ONE DAY TO MANAGE HIVE? I WOULD MAKE IT FAIR FOR EVERYONE__ Week#64

MANAGE HIVE FOR ONE DAY.

If I wake up tomorrow and they say, okay, you are the manager of Hive for today, 24 hours, I will be very happy. Because there are some things I have been seeing on Hive that I don't like.

The first thing I will do is to stop reward for copy and paste.

I see some accounts, they just copy from AI or copy from Google, paste 1000 words, get big votes. While some of us that sit down for one hour to write original story, we get 0.02. It is discouraging.

If I manage Hive for one day, I will create a small team that checks for originality. Not to punish, but to reduce reward for copy work and give more reward to original people. If you write your own story, even if your English is not perfect, you deserve more than someone copying perfect grammar from internet.

Second thing, I will bring back comments culture.

Before, people used to comment. Now everyone just upvotes and goes. No one talks. Hive is supposed to be social. If I am manager, I will make a rule: if a big curator upvotes a post, he should leave at least one sentence comment. That one sentence can encourage a newbie to stay for one year. I have seen it. One comment from big account can change a small account's morale.

Third thing, I will make Hive easy for phone users.

Most students in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, we use phone. But some front ends are hard on phone. Image upload fails, formatting scatters. I will make a very light mode for low data and small phone, so that student with Tecno phone and 100mb can still post and browse without stress.

And my last one, I will do a live voice town hall. One day, one hour. Every Hive user can come and talk. No big man forming. Just open mic. Let people say what is paining them. Sometimes people just want to be heard.

One day is small. I cannot fix everything. But if I can make Hive more original, more commenting, more phone friendly, and more listening, I think many students will stay longer.

Hive is not just blockchain, it is people. And students are the future of Hive.

Hello guys, it's another great week and I am very happy and excited to be here with you all. This is give students community week 64, and I am very glad to be participating with you all. I hope the week has been going well for you all because it has been going well for me. For this week we have been given an amazing topic that needs you to think well before you answer.

This week topic is all about if you are given the opportunity to manage hive for one day wath will you do. And for me it's a very Interesting topic because I feel I have many changes I would love to do in hive community to make it a better place for both the newbies and the old ones. The first thing I am going to do is to organise a hive contests, for everyone, and collaborate with all the active hive communities, and this contest is going to be organised in a way that it will favour everyone participating in it.

One of the thing that makes people especially newbies leave hive is that they don't know the rules or they are not properly thought about hive and how it works, so when they start making post and don't get upvotes they become discouraged, and eventually leave. So they contest will be more about hive and it will be used as a medium to teach them how hive works, and also the does and don't of hive.

I will also do anything in my power to see that the prize of hive increases so that it will encourage those people making posts everyday to keep it on. This are the few things I think I will firstly do. Thanks for stopping by, see you all next week. Bye.

MY PLAN FOR HIVE IF I HAD ONE DAY IN CHARGE __#64

I woke up and saw the prompt and I had to think deep. If they really give me Hive to manage for one day, what will I do?

First thing I will do is fix the newbie welcome.

Because I remember when I joined Hive newly, I was so confused. I posted, no votes, no comments. I almost left. Many new students feel like that. They join Hive Student Connect, they are excited, but after one week of posting with 0.00, they get tired and leave.

If I manage Hive for one day, I will create a special support pool for accounts less than 3 months old. Not big money, just small $1, $2 upvotes to encourage them. Just to say "we see you, keep posting." That small encouragement can keep a person on Hive for one year.

Second thing, I will support the middle people. Those who are not whales, not newbies. Those who post every day, write 300 words, original, but still get only 0.10. They are the engine of Hive. If they stop, Hive will be empty. I will make a curation that goes around and finds posts with less than $1 but with good effort and push them.

Third thing I will fix is community connection. Some communities feel like clique. If you are not in their inner circle, they will never curate you. If I have power for one day, I will make a rule: every community must curate at least 5 new faces every week. So that new Hivers also feel belonging.

And last thing, I will make onboarding easier. Right now to explain Hive to my friend in school is hard. Keys, Dapp, RC, all those things. I will make a very simple video guide pinned on Peakd homepage - "Hive in 5 minutes for Students." So when a student joins, he will not be scared.

I cannot fix all Hive problems in one day. But if I can help newbies stay, help small creators grow, and make Hive feel less like big man club and more like student community, then my one day management is worth it.

Because Hive grew because of people, not because of code. If we keep people, Hive will grow.

A More Friendly Hive For Newbies

If I am to manage hive for one day, I'd certainly focus on things that makes hive more welcoming, especially to the new users without someone to mentor them.
Some of those things I'd do are:

1️⃣ I would make understanding hive more easier: instead of looking for someone to to ask questions, I'd provide a beginner's guide to assist with any difficulty they may encounter after creating account. And also to explain some of the terms in hive; like hive power, curation, resource credit, and so on.

2️⃣ I will make choosing the right tag easier. Imagine after making a post, you're confused on the relevant tags to use.No new user will have to use inappropriate tag or even miss the relevant ones to use. And how will I achieve this? I would introduce a smart feature that automatically suggests the right tag. And of course, each user will have the freedom to choose their tags.And no, I won't make it forever, I would make sure that the feature stays for a period of time, enough to get used to everything.

3️⃣ Another thing I would explain especially to new users is downvotes, imagine publishing your contents and a particular account keeps downvoting your post without any explanation.
And even when, you reach out to them to at least ask why they do that, you're being ignored. This doesn't encourage the new users at all, instead it makes it look like they're actually attacking their posts. I'm saying this because, I have seen a lot of users publish a post about being downvoted and also being ignored too.

4️⃣ Lastly I will make discovering communities easier, Some new users publish on their blog when they don't even have enough followers, this can make their posts less visible. ..
This is just the little I would have done in hive if I am given a day to manage hive. But the big question is; can a day be enough for all these?
Well, I don't know, but I am approaching this topic based on the perspective of a new hive user who also wants to see the platform grow and be fair to everyone.

Good Content, No Recognition: What I'd Change About Hive.

If I could have a day to myself to either be in charge of hive or manage it, one thing I would do/fix is something that would greatly benefit new users and old users who seem to be unnoticed even though they are creating/writing good, nice, and amazing content.

First off, most new users find a lot of things confusing; they heard how the community/platform is one where you can be you, create content, and earn from it through upvotes, but even still they seem to not understand how it works. I remember someone asking me sometime ago how someone's 10% upvote could give them $2 and another person's 100% upvote is giving them $0.001 as rewards. I had to explain things to them and make them see how that actually works. Other times, people don't know how to participate in a contest, as some communities are filled with just so many rules. And while some people are able to find someone who's guiding and putting them through, others don't have this opportunity, and you see them leaving without anyone noticing.

So, what I would do is work on something that would make Hive easier and simpler for new users to understand. Just a very simple guide that consists of and explains how to create good posts, engage with others, earn, grow, participate in contests, and what terms like "HP," "RC," and the like are and what they mean too. I would also encourage experienced users to try as much as possible to pay attention to new users the best way they could.

Also, try as much as possible to support new users' posts, both with engagement and upvotes. This also concerns even old users whose posts' content seems unnoticed. I know no one can force anyone to do anything, but then this is a community, and we all should help each other grow as a family that we are. And a little encouragement through upvotes, support, advice, and engagement would help make a huge difference.

Hive definitely goes beyond a place where you come to earn; it is a community/platform where you can learn, connect, be you, build meaningful relationships, and all of that. So, if I have a day to do something, I would do something that would make things easier and the platform welcoming for the next person joining in.
