Hello, dear friends. I hope you’re all well and getting ready for this weekend, which is just about to begin. As always, I’m keen to share moments from my day-to-day life with you. This time, I’m visiting Ilaui, which is located in La Vela shopping centre. As you’ll see, it’s a shop full of lovely accessories for young and old alike, as it stocks soft toys, toys, costume jewellery, homewares – in short, loads of lovely little things perfect for gifts, including that favourite toy from your childhood.

En esta oportunidad, la visita a tiendas Ilaui, que está ubicada en el centro comercial La Vela, como verán, es una tienda de muchos accesorios hermosos para grandes y pequeños, ya que tiene de esos peluches, juguetes, accesorios de bisutería, artículos para el hogar, en fin, muchísimas cositas hermosas para detalles de regalo y con ese muñeco preferido de tu infancia.

I, for one, really love My Melody; even now you can find loads of lovely little things featuring this cartoon character, and it was also very fashionable a long time ago. Anyway, I absolutely love this shop because of the sheer number of unique items it has; everything is so lovely and charming, and, as I mentioned earlier, it suits all ages and tastes – everything is so delicate and beautiful. The service is really friendly, as everyone is very attentive and kind. For me, coming to La Vela and not popping into this shop would be a real shame, because it’s a shop that really catches your eye thanks to its huge variety of items. Por lo menos a mí me gusta mucho My Melody, que hasta ahora se ven muchas cositas hermosas de esta caricatura y que hace muchos tiempos atrás también era muy de moda. En fin, esta tienda me encanta por la cantidad de curiosidades que tiene; todo es muy lindo, muy coqueto, que, como les dije anteriormente, se adapta a todo tipo de edades y gustos, todo muy delicado y muy bonito. Tiene una atención bastante agradable, ya que todos son muy atentos y muy amables. Para mí, venir a la vela y no pasar por esta tienda sería un gran desperdicio porque es una tienda que llama mucho la atención por su gran variedad de artículos. Hello, friends, as always, I’m popping in here to share some lovely moments of adventure with you, spent in the company of my sister. For the past few days, I’ve been going out with my sister all over the place, but before we set off – which we always do in the morning – we don’t have breakfast at home so that we can have it out and about. But this time we stopped off at a bakery, as it was new and we hadn’t been able to visit it before because we were always off somewhere else. This place is where the well-known Hotel Italia used to be; these days it’s a bakery, just like the ones in Kalimán.

Hola, amigos, como siempre pasando por aquí para compartir con ustedes lindos momentos de aventura en compañía de mi hermana. Desde hace días me lo paso saliendo con mi hermana para todas partes, pero antes de salir, que siempre lo hacemos en la mañana, no nos desayunamos en la casa para poder desayunar en la calle. Pero esta vez nos quedamos en una panadería, ya que, como era nueva, no la habíamos podido visitar porque siempre nos íbamos para otra parte. Este lugar queda donde era antiguamente el muy conocido hotel Italia; hoy en día ya es una panadería de las mismas de Kalimán.

So we sat down there to order a delicious breakfast and, taking advantage of the fact that they were running a promotion – or rather, promoting Santo Domingo coffee, which comes in Nescafé-style flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, biscuit and traditional – we decided to try one chocolate and one biscuit flavour to discover some new tastes, accompanied by some delicious chicken pastries which, to tell the truth, were quite generously filled and absolutely delicious. And, as is my habit of visiting new places so I can recommend them, I thought this place was brilliant – the service was excellent and quick, and we really did enjoy our simple breakfast before heading off to do some more shopping. Pues nos sentamos allí a pedir un rico desayuno y aprovechando que estaban en promoción, O mejor dicho, promocionando el café Santo Domingo tipo Nescafé de vainilla, chocolate, galleta y tradicional, por lo cual nos decidimos por uno de chocolate y uno de galleta para conocer nuevos sabores, acompañado de unos ricos pastelitos de pollo que, para decir verdad, estaban bastante rellenos y muy ricos. Y para no perder la costumbre de visitar lugares nuevos para poder recomendarlos, dicho lugar me pareció estupendo, muy buena atención, rápida y de verdad que disfrutamos mucho de nuestro sencillo desayuno para continuar nuestro camino de tiendas. Hello, dear friends, I’m popping in to show you how my day’s shopping went today at the Mister Price shop, which is on 4 de Mayo Avenue. Well, as you can see, I went out with my sister early on; we decided to pop into this shop because she really likes it – you can always find new and nice things there, so we bought a few bits and pieces. I’m a bit more fussy, but I do find some nice bits and pieces there too – though I didn’t find much today. So we set about going through everything, item by item, drawer by drawer, until we found some things we liked, including some clothes for my goddaughters and a blouse for my niece, as well as a few educational games to help us unwind.

Hola, queridos amigos, paso por aquí para mostrarles cómo fue mi día hoy de compras en la tienda Mister Price, que está ubicada en la avenida 4 de Mayo. Pues, como verán, salí con mi hermana temprano; decidimos pasar por esta tienda porque a ella le atrae mucho, siempre se consiguen cosas nuevas y buenas, así que se compraron. Yo soy un poquito más exigente, pero también consigo cositas buenas allí, pero hoy no conseguí muchas cosas. Así que nos dimos la tarea de revisar todo lo que había, pieza con pieza, cajones por cajones, hasta conseguir cosas de interés, entre eso una ropa para mis ahijadas y una blusa para mi sobrina, así como también unos jueguitos didácticos para desestresarse.

As on other occasions, there wasn’t much variety, but if you have a proper look round, you always manage to find something. It’s a shop with lots of bargains; sometimes there are things that really aren’t worth it, whilst others are actually quite decent. Anyway, it’s a shop we visit a lot because, all things considered, we always manage to find some good bits, so this time was no exception and we’re heading home happy with today’s purchases. Hello everyone, as always, I’m popping in here to share my experiences with you. This time, it’s about a lovely breakfast I shared with my sister, which we had at the bakery in the Río supermarket, located in Sambil. As we’d been out and about since early on, we’d left without having lunch – I mean, without having breakfast – and before setting off on our tour, we decided to have a light bite, as we fancied a little breakfast here at this bakery because we really like what they have on offer; plus, it was a peaceful setting for our breakfast. When we ordered, my sister chose her chicken puff pastries with a juice, and I went for a slice of pizza with a nice cold Malta. We spent a while having breakfast and chatting.

Hola a todos, como siempre paso por aquí para compartir con ustedes mis vivencias. En esta oportunidad, un rico desayuno que compartir con mi hermana, el cual tomamos en la panadería del supermercado Río, que está ubicado en el Sambil. Como habíamos agarrado calle desde temprano, habíamos salido sin almorzar, digo, sin desayunar, y antes de empezar nuestro recorrido, decidimos comer algo ligero, ya que queríamos un desayunito aquí en esta panadería porque nos gusta mucho lo que nos ofrece; además, era un ambiente tranquilo para nuestro desayuno decimos pedir mi hermana pidió sus pastelitos de hojaldre de pollo acompañados de un jugo y yo pedí mi ración de pizza con una Malta bien fría. Pasamos un rato desayunando, conversando.

The place was quite deserted and very quiet, as it was still early – barely half past ten. My sister’s chicken pastry was really crispy, her chicken stew was delicious, and my pizza was actually quite a generous portion and very tasty. We enjoyed our breakfast before continuing our tour of the shops, as we don’t want to break the habit of always going out shopping and spending some time relaxing. We were going to do some more shopping at the supermarket, but decided to leave that until later, when it was time to head home, so as not to have to carry bags around, but we certainly enjoyed our breakfast. Everything was delicious. It’s worth noting that here at this bakery they offer really fresh produce. Thank you all for reading.

El lugar estaba bastante solo y muy tranquilo, ya que era aún temprano apenas eran las diez y media. Un pastelito de pollo de mi hermana estaba muy crujiente, muy rico su guisado de pollo, y mi pizza estaba de verdad una ración bastante grande y muy sabrosa. Disfrutamos de nuestro desayuno para seguir nuestro recorrido por las tiendas, ya que no queremos perder la costumbre de salir siempre de compras y pasar un rato distrayéndonos, y vamos a hacer otras compras en el supermercado, pero decidimos hacerlas más tarde, ya cuando fuera hora de retornar a casa para no ir cargando bolsas, pero disfrutamos nuestro desayuno. Todo estuvo muy rico. Cabe destacar que aquí en esta panadería ofrecen cosas muy frescas. Gracias a todos por leer.

TWO MOJITOS AND A PHOTO [ENG-ESP].

One afternoon enjoying delicious mojitos at the Los Robles fair, a day spent with my sister so we wouldn’t get bored at home – as it was a Sunday – we decided to go to the Feria del Chivo where, as I told you before, there were loads of special offers and where the mojito stand was impossible to miss. Mojitos are cocktails that come in different flavours, and they were on offer: three for 5$ or, if you preferred, a single one for just $1.

Una tarde de ricos mojitos en la feria de los Robles, un día en compañía de mi hermana para no aburrirnos en casa, ya que era domingo, decidimos ir a la feria del chivo donde, como les conté anteriormente, había muchas promociones y donde no podía pasar desapercibida la estación de mojitos, que son como unos cócteles que vienen de diferentes sabores y estaban de promoción tres mojitos por $5 o también, si lo preferías individual, uno solo te valía $1.

So we decided to order the individual drinks; my sister chose the tropical fruit one and I went for the passion fruit one. The staff were very quick and very friendly; whilst we were paying via mobile, he was already preparing our drinks, as we’d also bought them with the aim of recreating a photo we’d taken eight years ago in that very same spot, for the same reason: the Feria del Chivo.

Total que decidimos pedir los individuales; mi hermana pidió de frutas tropicales y yo lo pedí de parchita. Las personas que nos atendieron fueron muy rápidas y muy amables; mientras hacíamos el pago móvil, él nos iba preparando las bebidas, ya que las compramos también con el propósito de recrear una foto que no habíamos tomado hace 8 años en ese mismo lugar con ese mismo motivo, la Feria del Chivo.

Once we’d been served our drinks, we decided to have a little wander and find the exact spot where we weren’t going to take the photo; apart from that, we were also looking for someone whose hands were free so they could take the photo for us, as everyone else was holding plates or their drinks. So we made the most of this fabulous moment to recreate a photo with our mojitos in hand, which were absolutely delicious. My sister, as she doesn’t drink alcohol, barely tasted hers. So I ended up drinking her mojito as well, which was absolutely delicious. Bye for now, I’ll see you in my next post.

Una vez que nos dieron las bebidas, decidimos pasear un ratico y buscar el lugar exacto donde no íbamos a tomar la foto, aparte de eso, buscando también una persona que tuviese las manos desocupadas para que no la tomara, ya que todo el mundo tenía platos en las manos o su respectiva bebida. Así que fue que aprovechamos este fabuloso momento para recrear una foto con nuestros mojitos en la mano, que estaban muy ricos. Mi hermana, como no toma alcohol, apenas lo probó. AN AFTERNOON AT THE GOAT FAIR [ENG-ESP]

Hello, my dear friends, I’m sharing this fabulous day with you today, as the goat fair was held in Los Robles today, so my sister and I made the most of the day to have it all to ourselves. I say ‘we’ because we came over at 12 noon to have a lovely time here at the fair, where a competition had been organised to award a prize for the best version of this dish.

Hola, mis queridos amigos, hoy compartiendo con ustedes este fabuloso día, ya que hoy se celebró en Los Robles la feria del chivo, así que mi hermana y yo aprovechamos este día para tomárnoslo para nosotras. Digo nosotras porque nos vinimos desde las 12 del mediodía a pasar un rato agradable aquí en esta feria, en la cual se había programado un concurso para premiar a la mejor preparación de este platillo.

I thought it was really good; there were various goat dishes on offer that looked delicious, but I wasn’t lucky enough to try them, as the queues were far too long to order whatever I fancied at whichever stall I chose, and I didn’t want to queue; the queue was so long because there were loads of people wanting to eat goat, so I ended up sharing a cachapa with cheese with my sister, along with a delicious dessert – a soursop cake – and some lovely sugarcane juice with pineapple. Then, once we’d finished our meal and everything else, we treated ourselves to some lovely mojitos; to be honest, they were absolutely brilliant, so I was really surprised by the number of people who’d turned up at this fair.

Para mí me pareció que estuvo muy buena; había distintas preparaciones de chivo que se veían muy buenas, pero que no tuve la suerte de poderlo probar, ya que las colas eran muy largas para poder pedir el plato según la estación donde decidiera comprarlo, pero no quería hacer cola; estaba muy larga porque había mucha gente queriendo comer chivo, así que me tocó comerme una cachapa con queso junto con mi hermana y un delicioso postre como lo era una torta de guanábana, unos ricos jugos de papelón con piña y después, al finalizar la comida y todo lo demás, hicimos deleitarnos el paladar con unos ricos mojitos; la verdad estaban demasiado buenos, así que me quedé muy sorprendida por la cantidad de gente que había acudido en esta feria.

We also took the opportunity to snap a quick photo to recreate a moment just like one we experienced several years ago, and I thought it looked really good too; there were lots of stalls promoting other typical regional products. I had a brilliant day, although by the time we were ready to leave they still hadn’t announced the winner of the Chivo Fair competition. I’m so happy to be here with you all today to share this lovely adventure I had with my sister – how shall I put it? What woman isn’t happy when she’s out shopping? I, for one, absolutely love it, so on this particular day, without a second thought – so as not to stay at home bored – we headed to the Sambil shopping centre and popped into the DAMASCO shops, as it was the weekend and the perfect day to go out, and, taking advantage of the fact that this shop had some great offers, as women do, we fancied buying an air fryer and a hair straightener.

There’s nothing more exciting than popping into the shops to treat yourself; at the moment there are loads of special offers and promotions, and, taking advantage of these deals, my sister and I decided to buy these items – it’s such a pleasure to go shopping; it’s something that fills your heart and soul with satisfaction, knowing that you can afford these kinds of purchases despite certain circumstances, though that’s beside the point. I was really happy with my purchase; this shop had so much on offer – the range was extensive and there were some truly lovely items. It’s a real pleasure to visit this shop and see so many high-quality items for the home. Hello, my dear friends, here I am again, sharing a day of happiness, excitement and family pride. This morning, the graduation ceremony was held for the graduates of UVB University, known as the Bolivarian University of Venezuela, where my niece was to receive her degree as a general nurse today.

Hola, mis queridos amigos, nuevamente por acá compartiendo un día de felicidad, emoción y orgullo en la familia. Hoy en la mañana se celebró la entrega de títulos a los graduandos de la Universidad UVB, conocida como la Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela, donde mi sobrina recibiría hoy su título como enfermera integral.

It was a morning full of emotions, as we had to get up very early to get ready so we could arrive at the event on time; it was scheduled to start at 8 o’clock in the morning, but, as always, everything started late and the ceremony began at 9.30. It was a fairly brief but very lovely and moving event, which finished at around 11.30.

Fue una mañana cargada de emociones, ya que fue a levantarnos bien temprano para prepararnos para poder llegar a tiempo al evento, ya que dicho evento estaba pautado para empezar a las 8 de la mañana, pero, como siempre, empiezan todo, empieza retardado y empezó a las 9:30 un acto bastante rápido, pero muy bonito y emotivo, lo cual concluyó como a las 11:30.

It was all full of excitement and happiness, and we took the opportunity to take some photos to remember the occasion. My niece was feeling very happy and proud to have achieved such a well-deserved qualification after all the ups and downs she’d been through, but her perseverance and determination enabled her to complete her degree with great success. At my niece’s graduation ceremony, everything was absolutely lovely, and I felt so proud of her for taking this huge step in her life. En el acto de graduación de mi sobrina todo estuvo muy bonito y yo me sentía muy orgullosa por ese gran paso que acaba de culminar en su vida. Hello everyone, I’m back here again to share with you this little stroll – or rather, a short but enjoyable walk – through the shopping centre on Bolívar Avenue here on Margarita Island. Given that a lot has been going on, I came here with the aim of finding a laptop for my daughter. After searching and checking online, I managed to find a shop located in this shopping centre where the prices of the computers were very affordable, as I needed one urgently.

Hola a todos nuevamente por aquí para compartir con ustedes este pequeño paseo o, mejor dicho, corto recorrido pero sabroso por el centro comercial a pie ubicado en la avenida Bolívar de aquí de la isla de Margarita. En vista de que han acontecido muchas cosas, me llegué a este lugar con la finalidad de buscar un portátil para mi hija, buscando y revisando los medios por internet, logré conseguir una tienda que está ubicada en este centro comercial y donde los precios de las computadoras eran muy accesibles, ya que la necesitaba con carácter de urgencia.

Whilst I was at this shop – which I’ll tell you about in another post – I took the opportunity to have a quick look round this place which, to be honest, I hadn’t visited for quite some time, as it’s not somewhere I go very often because it’s gone a bit downhill over the years due to a lack of shops. Unicasa used to be there; today there’s another supermarket called Iclo or something like that – I’m not exactly sure what it’s called – but the new supermarkets are certainly up and running. Anyway, it was just a quick stroll; despite everything, it’s very well maintained, very clean, very pretty and, well, mate, I’ll tell you about the shop where I bought my laptop another time. Aprovechando esta ida a esta tienda, que de eso le hablaré en otro post, hice este pequeño recorrido visitando este lugar que, para serle sincera, tenía bastante tiempo sin visitar, ya que es un sitio que no es muy concurrido por mí porque con el tiempo ha decaído un poco por su falta de comercios. Ahí funcionaba antes Unicasa; hoy tiene otro supermercado llamado Iclo o algo así, no sé exactamente cómo, pero sí funcionan los supermercados nuevos. En fin, fue un corto recorrido; a pesar de todo, está muy conservado, muy limpio, muy bonito y, bueno, amigo, será en otra oportunidad que le hable de la tienda donde compré la portátil. Hello everyone, my dear friends in this lovely community. I’m popping in today to share with you my visit to the Wuaikiki shop in La Vela shopping centre, particularly the children’s department, as I’m always on the lookout for things for my grandchildren. Now, when I return to Colombia, I’ll be taking them a few little gifts – especially some of the clothes available here, which are really good quality. I particularly like the children’s clothes. I think this shop is very lovely and very modern, and above all, the fabrics for the children are excellent, as they’re 100 per cent cotton, and there’s a huge variety of children’s items: tights, shoes, slippers, toys – in short, a very comprehensive range, from the smallest sizes right up to teenage sizes.

Hola a todos, mis queridos amigos de esta hermosa y linda comunidad. Hoy paso por acá para compartir con ustedes mi visita a la tienda Wuaikiki del centro comercial La Vela, especialmente el departamento de niños, ya que siempre ando buscando cosas para mis nietos y ahora, cuando me regrese a Colombia, le llevaré unos detalles, sobre todo ropa de la que hay aquí, que es bastante buena. Me gusta más que todo la de la ropa de niño. Esta tienda me parece muy bonita y muy moderna, sobre todo de muy buena tela para los niños, ya que es 100% algodón y tiene una gran variedad en cosas para niños: medias, calzado, pantuflas, juguetes, en fin, una variedad bastante completa y desde la talla más pequeña hasta la talla del adolescente.

The truth is that the quality is very good, and what’s more, this shop currently has a great range on offer, as we’re in the off-season. They also stock clothes for women and men, but this time I’ve just focused on the children’s department, as that’s my weakness – wherever I go, if there’s a children’s section, I pop in to see what’s available for my grandchildren, as there are always lovely, good-quality and affordable items just waiting to be snapped up so I can start buying presents.
