Aguaymanto: a peruvian fruit

Today I tried a fruit I hadn’t eaten before here in Peru: aguaymanto a fruit native to the Peruvian Andes that is grown in several regions, such as Cajamarca, Áncash, Cusco, and Huánuco. At first, I was a bit hesitant to try it, and I found myself overthinking whether or not I’d like it, haha! But I finally went for it, and to my surprise, I quite enjoyed it.

It has a tangy, sour note though not too intense and since I happen to like sour flavors, that was a plus for me. It’s definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite fruits. Sometimes I worry too much before trying something new, only to find out that I actually like it. The lesson here is to keep giving ourselves the chance to discover new things; we might like some and not others, but at least we find out.

Hoy probé una fruta que no había comido antes aquí en Perú: el aguaymanto, una fruta originaria de los Andes peruanos que se cultiva en varias regiones, como Cajamarca, Áncash, Cusco y Huánuco. Al principio me dio un poco de desconfianza probarla y ya estaba sobrepensando si me gustaría o no, jajaja. Pero finalmente me animé y, para mi sorpresa, me gustó bastante.

Tiene un toque ácido, pero sin ser demasiado intenso, y como a mí me gustan las cosas ácidas, creo que fue un punto a favor. Definitivamente, se suma a mi lista de frutas favoritas. A veces me preocupo demasiado antes de probar algo nuevo y luego resulta que me gusta. La lección aquí es seguir dándonos la oportunidad de descubrir cosas diferentes, algunas nos van a gustar y otras no, pero lo descubrimos.

Exploring Himachal Before Winter: A Soulful Journey Through Kasol, Tosh and Dharamshala

There is something magical about Himachal Pradesh just before winter begins. The air becomes colder, the forests slowly change their colours, and the mountain peaks begin to wear their first layers of snow. The busy summer season starts to fade, leaving behind a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere that makes exploring the Himalayas even more special. This time, my journey took me through three beautiful destinations, Kasol, Tosh, and Dharamshala, each offering a completely different experience of mountain life. From the golden sunlight touching the forest covered hills of Parvati Valley to the moonlit mountains shining above distant villages, every moment felt like an invitation to slow down and appreciate the beauty around me. Pre winter is a season of transition, when the landscapes seem to pause between the warmth of autumn and the cold silence of winter. I wanted to experience this transformation firsthand, travel through unfamiliar corners, discover peaceful viewpoints, and collect memories that would stay with me long after returning home.

My exploration began in Kasol, a beautiful Himalayan destination nestled along the Parvati River in Kullu district. Known for its mountain scenery, riverside cafés, pine forests, and relaxed atmosphere, Kasol has a charm that attracts travellers throughout the year. However, visiting before winter brings a different feeling altogether. The mornings are crisp, the evenings become noticeably colder, and the surrounding mountains appear especially dramatic beneath the clear blue sky. As I explored the valley, I found myself constantly looking towards the distant ridgelines, where sunlight painted the mountain slopes in shades of gold and orange. The forests looked deep and mysterious, while scattered houses and small settlements added warmth to the vast landscape. Kasol is not only a place to visit for its popular cafés or lively streets. It is also a wonderful starting point for discovering the quieter side of Parvati Valley. Sometimes, the best experiences come from walking away from the crowded areas, following a peaceful trail, and simply allowing the natural surroundings to guide the day.

One of the most beautiful moments of the journey was watching the late afternoon sunlight illuminate the mountains. As the sun moved towards the horizon, the upper ridges turned brilliant shades of amber, orange, and gold, while the forests below remained covered in cool blue shadows. The contrast created a scene that looked almost painted by hand. Tall conifers covered the slopes, forming dark green patterns across the landscape, and the occasional snow covered section of a distant summit added another layer of beauty. I stood watching the colours change, noticing how quickly the sunlight moved across the mountain faces. In the Himalayas, golden hour feels especially meaningful because the mountains transform within minutes. A familiar slope can suddenly look completely different as the light changes its angle. These are the moments when photography becomes more than simply taking pictures. It becomes an attempt to preserve a feeling, a particular atmosphere, and the quiet excitement of witnessing something beautiful. The mountains seemed to glow from within, reminding me that some of the finest experiences in travel require nothing more than time, patience, and an open mind.

I put off watching this movie i heard of for the longest time because of the misconception i had about the genre of the movie, i had thought that it was a sci-fi horror type movie, infact i had mistaken it for “Parasyte :The gray” which also turned out to be a Korean television series, the pattern of repetitively coming across the name, wether it be that someone mentioned or whatnot was hilarious now that i think about , and i saw what-not because i can’t seem to describe the jalopy the the event i just knew i kept hearing about an award winning movie featuring“. Who i knew from the k-drama coffee prince,. On my finding out about the difference between the film, i was happy to get to see his work that had earned an academy award , the name was rather intriguing for me, i wanted to see how the storyline i read about play

The Storyline:

Parasite 2019 movie is written by Bong joon ho and Han jin won and directed by Bong joon Ho starrs main character Lee Sun-kyung, Park so-dam, choi-Woo-shik, Cho yeo-jeong and briefly features Park Seo-joon. The story follows the life of a Family who in the state of less privileged simultaneously attempt to achieve a better future and situation for their family this perpetuates in a way that a crafty plan is ensued to enable every family member to be an associate with and gain employment opportunities with a rich family they get referrals to. In this situation every thing begins to go downhill and much reflecting is left to be made of what later becomes in the aftermath

The movie started typically, showing the kims family and the live they lived in a what you would call “an unflattering Neighborhood”, they present as a family with less previlege who seem rather accepting of thier situation. the movie takes a turning point when ki-woo gets a reference to become a tutor for the parks family children, what seems like an casual recommendation set the beginning to an unhinged situation for parks family.

After ki-woo starts the after class tutoring, his family then begins to craft an idea for his sister Ki-jung to also become employed by the same family, it eventually leads up to scenario where we have the entire family working for the same family while perpetuating a absence of rational ties to each other, they succeeded in penetrating the family home to where they develop contempt and the entirety of it all becomes a game of cat and mouse in the home if another.

Review

Like i have said the name was rather intriguing, because i like to see setting where sociological concepts play out, it was hilarious to watch at the same time off-putting, in my opinion the second half of the plot seemed unreal to believe, but i think the message from it was the bone of contention here, it further proved the resolve i have about some life philosophy teaching the seriousness of hierarchical structure, jealousy, delusion, complacency and even more. The characters here were such great actors in their individual roles that it made the acts seemed too real to be true, it reminded me of home alone 5 where a similar story was portrayed, and it made it feel familiar to that regard. The chemistry between the kims family was rather commendable too. I think that the blaring moral was conveyed to a great extent and it was a satisfying watch after all.

[TV] The Mentalist Season 2

I hate you, just like Patrick Jane hates tea :)

Those who know will understand the context.

So, I am done with the second season. And, I am not going to say the same things over and over again. But maybe one more time: I am loving it. On daily basis, one or two episodes have become a usual. A day seems not enough without it.

In my previous review, I did mention that Season 2 has better cases than Season 1; and after completing the second one, I can vouch for it again. I just have one problem with episode "18-5-4," like they really could have made it a big one. Anyways, it turned out to be usual.

The Plot; The Newness.

Season 2 manages the balance between standalone murder mysteries with the bigger story surrounding Red John. Like you can watch an episode, enjoy the investigation, see Patrick do his magic and move on with your day. But whenever it comes to "Red John," it brings the best out of the show. And, in the last episode, the way Jane behaved show that Red John really hits him the worst.

There is no second debate about it. Patrick is all non-chalant: he jokes around, even at a funeral; manipulate suspects; and never fails to annoy everyone in the room. But hey, there is always something darker underneath that charming smile. When it comes to Red John, Patrick does not even care about any other case. So his sole purpose is to find him and be inhumane to him.

The new boss is Madeleine Hightower, played by Aunjanue Ellis.

She is different from the previous one, way more observant and good at control. She knows that Jane "solves cases," and he is "golden" to CBI. So, she tells Lisbon to have him under control; otherwise, she will find some able to control him. But, she does not know that Jane will never work for CBI without Lisbon in the team.

Van Pelt and Rigsby.

I was so happy that they finally hooked up, and just when Rigsby was ready to work somewhere else. Van Pelt gave up on relationship. And I do not know why, I liked her decision. THey may have left their relationship, but show is nothing without this team remaining the same. Because, Rigsby is Rigsby; he, sometimes, act dumb. So his character really brings humorous vibes. WHenever, he talks with Cho, he really regrets it. Because, he cannot handle "Cho business."

"You are out of order." - Jane immitating Al Pacino.

Man that whole episode was top-nothc. Jane not taking the court-room serious, and hitting every nerve of judge was fun. Judge just kept on adding fine tickets to his name, and he keeps on saying "double it." In the end, he had USD $18K fine. But my man can earn this much money pretty easily, so not a big deal for him.

Patrick Jane and Kristina Frye.

They went on a date. Kristina Frye is psychic; Jane does not believe in psychic. So a match perfect for each other. But, Jane is still wearing his ring. It simply means he cannot just love anyone else easily. His wife is always there to remind him his love for her.

Now Kristina made a big mistake - calling out Red John. And, Patrick did the same thing on the TV. Next ahead, his wife and daughter was killed. So he knows what will happen to her.

"If there is anything, I can't tolerate. It is the cheap imitation of my work." - Red John

Patrick has finally met Red John, of course, he was wearing a mask. And guess what? It was Red John who saved Patrick from the kidnappers and killers. In the final episode, two folks tried with Red John stuff: killing, emoji face etc. And, he killed that for being a cheap copy of him.

If it was not for the plot, Patrick will not be surviving a single such scene.

Tomorrow, I start with Season 3. Or maybe, something else for the time being. But, I am sure about one thing. I am going to watch it, until Red John and Patrick meet for the finale.

[TV] The Heirs (2013): Review

I have watched "The Heirs** before, but decided to rewatch it last night. The story followed Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho), the son of a wealthy business family. From the outside, his life looked perfect. He had money, attended an elite school, and belonged to a family with great influence. However, his life was far from peaceful. His family had expectations for him, and his relationship with his older brother was complicated. Despite having almost everything money could provide, Kim Tan still struggled with loneliness and the desire to make his own decisions.

Things became more interesting when he met Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye), a young woman from a humble background who had her own problems to deal with. Unlike Kim Tan, Eun-sang did not have the privilege of living comfortably without worrying about money. Her circumstances brought her into a world where she had to deal with people who believed that their wealth made them better than others.

As their relationship developed, their differences became a major challenge. Kim Tan's feelings for Eun-sang were not enough to make everyone accept their relationship. Family expectations, social class, and the opinions of other people constantly stood in their way. Watching them struggle to be together made me realise how difficult love could become when people outside the relationship believed they had the right to decide who someone should love.

One thing I particularly liked about this movie was how it showed that wealth did not automatically bring happiness. The rich students attended prestigious schools and enjoyed privileges that many people could only dream of, yet some of them were dealing with family problems, emotional pain, and pressure to meet expectations. Their lives looked beautiful on the outside, but there was a lot happening beneath the surface.

Kim Tan's character was interesting because he was caught between his family's wishes and his own desires. He wanted to be accepted and loved without having every part of his life controlled by his family's wealth and influence. Cha Eun-sang, on the other hand, had to deal with the reality of being judged because of her background. Her struggles made the differences between their worlds even more obvious.

I also found Choi Young-do (Kim Woo-bin) to be an important part of the story. He was often arrogant, aggressive, and difficult to understand, especially in the way he treated other students. However, as the story progressed, there were moments that revealed his loneliness and the problems he faced at home. His complicated relationship with Kim Tan and his feelings for Eun-sang added another layer to the drama. Although his behaviour was sometimes frustrating, his character was difficult to ignore.

Of course, the series was not perfect. Some misunderstandings dragged on for too long, and there were moments when I wished the characters would communicate more honestly instead of allowing their problems to grow. Eun-sang also went through situations that made me feel sorry for her, especially when people treated her as though she was not good enough simply because she came from a poor family.

Still, the drama managed to keep its romantic and emotional appeal. The chemistry between the main characters, the friendships, the rivalries, and the soundtrack all helped make the story memorable. It also reminded me that young people can carry burdens that are not always obvious to the people around them.

For me, The movie was more than a story about a rich boy falling in love with a poor girl. It was also about people trying to find their own voices in families and environments where their choices were often made for them. It explored the difference between having everything money could buy and having the freedom to live the life one truly wanted.

For Me The Heirs was an enjoyable Korean romantic drama with emotional moments, memorable characters, and enough family conflict to keep viewers interested. Despite its predictable moments, it remains a good choice for anyone who enjoys stories about love, social differences, friendship, and complicated family relationships.

The shows first season premiered in 2021 starring leads Brianne Howey who plays Georgia, Antonia Gentry who playa Ginny and Felix Mallard plays Marcus Baker, other characters
are also present in a majorly significant way because their roles develop a prominent part of the main characters sub-story, The plot line follows the life of Georgia-miller and her teenage daughter whoms relationship dynamics are rather interesting to perceive, we see a single mother go to lengths to create an new life for her family with a rationale to put her troubled old life behind her, her daughter is seen trying to navigate life in the new town Anchored by the decisions her mother makes. The story develops in a way that is retroactive to the past and you start to see that there is so much complexity and complications in every nuance , from ginny search for identity and the rather strained realationship between mother and daughter the story creates the setting of an entertaining sometimes and uncomfortable narrative to explore

Review

Several things stands out to me in this series, first of all i would like to highlight the way the plot i curated, the lightness and equally strained atmosphere is consequential to the captivation that intruigs me with the drama, i like how every scene and act was prevalent to the core plot nothing was amiss and there really was no time when thought anything was unnecessary, the pace was done in a way that every substory was able to be understood even if they were far apart in the context and although some substory leaned heavily into dramatic situations but they contributed to the shows ability to keep the audience emotionally invested

Another thing that really stood out to me is the nature in which the series explores , race, class and expectations of the matriarchy in contemporary times, grorgia character is an example of a character with range, tye complexity of personality is one that os really interesting to observe, we see her from the perspective of a mother first who would do anything for her children, in this we explore her in different sides to her a white lady who knows how to use her privilege in the world she has been born into to a woman whose values are a bit eccentric to getting her way, we see her as an individual trying to heal past trauma and we see her as a loving free-spirited individual whose image is curated to draw people in to the observing eye, and all of this i love about her,

The nuances we see forces us to reflect on value and more, we see the past of a mother and her little ones, we see thier present we observe theri struggles as a family and we m begin ti understand how past experience influence the decision we make, we withess the complications of love the weight of sacrifice and it teaches is that in reality sometimes things we do fore protection sakes might be the very thing that hunts us , its is a plot that makes us question family, morality and lengths which we are willing yo go to secure personal interests.

my flight was an early hour own and it started with getting myself ready to get to the airport, my logistics had been planned and bre-booked because i cant afford to miss a flight like i did the last time and the feeling i get when i am enroute to the airport is usually anticipation an nervousness at the same time.

Meals where served rather quickly, and it was delicious, i don't usually have salmon fish a lot as it isnt necesarilly my favorite, but the dish was delicious, it was mashed potatoes and veggies , served with some sort of salmon soup several other snacks aslo accompanied the meals, from mouse chocolate to crispy chip orange juice and more.during my accessing of the meal option i had chosen jollof rice and some plantain but was later informed that was no longer available but this meals was nevertheless a great option and i enjoyed the entertainment afterwards. i took most of my time resting as much as possible for the day ahead which was going to be tasking being in a new city.
