It wasn’t just a matter of repairing a single pipe; it required structural intervention, redoing connections, and ensuring that everything would function efficiently and reliably for the long term.

What I value most about this experience is that I wasn’t just a passive observer. I chose to get directly involved and serve as an assistant at every stage of the project. I carried materials, mixed cement, handed over tools, and learned to identify every component of the plumbing system. This level of participation gave me a perspective I never could have gained simply by paying for a service: I came to understand the value of manual labor, the importance of precision, and the physical effort that goes into every installation.

At the same time, I also recognized my own limitations. Certain tasks required specialized technical knowledge—such as welding pipes, calculating pressure levels, leveling floors, and professional-grade sealing. In those instances, I had to rely on specialists. This wasn’t an act of giving up, but rather a smart decision; knowing when to ask for help is, in itself, a way of solving problems.

The process was neither quick nor simple. There were days filled with dust, noise, and disorder—moments when it seemed the problem was growing worse before it began to improve. Yet, each day brought progress: a new connection, a repaired wall, a faucet working once again. The combination of my own efforts as an assistant and the expertise of the professionals resulted in a comprehensive solution.

Today, after weeks of work, I can say that one of the major issues in my home has been resolved. Water flows normally, with no leaks or interruptions. But beyond the technical fix, I’ve gained valuable lessons: the importance of investing in definitive solutions, a respect for specialized trades, and the satisfaction of having been an active participant in the solution.

A final remark

If I’ve learned anything from all this, it’s that water-related problems cannot be solved by good intentions alone. They require planning, investment, and, above all, teamwork. Sometimes you have to play the role of an assistant; at other times, you have to trust those who know more. The important thing is not to give up and to find a way to move forward.

Hola, amigos de Home Solutions. Espero que estén teniendo un maravilloso domingo en familia. Hoy quiero compartirles una reflexión y un proceso que a muchos nos apasiona: la elección de los colores para pintar el interior de la casa y cómo con el tiempo aprendemos a crear espacios en verdadera armonía.

Para serles sincera, al principio no sabía "ni papa" sobre la teoría del color ni sobre decoración. Cuando estaba soltera, llegué a hacer combinaciones en mi cuarto que eran bastante fuertes para ser un lugar destinado al descanso. Sin embargo, con el paso de los años y la experiencia, he aprendido a tomar mejores decisiones en mi hogar.

El tema del color es algo en lo que siempre me tomo mi tiempo, porque las cosas que no combinan o los tonos saturados me hacen ruido visual muy rápidamente. Inicialmente, cuando me mudé a este apartamento, lo pinté en un tono champán. Today I want to share a reflection and a process that many of us are passionate about: choosing colors to paint the interior of our homes and how, over time, we learn to create spaces that are truly harmonious.
To be honest, at first I didn’t know “a thing” about color theory or interior design. When I was single, I ended up creating color combinations in my bedroom that were way too bold for a space meant for rest. However, over the years and with experience, I’ve learned to make better decisions for my home.
Color is something I always take my time with, because things that don’t go together or overly saturated shades create visual noise for me very quickly. Initially, when I moved into this apartment, I painted it a champagne shade. Then I decided to switch it to a soft orange called “oruguayana,” a fairly muted shade that I also really liked the way it looked.

Tiempo después, pasé del naranja al gris, un color que disfruté bastante y que quedaba precioso en combinación con el blanco. En mi apartamento hay una pared larga que sí o sí me gusta mantener siempre blanca, porque ese detalle visual ayuda a que todo el espacio se vea mucho más amplio, largo y lleno de luz natural.

Hace poco fui a unos consultorios y tenían un tono verde especial: no era un verde manzana, ni un verde limón, era un verde con tonos grisáceos. Como ya había durado unos años con el gris, quería algo distinto, igual de sobrio y cálido, pero en otro tono que renovara las energías del hogar.

Some time later, I switched from orange to gray, a color I really enjoyed and that looked beautiful paired with white. In my apartment, there’s a long wall that I always make a point of keeping white, because that visual detail helps the entire space look much more spacious, longer, and filled with natural light.
The back, front, and hallway walls are the ones I tend to pair with contrasting shades. Although green has been my favorite color my whole life, pure green for interiors doesn’t quite work for my apartment. That’s why, this time, I was looking for a more balanced and elegant shade that would convey a sense of peace.
I recently visited some doctors’ offices, and they had a special shade of green: it wasn’t apple green or lime green—it was a green with grayish undertones. Since I’d already lived with gray for a few years, I wanted something different—just as understated and warm—but in a different shade that would revitalize the energy of my home.

Una solución rápida, fácil y "low cost" | A quick, easy, and low-cost solution ✂️📐

Hello gente de Hive, como va todo? Hace rato que no pasaba por la comunidad, y aunque he hecho muchas cositas en casa he olvidado documentarlas porque en serio que voy saltando de una cosa a otra, pero hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajo súper sencillito que hice en casa, pero que representó un gran cambio en mi habitación, se trata de una cobertura para los bordes del box o mejor dicho boxes de mi cama (y de mi esposo).

Creo que ya en otras oportunidades les he comentado que tenemos una cama tamaño king y, en lugar de un solo box, tenemos dos boxes de camas individuales, y nuestro colchón calza perfecto, pero al estar al ras del suelo y no tener un ruffle (cobertor para el box) se ha ido ensunciando la tela que lo recubre, y la verdad es que no me gustaba para nada como lucía ya que las sábanas no lo cubren por completo así que decidí resolver ese problema.

It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by the community, and even though I’ve been doing lots of little things around the house, I’ve forgotten to document them because I’m constantly jumping from one thing to the next. But today I want to share with you a super simple project I did at home that made a big difference in my bedroom—it’s a cover for the edges of my bed frame, or rather, my bed frames (and my husband’s).

I think I’ve mentioned before that we have a king-size bed, and instead of a single box spring, we have two twin box springs, and our mattress fits perfectly, but since it sits flush with the floor and doesn’t have a ruffle (a bedskirt), the fabric covering it has been getting wrinkled, and honestly, I didn’t like the way it looked at all because the sheets don’t cover it completely, so I decided to fix that problem.

La solución fue bastante sencilla, y es que además de no dar ni una sola puntada, solo utilicé tres cosas: una cortina negra que no usaba, una tijera y una pistola de silicón y listo, con pocos materiales y de manera muy sencilla resolví un problema que me generaba mucho ruido visual. The solution was pretty simple: not only did I not have to sew a single stitch, but I also only used three things—a black curtain I wasn't using, a pair of scissors, and a silicone gun—and that was it. En vista de que la parte inferior del box queda contra el suelo y la parte superior queda cubierta por el colchón la verdad no me preocupé mucho por la prolijidad en ninguna de esas dos zonas, por eso fue que decidí usar la pistola de silicón, además que sería mucho más rápido.

Lo primero que hice fue medir (a ojo) el ancho del box y dejé aproximadamente 5 cm adicionales de cada lado y corté con ayuda de la tijera y sin mucha prolijidad como pueden ver 🤣

Since the bottom of the box rests against the floor and the top is covered by the mattress, I honestly didn’t worry too much about neatness in either of those two areas—that’s why I decided to use the silicone gun; plus, it would be much faster.

The first thing I did was measure (by eye) the width of the box, leaving about 5 cm extra on each side, and then I cut it with scissors—not very neatly, as you can see 🤣

Una vez corté todas las piezas de tela, lo siguiente fue comenzar a pegarla con ayuda de la pistola de silicón y mi hija Miranda, quien se encargó de sostener la tela y tensarla para poder pegarla al box hasta completar todos los lados de ambos boxes.

Once I had cut out all the pieces of fabric, the next step was to start gluing them in place using the hot glue gun and with the help of my daughter Miranda, who held the fabric and kept it taut so I could glue it to the box until all the sides of both boxes were finished.

What I did was apply small lines of hot silicone, then position the fabric and press down with my fingers to make sure it adhered well, and in this way, I covered one of the edges.

We moved into the new room [Eng/Esp]

Hello, friends at Hive and @home.solutions. I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to give you an update on how the changes in the house are going. For now, I’ll tell you that we’ve already moved our things from our old bedroom to my mother-in-law’s old room—as I mentioned before, she moved to the ground floor of the house. So, my wife wanted to move our things into my mother-in-law’s room and turn our old bedroom into a dining room, since the one we have now is too small.

Since my mother-in-law’s room had been empty for almost a year, we gradually filled it up with all sorts of things. We had the kids’ bedroom sets in there—they weren’t using them anymore—and a few closets were still assembled, but the beds and other items had been taken apart, and all that stuff was crammed into that room, along with things that were in the room where Miranda is staying right now. So that room was basically a storage area, and we had to clear it all out so we could move in.

My wife did almost all of that work with the kids’ help because I’m short on time due to my responsibilities with my parents and work, but I helped with the bigger items, and after a few weeks, we were able to clear out the entire room to start rearranging things. And we did that over the weekend.

Ese cuarto de la suegra como estaba desocupado hace casi un año, lo fuimos llenando de muchas cosas, ahí teníamos los juegos de cuarto de los muchachos porque ya no lo están usando, nada más, unos closets quedaron armados, pero se desarmaron las camas y otras cosas y toda esa manera estaba metida en ese cuarto, además de cosas que estaban en el cuarto donde está Miranda ahorita. Entonces eso prácticamente ese cuarto era un depósito, y había que sacar todo eso para poder mudarnos.

Ese trabajo casi todo lo hizo mi esposa con ayuda de los muchachos porque estoy corto de tiempo por las responsabilidades con mis padres y el trabajo, pero ayudé con las cosas más grandes y, después de unas semanas, pudimos desocupar todo el cuarto para comenzar a cambiar las cosas. Y eso lo hicimos el fin de semana.

This room is practically the same size as the one we were in before—it’s just a little bigger, maybe about 50 centimeters larger—so we had no trouble moving the furniture in. The thing is, since that room has a bathroom, there’s a door in the middle of one wall, and that limits our space. So we had to arrange some things differently than we had in our old room, and because of the room’s layout, we couldn’t bring the entertainment unit.

We also had to leave a closet that my mother-in-law had, because it’s built-in and we didn’t want to go to the trouble of removing it—and since it was the same size as ours, we left it. The only thing is that the colors of all the furniture are different, but Rosa will take care of all that later.

Este cuarto es prácticamente del mismo tamaño del cuarto donde estábamos antes, es un poquito más grande, si acaso unos 50 centímetros más, así que no había problema de pasar los muebles, la cosa es que, como ese cuarto tiene un baño, hay una puerta en el medio en una pared y eso nos limita el espacio. Entonces hubo que meter unas cosas de forma diferente a como las teníamos en el cuarto nuestro y por la forma de la habitación no pudimos traer el mueble de entretenimiento.

También tuvimos que dejar un armario que tenía la suegra, porque está empotrado y no quisimos ponernos en el trabajo de sacarlo y como era del mismo tamaño del de nosotros, lo dejamos. Lo único es que los colores de todos los muebles son diferentes, pero, más adelante, Rosa se va a encargar de todo eso.

Moving the hallway door [Eng/Esp]

Today I'm here to tell you that after spending almost a month trying to get the carpenter to come and move the hallway door to its new location and install a small section of drywall from the door frame to the ceiling, I had to do the work myself because we really needed to get it done.

Hoy vine para contarles que después de estar casi un mes detrás del carpintero para que viniera a mover la puerta del pasillo a su nuevo lugar y hacer en drywall una pequeña porción de pared desde el marco de la puerta hasta el techo tuve que ponerme a hacer ese trabajo porque ya nos urgía resolver eso.

We put that door in years ago in the middle of the hallway because we’re on the second floor of the house, and since we had air conditioners, we had to do that so the cool air wouldn’t escape. At that time, we installed the door and put up drywall from the door frame to the ceiling, taking advantage of the fact that there was a beam there.

Doing that also helped with privacy, because it made the space feel like a two-bedroom apartment—with a kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom—but a few months ago, my mother-in-law moved downstairs, and we had the entire upper floor to ourselves, so we took the opportunity to move Miranda out of her brother’s room so that everyone could have their own space.

Esa puerta la pusimos hace años en la mitad del pasillo porque estamos en la segunda planta de la casa y como teníamos aires acondicionados había que hacer eso para que no se escapara. En esa ocasión se puso la puerta y se instaló drywall desde el marco de la puerta hasta el techo, aprovechando que había una viga allí.

Hacer eso también nos ayudó con la privacidad, porque quedamos como con un tipo de apartamento con dos cuartos, la cocina, comedor sala y baño, pero hace unos meses la suegra se mudó para la planta de abajo y todo el piso de arriba nos quedó libre y aprovechamos para que Miranda saliera del cuarto de su hermano y cada quien tuviese su propio lugar.

The thing is, that room and one other are outside the door, and we had to move it so my daughter wouldn't be left out, so we had to expand the apartment 🤣

We’d even installed the new air conditioner, but we couldn’t turn it on because the air was leaking out. My son and my wife took the door down together, and then Matías helped me install it on the other side of the hallway. I had to drill holes to secure the frames with screws and wall plugs. The door frame had two parts—one like a frame and the other part that attaches to it—but we ran into a problem because the frame wouldn’t fit into place, even though it’s in the same hallway but further down.

Greetings community. Today I'm here to share my experience at El Castillo, a textile store that sells fabrics, household items, school supplies, and much more. Almost two weeks ago, I went with my dance teacher to the store located on Avenida 20 and Calle 29 to buy fabric for my daughters.

The saleswoman helped us and cut the length of fabric I needed. I was about to pay when my gaze shifted to the flower section. I confess that it felt like being in a garden. Touching the petals, their fine, delicate texture, made me want to have a floral arrangement at home to decorate my living room.

That stylishly decorated space in the store conveyed happiness and beauty to me; there were sunflowers, roses, flowers, orchids, and other plants whose names I don't know, in various colors.

It was so beautiful, I didn't want to leave; its beauty captivated me, the variety of flowers and roses. These have uses: they can decorate a home, office, or a cake, as well as adorn hair.

Making centerpieces, wreaths for the deceased, or giving a flower arrangement to someone on their birthday or anniversary is an excellent option...

You can decorate headbands with flowers; they are very useful. I was about to leave and I dared to take out my camera to take pictures; one of them was with some beautiful sunflowers.

I invite you to visit the Castle in Barquisimeto. This store is spread throughout the national territory so you can see and buy, and decorate your interiors and exteriors with artificial objects, similar to natural ones.

Saludos comunidad, hoy estoy aquí para contar mi experiencia en el Castillo, una tienda textil, que vende telas,articulos para el hogar, útiles escolares y mucho más. Hace casi dos semanas, fui con la maestra de danza al local que se encuentra ubicado en la avenida 20 con calle 29, para la compra de la tela para mis hijas.

La vendedora nos atendió y nos cortó los metros que necesiba con la tela en mano, iba a dirigirme a pagar, cuando mi mirada se traslado al área de las flores. Les confieso que mi impresión fue estar en un jardín, el tocar los pétalos, su textura fina, delicada me hizo pensar en tener en casa un arreglo floral para decorar mi sala.

Ese espacio decorado con estilo en la tienda, me transmitió felicidad y belleza, habían girasoles, rosas,flores, orquideas,y otras plantas que desconozco sus nombres, de varios colores.

Era tan hermoso, no me provocaba salir de allí, me cautivo su belleza, la variedad de flores y rosas.Estas tienen funciones: pueden decorar en el hogar, oficina,o una torta, así como adornar el cabello.

Today I want to share my experience of looking for and buying a blender. I had needed one for a while because the one we had at home broke down; even though I tried to fix it, it only worked for a short time. So, I went downtown to see what I could find, and the truth is that none of the blenders I came across cost less than 25 dollars. However, just as I was about to give up hope, I arrived at a store called Summer 25, where I found a really good deal.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi experiencia buscand y comprando una licuadora. Desde hace tiempo yo estaba necesitando una porque la que teníamos en casa se dañó y a pesar de que yo intenté arreglarla solo funcionó por un tiempo, entonces me fuí al centro a ver que encontraba y la verdad es que todas las licuadras que encontraba no bajaban de 25 dólares, pero cuando ya estaba a punto de perder las esperanzas llegué a una tienda llamada Summer 25 donde encontré una muy buena oferta.

I found this blender there for just 22 dollars; the brand is Contihome. To be honest, I had never seen it before, but that doesn't mean it's poor quality—quite the opposite. I looked up some reviews online, and the ones I found were very positive, so I didn't think twice about buying it—especially since it has a glass jar, unlike the plastic-jar models. However, I did some research and found out that you can't blend hot foods in it.

Allí encontré esta licuadra en solo 22 dólares, la marca es Contihome, la verdad es que nunca la había vito pero eso no significa que sea de mala calidad, al cntrario, me dediqué a buscar algunas reseñas en internet y las que encontré fueron muy buenas, así que no lo pensé dos veces y la compré, sobre todo porque tiene el vaso de vidrio, y la diferencia de precio con respecto a la que tiene el vaso de plástico. Sin embargo investigué y no se le puede añadir alimentos calientes para licuar.

I got home really excited to try it out, even though they had already tested it at the store. When I opened the box, the first thing I found was the glass pitcher; it clearly looks like high-quality, durable material. This is an important factor to consider, as I want to crush ice—something that’s impossible to do with a plastic-pitcher blender like the one I used to have.

Llegué a casa muy entusiasmada con la idea de probarla, aunque ya lo habían hecho en la tienda. Cuando abrí la caja lo primero que encontré fue el vaso de vidrio, se nota de buena calidad, un material resistente, y esto es alg que parece importante a tomar en cuenta porque a mi me gustaría triturar hielo, y en una licuadora de vaso plástico como la que yo tenía es imposible.

When I tried it out, I realized it was incredibly powerful; it also features five speeds and a special button for crushing ice to make the famous *cepillado*—or *raspado*—which is a very refreshing drink here in Venezuela. My old blender had broken down; it started making strange noises, and the pitcher stopped fitting properly. Although I tried to fix it more than once, at some point it was as if it had simply said, "That's it—no more," so I had to look for a new one.

¡Hola, querida comunidad! Hoy me siento muy feliz y orgullosa de compartir con ustedes un proyecto de transformación muy especial que se llevó a cabo en el lugar donde vivo.

Las áreas comunes de nuestros edificios o residencias son la primera impresión al llegar a casa, pero con el paso del tiempo, el clima y el uso diario, es normal que se vayan deteriorando. Las paredes de nuestro pasillo y escaleras ya mostraban el paso de los años: la pintura se estaba cayendo, lucía descascarada y el espacio se sentía un poco apagado y triste. Aquí pueden ver cómo lucía todo antes de comenzar:

Hello, dear community! Today I am very happy and proud to share with you a very special transformation project that took place right where I live.

The common areas of our buildings or residences are the very first impression when we arrive home. However, over time, due to the weather and daily use, it is normal for them to deteriorate. The walls of our hallway and stairs were already showing the passing of the years: the paint was peeling off, it looked flaky, and the space felt a bit dull and sad. Here you can see how everything looked before we started:

Al ver esto, mi papá decidió que era momento de un cambio y se puso manos a la obra. Él mismo asumió el reto de recuperar este espacio para regalarnos a todos los vecinos un ambiente mucho más agradable, limpio y lleno de energía.

El proceso llevó su esfuerzo. Primero hubo que raspar muy bien las paredes dañadas, quitar toda la pintura vieja acumulada y preparar la superficie para que el resultado fuera duradero. Aquí pueden ver a mi papá en plena acción, trabajando con mucho entusiasmo:

Seeing this, my dad decided it was time for a change and got straight to work. He personally took on the challenge of restoring this space to give all the neighbors a much more pleasant, clean, and energetic environment.

The process took some real effort. First, the damaged walls had to be scraped thoroughly to remove all the old accumulated paint and prepare the surface so the results would last. Here you can see my dad in full action, working with a lot of enthusiasm:

Después de la preparación, llegó el momento más divertido y esperado: ¡el color! Decidimos arriesgarnos con un tono turquesa / azul vibrante que contrastara con el blanco del techo y de las barandas de la escalera. Queríamos que el área común transmitiera frescura y alegría cada vez que alguien subiera o bajara por aquí. ¡Y este fue el increíble resultado final!

After the preparation, the most fun and long-awaited moment arrived: the color! We decided to take a risk with a vibrant turquoise/blue tone to contrast with the white of the ceiling and the staircase railings. We wanted the common area to transmit freshness and joy every time someone walked up or down. And this was the amazing final result!

Como toque final, aprovechamos los marcos de piedra de las ventanas para colocar una hermosa colección de plantas en macetas. Siento que el verde de la naturaleza combina perfecto con el nuevo color de las paredes y le da un ambiente súper hogareño y pacífico al edificio. Además, las ventanas ahora enmarcan la vista hacia la comunidad de una manera mucho más bonita.

A veces no se necesita una gran empresa de remodelación para cambiar nuestro entorno; basta con la iniciativa, el trabajo duro y las ganas de ver nuestro espacio bonito. Estoy sumamente agradecida con mi papá por su dedicación y por regalarnos este espacio tan renovado.

As a final touch, we took advantage of the stone window frames to place a beautiful collection of potted plants. I feel that the green of nature matches perfectly with the new color of the walls and gives a super cozy and peaceful vibe to the building. Plus, the windows now frame the view of the community beautifully.
