply making people hate for the wrong reasons. These younger people were just doing stupid crap that young people do. Nobody was hurt, no property was damaged, really no harm was done. But the media is taking this story front and center because it seems as though the Thai media loves to focus on outsiders and do their best to make them look as bad as possible.

The thing that I am going to try to defend about these people is that even though setting fire to things isn't a good idea, they didn't damage anything or hurt anyone, and here's the kicker... they were actually being quite quiet.

The fires they started seemed to just be gasoline or kerosene or something like that and just around 10 people were hanging around and drinking and dancing.

One thing that really annoyed me about this article and the push it is getting on social media is that they really focus on the fact that there was a young woman there that was dressed sexy (inappropriately sexy) and the news story focuses on that as if it is some sort of attack on the purity of Thailand's innocence.

What a joke. Thailand has some of the most in-your-face and obvious prostitution circles the world has ever known. You go to any major city, especially tourism ones, and there will be young women wearing next to nothing to try to lure punters into whatever bar they are working at.

They blur her out, but you can still tell she is wearing next to nothing.

3 of these people were arrested and charged with "causing a public nuisance" and I can tell you what it going to happen to them. They are going to be charged some really silly small fine like 1000 Baht ($30) and then let go.

In the meantime though the social media "outrage" is just ridiculous. Thai people do much worse things than this on a regular basis. I was in my bedroom one night when some very drunk Thai men next to my apartment were shooting guns off into the air in celebration of something. It turns out that one of the guys was a police officer as well. No arrests were made in that instance but I think we can all agree that someone shooting off a firearm in the night multiple times is far more of a public nuisance than some 20 somethings who burn a little kerosene while dancing around a bluetooth speaker on a road with no people on it.

I tried to post the video but I guess I am not as tech savvy as I would like to be.

The news here seems to find a nationality every couple of weeks and tells the people to point the finger at them and blame them for the problems of the country and this is just kind of stupid.

Is it stupid to start a fire in a street? Yeah, of course it is. But we were all young once and we all did silly things like this. It isn't a big deal and I would like to see a bit more responsibility on the part of the people that create these stories.

Sarawak Literacy Festival

Good Morning to all my wonderful friends here. It's another wonderful Saturday. It's the day I go out and do some jogging to get some sweat out of my body.

Let's go visit the Sarawak Literature Festival.

Here in Miri, most parents and the locals prioritize learning. I believe that literacy is the key to success in our lives. This literacy festival at the moment is held at the local indoor stadium here in Miri for a few days.

The Stage

Some of the singers sing on the stage here.

A huge welcoming sign that welcomes everyone into the main area where you can visit the different booths that are available here that is related to literacy and boosting literacy here in Sarawak.

There is another stage here in the middle of the indoor stadium. Some of the local artist are going to perform here later in the day.

Popular bookstore

This is one of my favourite bookstores to visit here in Miri.

There are many other booths here.

This is the book exchange corner. You can bring a book to donate here, and if you want, take a book from here.

Some of the dolls that are made are catered to the local tribes and natives of Sarawak. A lot of the dolls even have their own customized costume. Is there any that you think looks pretty nice?

These are books that are all written by authors here in Sarawak. A lot of them are written in the local language. The language of Borneo is unique to the island of Borneo.

There is also a free voucher from Big Bad Wolf. I love buying books. Just presenting this voucher, I can get a discount.

Shipping My Laptop: A Trip to J&T

Yesterday, I had to talk to someone where he wants to buy my refurbished laptop. Well, I still have my refurbished laptop in my room and there were I think four of them but only one that was still working while the other three were not working or needed to fix the problem.

I had to talk to my classmate in the past days and while we were talking about stuffs, we topic about things like my refurbished laptop. While we were talking, he wants to buy the laptop that I had at a cheap price.

At first, I hesitated for him to buy the laptop because we wants to buy the laptop at the original price that I bought the laptop itself. I am still a seller that wants to get a smaller margin of profit but he insisted on buying the laptop at the original price on what I bought..

After our talking about this and that, we agreed together about less than the original price because the laptop itself has some issues and there were lots of problems that I encounter with it. Well, if it's in good condition, I would say and tell that I would sell it at a higher price because I bought a couple of things for that laptop like the battery that costs around 2,000 in the online shop and others.

I realized that I don't need more of the laptop because I have now a couple of laptops on my hand. So, in the end, I agreed to his terms with some adjustments because I spent a couple of things of the laptop even if I agreed with the price, there were some couple of things that I also told him about it.

At last, we agreed together and we plan on shipping this on one of the shipping store which was the JNT to deliver the parcel that I packed to get into his place. I went there by myself at first and ask about the pricing on how much is the price for this kind of material to be shipped out and stuffs.

Then after that, I went to the shipping store again together with the laptop that I brought because I am going to ship this to where the destination of my classmate. We talked a lot and there were stuffs that was going on.

I filled up my name and my classmate's name for the shipping and as well as paying the shipping fee of around $6 for the whole laptop and its accessories. I was relieve because I thought the price would be more or less $10 but in the end, it was $6.

It was another successful transaction with my classmate and the payment that we agreed beforehand was agreed and yeah, my refurbished laptop was now in another person's possession because they bought it.

Taking a walk tonight with my little family

Good evening hiver friends all...

Tonight my husband and I want to go out and take our children for a walk while enjoying the weekend and breathing in the evening breeze and enjoying the atmosphere tonight.

We left home at around 8 pm my friend. I live in the village and wanted to go to the city where I live, which is about 30 minutes from my house.Depends on the speed of the driver.

Here we looked for food first for ourselves, we stopped at our usual place, and because there were so many queues and visitors, I only had time to take a few photos while waiting for the food.
It's very tiring to have to wait, especially if we have a small baby. You know what it's like when we have a baby and have to wait a long time for the baby's food to arrive.

Look at the expression on my baby's face from the side, not so cheerful While holding her hand to her mouth, she looked around, but thank God she didn't cry, just pouted a little as usual.
Why is it taking so long for the food to arrive tonight?

The parking area is quite full tonight, there is a beautiful painting next to the parking wall which adds to the very attractive impression, the color green leaves create a beautiful view for the eyes,And they have quite a neat carriage standing, right?

After we ate we went straight home, and when we went home we passed a place selling children's toys on the side of the road And we immediately planned to go in to see what our child liked.

The name of the shop Madina berkah toys A good name, and the location is also strategic, we can park in front of the shop.

I just went in and started carrying my child and immediately asked him to choose, there were so many toys, so colorful...

There are some toys on the shelves and placed on a wide table and all the small toys on the table are mixed together, we just have to look at them and can choose what we like.

There are lots of toy cars here, from small to big, but here I don't buy cars, my friends, with prices ranging from cheap to quite expensive for toys.

And there are also many other toys here such as dolls, Barbie drawing books, stickers, baby bikes, and many others. We can't mention them one by one. 😆

After choosing and paying, we went straight home, and when we got home my child immediately opened and played with the toys we bought earlier.

A toy phone that makes sounds using batteries and a toy piano too.We had a wonderful evening with our little family.

Jama has reached 12 o'clock when we rest. May we all have sweet dreams.

A simple life and simple homemade from a few fresh ingredients in the home garden.

Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. This post is about garden vegetables and dishes made from a few simple ingredients from the home garden. Yesterday, my wife picked all the bok choy grown in the four plastic baskets to make a clear soup. Naturally, I need to replant some bok choy in these plastic baskets. I ordered several plastic bags of bok choy seeds online. Each bag contains about 400 bok choy seeds. I am only using one bag to grow them in these 4 plastic baskets. I am going to keep the remaining bok choy seeds in the plastic bags to plant in the ground later.

Currently, I still have bok choy planted in other four plastic baskets from a few weeks ago, but they haven't reached full size yet.

I am also growing coriander and spur chilies from seeds (Same online store as the bok choy seeds), but I planted them in a seedling tray.

I am also get rid of grass and weeds, then prepared the soil by tilling it with a hoe. Next step : planting the remaining bok choy seeds from the plastic bags in 1–2 days.

Let me show you some of our meals. This post is still focusing on lunch because we kept breakfast simple with just bread and milk, and my wife hasn't cooked dinner yet. Our lunch today is sticky rice, papaya salad (som tum), and fried chicken. My wife also gathered pandan leaves to use for cooking the sticky rice this time.

And harvest papaya, yardlong beans, and limes from the home garden for making papaya salad (som tum).

And this is the foods for one person.

Finally this morning, I also picked a papaya and guavas to eat fresh this afternoon.

Wednesdaywalk - New Sight Of Filipino Store

Today is the first day of October. I'm grateful to God for giving me His protection everyday. Wherever I go He's always by my side. Going out this time is not safety like before because of threat we encountered. But we believe in God and continue our desires.

Every end of the months, some of my friend have request for their foods and personal needs.
I started walking so early. When I reached the bus station, I decided to ride the bus until the bridge. It's too hot and maybe the El nono forecast is true.

Despite the treat of the country from missile attack, the place still peace and calm. I just feel so sad thinking how peaceful place here but bad people are doing this to this land.

There's an abundance of source of food in this land though it seldom having rain. Before coming Saudi, I thought there is no plant as it said, the desert land.

This is the Mini Foreign Market. The one who manage the store are from India who know how to speak Tagalog. He told me that every time he saw me, he reminded him of his elder sister. We have similarities in our face and height. He is so respectful man unlike the other who are not good. But it is also depends on the woman who came to their store without respect to themselves. He knows it and know everything about what Filipina are doing. I was shocked before when he told me.

The store have a lot of choices we want. It needs money.. I am not also buying for myself but for the request of my friends.

Wednesday Walk - Patron Fiesta At Home

I was too busy from school activities. Then we went home for the fiesta at home. I need to be home for the preparation. I joined a group of the community with the chapel members. We used to put up capital investment and the proceed would be used for the fiesta celebration. We bought meat and rice and divided among all members so we have for it and no need to spend more.

We were so busy and sone of my visitors from my school, old student and the family of my ex partner. They loved and respecters the same as usual during their brother was still with me. They know my worth how I helped him discovered himself better version than the time without me.Tyeir brother leave me behind but his sons and all his siblings still rooting our relationship. It was 15 years being with them. Their parents was still alive before until they gone. Our relationship never change most especially that their nephew is with me. I take care of them with love. Yes, their father still supporting his son who is in college and help the billing at home. He never tell her new partner that I am living with his son with his support. This house build when were together and told me upon our separation that this is our home and someday he will be back. He just asking for enough time. I'm waiting but not expecting the sugar coated he said. I accepted and move it out of my mind but I am still here to guide his children.

Anyway, the fiesta celebration we t well celebrated and with the help of my nephew, my driver and previous working student who visited me, made everything smooth and possible.

He was my working student too.

After the fiesta we helped each other cleaning all the dishes and the house

All the foods were not finished and we gave it to the visitors and part on it, we ate for the next day.

The first post is made by @daily.life. In my country a lot of people believe in Buddhism including my mom but my aunt believe in god. Buddhism has this thing where on a specific day the people who believe it cooks food to take it to the temple where it is and eat together which is technically the same thing.

Our second post is made by @cdaveboyles23. That is very inspiring since sometimes that happens to my family when my dad is trying to take my sister, my mom, and me to the US so we can meet his side of the family and now he did it. I'm really really shy and making friends is the hardest thing for me so like kids at my school just kind of made me a part of they're group which is really nice. I'm getting braver to ask people for help and stuff.

The third post on this list is made by @luueetang. My dad sells stuff on eBay and he also buys stuff and sometime when he gets the package he doesn't know what it is and the same thing happens with my grandma since she buys a lot of stuff. I love anything that has bean filling cause its so good. Last year in science class at my school we were experimenting with mooncakes and we got to eat it after we were done with cutting it. The last post is made by @dewabrata. Here in America, when ever my family goes to a restaurant my dad usually gets the same thing every time which is fried rice and its either that the peas aren't fully cooked or that the rice is a bit hard but sometimes the fried rice is ok.

We catholic have this kind of traditions to do fiesta celebration and as for that big celebration activities just like cooking lots of foods for the visitors. Before the celebration started, cleaning the entire place at the chapel. All Zone members are helping with each other so the works will finished on time.

The government don't shoulder the expenses though it was planned and my daughters represent from school.

Welcome back to another week of Culture Corner and we are starting off with a post made by @kriang3teejoe and it is about going to an event at a 99-year-old Wat Pong Nok. I gotta say I love it when the pagoda has events cause you know there will be free food which can be good or bad, but the street food is always the best.
