After an incredible cruise of the Greek Isles on the Norwegian Getaway and a busy itinerary, we were excited to leave the ship and hop on a two and half ferry ride from Athens to the small lesser known island of Spetses.
From my investigations I had realised that Spetses is more of a local island with Greeks catching the ferry from the mainland to spend the weekend in this less frequented island. After the busyness of Santorini, this little piece of paradise was the absolute epitome of rest and recuperation.

Fortín Solano offers beautiful views from above of Puerto Cabello in all directions, where you can see its islands, the port, and the entire city.
In ancient times, societies would build fortifications on mountain tops to monitor their coastlines and prevent pirates or invading nations from plundering their resources. Venezuela is no exception to this part of history, and most cities with economic and natural potential have structures built for this purpose.

Santa Rosa de Agua is a place full of stilt houses, surrounded by abundant water, where most of the people of the Añú tribe live – a word which means ‘water’. There is a beautiful viewpoint here, from where, at certain times of the day, boats set out to take you on a tour along the entire length of the water, allowing you to enjoy this beautiful place, which boasts a rich history steeped in culture, tradition and much more.

Saludos mis queridos viajeros es para mi un gusto mostrarles un nuevo lugar.

Greetings, my dear travellers – it’s a pleasure for me to show you a new place.

Santa rosa de agua es un lugar lleno de muchos palafitos que se encuentra rodeado de abundantes agua en donde viven la mayoría de las personas Añú que esta palabra quiere decir agua, existe un hermoso mirador que puedes encontrar en este lugar en donde en algunos momentos del día salen lanchas, para darte el recorrido por todo lo largo del agua y así poder disfrutar de este hermoso lugar que posee una gran historia llena de mucha cultura, tradición entre otros.

Ahora bien desde este me he dado se aprecia el agua muy transparente, la vez anterior cuando vine esta área estaba llena de bastante basura pero para mi sorpresa era un área bastante limpia, bastante despejada que reflejaba los otros palafitos existentes en esta localidad de Santa Rosa de Agua y me parece que este es un grandioso espacio para tomar lindas fotografías con el lago de fondo así como también permite o facilita el traslado de las lanchas, ya que las mismas pueden estacionarse desde este punto estaba bastante feliz de poder observar cada una de las partes de este lugar hermoso.

Now, from here, you can see that the water is very clear. The last time I came, this area was full of rubbish, but to my surprise it was actually quite clean, and quite unobstructed, reflecting the other stilt houses in the village of Santa Rosa de Agua. I think this is a brilliant spot for taking lovely photographs with the lake in the background, and it also makes it easier to move the boats around, as they can be moored right here. I was really happy to be able to take in every aspect of this beautiful place.

Este es mirador se encuentra elaborado en madera basta bastante resistente construido por los artesanos locales, que algunos se dedican a construir estas edificaciones con todo el conocimiento empírico de la tradición que ellos pueden tener todo lo de Santa Rosa de Agua es totalmente elaborado a mano, por los mismos lugareños del lugar quienes llevan a cabo distintas funciones, ya sea la pesca ya sean las artesanías así como la edificación de los palafitos en algunos casos también tejen las hojas de las palmas para hacer maravillas.

This viewing platform is made of fairly sturdy rough-hewn timber and was built by local craftsmen, some of whom specialise in constructing these structures using all the traditional know-how they have acquired. Everything in Santa Rosa de Agua is entirely handmade, by the locals themselves, who carry out various activities, such as fishing, making handicrafts and building stilt houses; in some cases, they also weave palm leaves to create marvellous items.

La plaza Italia justamente una plaza nueva que no había tenido el gusto de visitar se encuentra justamente en la segunda entrada de la Vereda del Lago, particularmente nunca la había apreciado hasta que tuve la oportunidad de observarla en esta visita que tuve recientemente a este lindo parque sin duda alguna en el centro de esta plaza podemos encontrar Vespucio, qué fue el hombre impulsado de colocarle a nuestro país el nombre de Venezuela pues que se inspiró en la pequeña Venecia.

Plaza Italia – a brand-new square that I hadn’t yet had the pleasure of visiting – is situated right at the second entrance to the Vereda del Lago; to be honest, I’d never really noticed it until I had the chance to take a proper look during my recent visit to this lovely park. Without a doubt, in the centre of this square stands a statue of Vespucci, the man who championed the idea of naming our country Venezuela, as he was inspired by Little Venice.

Esto es un rato sentada en una en una banca mientras disfrutaba del viento que se asomaba entre los árboles, era una brisa realmente resfrescante mientras conversaba con mi novio pude analizar cada una de los detalles de esta plaza, fue elaborada por la colonia de los Italianos para crear este espacio, es por eso que podemos encontrar alrededor de la estatua múltiples banderas de países europeos haciendo referencia a esto.

I spent a while sitting on a bench, enjoying the wind blowing through the trees; it was a really refreshing breeze. Whilst chatting with my boyfriend, I was able to take in every detail of this square. It was created by the Italian community to provide this space, which is why there are so many flags of European countries around the statue, reflecting this.

El espacio solo tiene unas pocas bancas pero es bastante relajante al momento que observas cada detalle que posee la plaza, la escultura la base la jardinera las banderas entre otras más también posee una placa con un número de con el nombre de las personas que aportaron, así como también un recordatorio y también se encuentra el mapa mundi expresando cada uno de sus continentes con múltiples colores bastante lindos, en verdad mientras estaba en esta plaza veía todas las personas llegar estas iban a realizar actividad física ya que la Vereda del Lago es bastante extensa y es el lugar propicio para poder hacer deporte.

The square only has a few benches, but it’s quite relaxing once you start taking in every detail: the sculpture, the plinth, the flowerbed, the flags and more. It also features a plaque listing the names of the people who made donations, as well as a commemorative inscription, and there’s a world map depicting each continent in a range of lovely colours. In fact, whilst I was in this square, I watched all the people arriving; they were there to do some exercise, as the Vereda del Lago is quite long and is the ideal place for sporting activities.

Por último fue un buen recorrido estar en esta plaza a conocer su historia así como también llenarme de la cultura de otro país, a su vez poder estar en contacto con la naturaleza el lago que es un excelente espacio para la reflexión, para la desconexión total de todas las actividades que diariamente podamos tener sin duda alguna un lindo espacio, qué bueno que en nuestra ciudad se estén recuperando espacios y se les esté dando el mantenimiento a los mismos.

Warm greetings to all my dear travelling friends from all over the world; it’s a pleasure to say hello to you all this Monday, at the start of the week.

Hice un rarrido a la famosa plaza conocida por todos los maravinos como la "Plaza de los Cachos", pero su verdadero nombre es la "Plaza de la Resistencia Indígena" recientemente fue restaurada y recuperado cada uno de sus espacios con mejores jardineras, pinturas ilustraciones y se encuentra en un excelente estado, ubicada justamente en toda la avenida principal de Padilla de cierta manera posee un nombre jocoso pero fue creada para rendir un homenaje a las personas indígenas.

I paid a visit to the famous square known to all Maravinos as the ‘Plaza de los Cachos’, but its real name is the “Plaza de la Resistencia Indígena”. It has recently been restored, with each of its areas refurbished to include better planters, paintings and illustrations, and it is now in excellent condition. Situated right on Padilla’s main avenue, it has, in a way, a humorous name, but it was created to pay tribute to the indigenous people.

Ahora bien es importante conocer un poco de la historia de este lugar que fue fundado justamente en 1973, para rendir tributos al canto de la hispanidad Andrés Eloy blanco, debido al nombre tan controversial que poseía esta plaza como la "Plaza de los Cachos" recientemente en su reinauguración decidieron colocarle un nombre diferente como "Plaza de la Resistencia Indígena", pero ya sabemos que fue creada en la inspiración de los indígenas la hispanidad de nuestro país, ya que como sabemos nuestro país es un país lleno de muchas raíces etnicas y culturales.

It is important to know a little about the history of this place, which was founded in 1973 to pay tribute to Andrés Eloy Blanco’s ode to Hispanic heritage. Due to the highly controversial name this square had – ‘Plaza de los Cachos’ – it was recently decided, at its reopening, to give it a different name: ‘Plaza de la Resistencia Indígena’, but we already know that it was created to honour the indigenous peoples and Hispanic heritage of our country, as, as we know, our country is rich in diverse ethnic and cultural roots.

Lo que más me llamó la atención de esta plaza, es lo pintoresca que es pues la dejarón llena de muchos colores, pero lo más curioso es que se encuentra un gran árbol en su interior, que este posee una forma raramente humana es bastante impresionante cómo la naturaleza puede expresar su maravilla a pesar de que no tiene flor hojas este está en pie, la plaza posee distintos emblemas como casa saladilleras y unas letras de Maracaibo coloridas de colores muy llamativos.

Discovering the little Plaza de Luis Aparicio. | Descubriendo la pequeña Plaza de Luis Aparicio.

Warm greetings to all my dear friends in this wonderful Lifestyle community on this Monday, the first day of the week.

Estuve visitando la plaza de Luis Aparicio y fue para mi inevitable pensar que en el 2023 estabas con mis compañeros de esta plataforma, justamente en esta plaza tomando unas cervezas de lata, puesto que el de Cándido que se encuentra cerca de ahí no nos permitía hacerlo y es por eso acá aprovechamos, nos sentamos en esta plaza a degustar la fría cerveza ante el fuerte sol marabino, poder conversar entre amigos no se encontraba este monumento del Luis Aparicio simplemente era una plaza sin identidad.

I was visiting Luis Aparicio Square and I couldn’t help but think that back in 2023 you were with my colleagues from this platform, right here in this very square, having a few tinned beers, as Cándido’s, which is nearby, wouldn’t let us do so, and that’s why we made the most of it here: we sat in this square to enjoy the cold beer under the blazing Marabino sun, chatting amongst friends. This monument to Luis Aparicio wasn’t there back then; it was simply a square without any identity.

Bueno se preguntarán quién fue Luis Aparicio Montiel pues es el único gran desliga salón de la fama venezolano, el único exaltado puesto que no existe otro venezolano de la pelota de béisbol, que ha podido llegar a recibir este galardón esperemos que a medida que pase el tiempo otro jugador grandes ligas pueda superar esta hazaña, qué ha hecho el marabino Luis Aparicio se decidió hacer esta plaza justamente en la entrada de Santa Lucía, en toda la avenida principal en el Milagro puesto que Luis Aparicio era proveniente de esta entidad, fue criado durante su infancia y su adolescencia en este lugar es por eso que decidieron homenajearlo de manera especial con este monumento.

Well, you may be wondering who Luis Aparicio Montiel was. He is the only Venezuelan in the Baseball Hall of Fame – the only one to have been inducted, as no other Venezuelan baseball player has ever received this honour. Let’s hope that, as time goes by, another Major League player will be able to match this feat. As for Luis Aparicio, who hails from Maracaibo, it was decided to erect this monument right at the entrance to Santa Lucía, on the main avenue in El Milagro, as Luis Aparicio came from this neighbourhood; he spent his childhood and teenage years here, which is why they decided to pay him a special tribute with this monument.

Mi papá aprovecho estacionar su carro para que pudiéramos conocer la plaza y tomar fotografía él es muy aficionado de Luis Aparicio, en especial del béisbol por lo que no perdió la oportunidad de tomarse una foto con su gran escultura cabe destacar que esta fue hecha por el escultor venezolano Josué Benjamín, quien se ha consolidado como un gran escultor quién a su corta edad hace maravillas con sus manos, sin duda alguna un arte por completo qué bueno que sus manos pudieron plasmar a este gran ídolo del béisbol.

My dad took the opportunity to park his car so that we could explore the square and take some photos; he’s a huge fan of Luis Aparicio, and of baseball in particular, so he didn’t miss the chance to have his photo taken with the large statue of him. It’s worth noting that this was created by the Venezuelan sculptor Josué Benjamín, who has established himself as a great sculptor and, despite his young age, works wonders with his hands. It is, without a doubt, a true work of art – how wonderful that his hands were able to bring this great baseball idol to life.

No recuerdaba muy bien que la estación del Tranvía de Maracaibo se encontraba ubicada justamente en el Paseo del Lago, la única vez que pude montarme en el Tranvía era justamente cuando era una niña pequeña y son pequeños recuerdos lo que los que tengo, pero después de adulta no lo he podido hacer, normalmente cuando salgo siempre me encuentro el tranvía de la ciudad es por eso qué pase por la estación del Tranvía y fue totalmente inevitable no tomar fotografías y soñar en algún momento con volverme a montar vehículo cuya historia es bastante nuestra ciudad.

I didn’t really remember that the Maracaibo Tram station was located right on the Paseo del Lago; the only time I ever got to ride the tram was when I was a little girl, and the memories I have of it are very vague, but as an adult I haven’t been able to do so. Usually, when I’m out and about, I always come across the city tram, which is why I passed by the tram station; it was simply impossible not to take some photographs and dream of one day riding that vehicle again, a vehicle whose history is so much a part of our city.

Cuántas historias no hay plasmada en este lugar de muchas personas que han hecho rutas históricas, emblemáticas y patrimoniales de la ciudad, me llamó mucho la atención lo hermosa que es esta estación a pesar de que estaba totalmente cerrada porque era día domingo, el tranvía se encontraba guardado en la parte de atrás incluso llegué a pensar de que este vehículo no se encontraba ahí pero al percatarme por los laterales pude darme cuenta que estaba prácticamente guardado en la parte de atrás.

How many stories are there not captured in this place, of the many people who have followed the city’s historic, iconic and heritage routes? I was really struck by how beautiful this station is, even though it was completely closed as it was a Sunday; the tram was stowed away at the back – I even thought for a moment that it wasn’t there at all, but when I looked from the sides, I realised it was practically tucked away at the back.

Incluso había estado un pequeño carruaje que me imagino que es para que las personas que visitan la estación puedan tomarse fotografías, este vehículo anteriormente del siglo pasado era el principal medio de transporte de la ciudad y era implementado para el comercio, la vía de transporte que usaba era desde la plaza Baralt hasta el sector de Veritas, pero solamente en la actualidad es usado como únicamente un medio de transporte turístico y que ha sido modificado a lo largo de la historia.

There had even been a small carriage there, which I imagine is for people visiting the station to have their photographs taken. This vehicle, dating from the last century, used to be the city’s main means of transport and was used for commercial purposes; the route it followed ran from Baralt Square to the Veritas area, but nowadays it is used solely as a means of transport for tourists and has been modified over the years.

Durante este paseo la mañana estaba bastante fresca, por lo que recorrerlas afuera de la estación del tren, no fue un problema ya que el sol no había salido con gran fuerza, el tranvía se encuentra pintado de rojo con amarillo, si se asemeja a una pequeña locomotora con la diferencia de que no posee diversos carril sino uno solo, actualmente estos paseos en el tranvía suelen costar de 10, 15, 20 dólares dependiendo del lugar al que se visite y de todos los beneficios que pueda que pueda incluir el recorrido.

During this trip, the morning was quite cool, so walking around outside the train station wasn’t a problem as the sun hadn’t come out very strongly yet; The tram is painted red and yellow; it resembles a small locomotive, with the difference that it runs on a single track rather than several. Currently, these tram tours usually cost $10, $15 or $20, depending on the destination and any extras the tour may include.

Gratos saludos tengan todos mis queridos viajeros de todas partes del mundo, es un placer para mi mostrarle otro lugar de mi ciudad de Maracaibo que representa a un personaje bastante fantástico.

Warm greetings to all my dear travellers from all over the world; it is a pleasure for me to show you another spot in my city of Maracaibo that represents a rather fantastic character.

Justamente en la avenida principal del milagro en la entrada del famoso barrio el empedrado de Santa Lucía que es uno de los barrios más antiguos de las ciudad de Maracaibo con mayor historia, podemos encontrar un monumento que rinde un tributo especial y un homenaje a Luis Aparicio Montiel hijo quién es el único salón de la Fama Venezolano, quién se destacó como un gran atleta deportista del béisbol hasta ahora es el único galardonado con este premio Venezolano ya que ninguno a tenido este honor.

Right on the main avenue of El Milagro, at the entrance to the famous El Empedrado neighbourhood of Santa Lucía – one of the oldest and most historic neighbourhoods in the city of Maracaibo – we can find a monument that pays special tribute to Luis Aparicio Montiel Jr., the only Venezuelan inductee into the Hall of Fame, who distinguished himself as a great baseball player; to date, he remains the sole Venezuelan to have received this honour, as no one else has ever been bestowed with it.

Ahora bien esta plaza fue hecha en este lugar debido a que Luis Aparicio era originario de este barrio antiguo, a pesar de que Luis Aparicio se encuentre bastante mayor de edad aún vive los homenajes deben realizarse en vida y no después de muertos, esta plaza es un recordatorio de su vida.

Now, this square was built on this site because Luis Aparicio was originally from this old neighbourhood; although Luis Aparicio is now quite advanced in years, tributes should be paid whilst a person is still alive, not after they have passed away; this square serves as a reminder of his life.

En la pequeña plaza podemos ver justamente en una de sus esquinas principales la gran escultura de Luis Aparicio Montiel, el único salón de la Fama de las Grandes Ligas venezolano, esta es cultura fue fabricada por el famoso escultor Josué Benjamín, quien también ha realizado otras esculturas importantes que se encuentran desplegadas en la ciudad de Maracaibo, el barrio Santa Lucía lo vio crecer desarrollarse a este gran jugador Luis Aparicio, puedes ver que la escultura está bañada en bronce y se encuentra elevada sobre un pedestal.

In the small square, right on one of its main corners, we can see the large sculpture of Luis Aparicio Montiel, the only Venezuelan member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame; This cultural landmark was created by the famous sculptor Josué Benjamín, who has also produced other important sculptures on display throughout the city of Maracaibo. The Santa Lucía neighbourhood saw this great player, Luis Aparicio, grow up and develop; you can see that the sculpture is cast in bronze and stands on a pedestal.

Fuí hacer un paseo bastante divertido con mi pequeña sobrinas con Alys y Abby particularmente son unas niñas que no salen mucho de la casa, es por eso que hay que aprovechar cuando tenemos la oportunidad de salir y hacer algo diferente porque normalmente están rodeadas de puras personas adultas, esto puede acrecentar un poco el aburrimiento y es importante realizar con ella actividades diferentes en las cuales puedan recrearse, disfrutar a su vez poder compartir con otros niños ya que escasamente los niños que pueden ver son los de la escuela, no estás de más que podamos salir en familia y poder distraernos.

I went on a rather fun outing with my little nieces, Alys and Abby in particular – they’re girls who don’t get out of the house much, which is why we have to make the most of it when we get the chance to go out and do something different, as they’re usually surrounded by nothing but adults, which can make things a bit boring. It’s important to do different activities with them where they can have fun, enjoy themselves and spend time with other children, as the only children they usually see are those at school. It’s always good for us to get out as a family and have a bit of fun.

Fuimos a la Vereda del Lago y decidimos tomar aire fresco primeramente con las niñas, luego las llevamos a uno de los parques más grandes asegurarándonos que tuviera un excelente mantenimiento que no tuvieran mal estado y las niñas aprovecharon de distraerse recrearse jugar con otros niños diferentes, poder hacer algo totalmente fuera de la rutina a la que están acostumbrados realmente estaban las 2 súper felices y contenta pero mayormente la más feliz era Abby la menor que tiene 5 anitos.

We went to Vereda del Lago and decided to get some fresh air with the girls first, then we took them to one of the largest parks, making sure it was very well maintained and in good condition, and the girls made the most of the chance to have fun, play with other children and do something completely different from their usual routine. They were both absolutely delighted, but the happiest of all was Abby, our youngest, who is five years old.

Mi sobrina mayor Alys también estaba sumamente contenta ella tiene la facilidad de hacer amigos rápidamente estaba jugando con un niño y con una niña, que se encontraban en el parque aprovechaba de lanzarse en el tobogán, así como también en el subi baja, hay que aprovechar también en los columpios no paraban de escuchar sus gritos de felicidad correteando por todo el parque, sin duda alguna es muy gratificante verlas tan feliz jugando

My eldest niece, Alys, was also absolutely delighted; she has a knack for making friends quickly. She was playing with a boy and a girl who were in the park, having a go on the slide as well as the seesaw. You’ve got to make the most of the swings too. We couldn’t stop hearing her shouts of joy as she ran around the whole park; it’s certainly very rewarding to see them so happy playing.

Todas las mañanas transcurrió de un excelente manera las niñas soportaron muy bien jugaron bastante tranquilas, estaban muy felices luego al momento de irnos decidimos comprar unos helados, para que las niñas pudieran refrescarse del calor que estaba haciendo como también poder degustar algo rico, normalmente cuando salimos no podemos irnos en blanco siempre hay que comprarle algo a las niñas para comer y así ellas puedan sentirse aún más felices.

A warm greeting to all my dear friends in this Lifestyle community; it is a pleasure for me to greet you on this Tuesday.

Recorriendo el pueblo de Santa Rosa de Agua que se encuentra justamente encima de las aguas del Lago de Maracaibo me encontre con un lugar lleno de artesanias fabricados por los indígenas Añú, el nombre de estos indiginas se significa "agua" ya que ellos habitan en casas de madera encima del lago que son fabricadas en base de madera es impresionante tener en cuenta que esto para ellos es un medio económico, también tradicional, culturas y patrimonial quede totalmente enamorada con toda la belleza que ellos pueden llegar hacer.

Whilst exploring the village of Santa Rosa de Agua, which lies right on the shores of Lake Maracaibo, I came across a place full of handicrafts made by the Añú indigenous people. The name of this indigenous group means ‘water’, as they live in wooden houses built on stilts over the lake. It is impressive to realise that for them this is a means of earning a living, as well as a traditional, cultural and heritage-based way of life. I fell completely in love with all the beautiful things they are capable of creating.

Al llegar cordialmente me atendió una señora Añú con una gran disposición, sin duda alguna me hablo de tantas cosas y me profundizó su cultura que es maravillosa enalteciando por completo la misma, me encanto la gran pintura de la Virgen de Chiquinquirá que se encuentra en la pared bastante linda que es la patrona de todos los Zulianos, no podía dejar de estar presente la Santa Madre de Jesús quien siempre nos llena de su gran amor, un arte totalmente bellísimo el que estaba plasmado por completo en la pared.

On my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by a lady named Añú, who was extremely helpful. She certainly told me so much and gave me a deeper insight into her culture, which is wonderful, and she spoke of it with great pride. I was enchanted by the magnificent painting of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá on the wall – she is the patron saint of all the people of Zulia. Of course, the Holy Mother of Jesus, who always fills us with her great love, could not be absent; it was a truly beautiful work of art, perfectly captured on the wall.

Me hablo de todas las artesanias que ahí tenian creadas por ella mismo, estás son fabricadas con palma tejida entrelazada entre sí, entre ellas habían sombreros, canastas, avanicos de mano para poder hecharse viento ya que las temperaturas de Maracaibo son bastantes elevadas, entre otras cosas tejidas bastante lindas e impresionantes ya que estas personas tienen grandes habilidades para los tejidos.

She told me about all the handicrafts she had made herself; these are crafted from interwoven palm fronds. Among them were hats, baskets and hand fans for cooling off, as the temperatures in Maracaibo are quite high, as well as other beautifully woven items that were truly impressive, given these people’s great skill in weaving.

Ahora bien la señora también me hablo del techo que fue fabricados por sus amigos Añú, ellos se encargarón con palma de tejerlo me conto que hay artesanos que se dedican a dos tipos de pesca la artesanal que esta es con anzuelo, y la tradicional, normalmente los pescadores no se dedican a edificar las viviendas en madera que flotan en las aguas del Lago de Maracaibo, los artesanos se dedican a fabricar todos las artesanias e incluso se dedican algunos de ellos mismos a la distintas edificaciones de las vivienas y preprar las bases firmes de madera para armar estructura, edificando así las viviendas.

An Italian square in Maracaibo steeped in history. | Una plaza italiana en Maracaibo llena de historia.🇮🇹

Gratos saludos tengan todos mis queridos amigos viajeros del mundo hoy les quiero mostrar la linda plaza Italia del Paseo del Lago.

Warm greetings to all my dear fellow travellers around the world – today I’d like to show you the lovely Plaza Italia on the Paseo del Lago.

Justamente en la segundo entrada del Parque la Verea del Lago podemos encontrar del lado izquierdo la plaza Italia, que es un tributo especial a las personas de este país que residen en nuestra ciudad de Maracaibo, qué normalmente son muchas debido a que nuestro país recibió a la mayoría de los inmigrantes europeos, que hasta la actualidad viven en nuestro ciudad es una plaza bastante linda y significativa incluso ellos mismos la fabricarón.

Right at the second entrance to La Verea del Lago Park, on the left-hand side, we find Plaza Italia, which is a special tribute to the people from that country who live in our city of Maracaibo – and there are usually quite a few of them, as our country welcomed the majority of European immigrants, many of whom still live here today. It is a rather lovely and significant square; in fact, they built it themselves.

En esta plaza podemos encontrar una obra artística colorida, en las cuales se encuentra enmarcado cada uno de los mapas de los distintos continentes con los distintos colores, que representan a estos a estos continentes se ve como si fuera un lienzo encinta, lo que le da un toque bastante especial a esta obra artística en particular, en la plaza podemos encontrar pocas bancas en donde sentarse pero en el lugar hay bastante paz y me gustó mucho visitarla.

In this square, you’ll find a colourful piece of art in which each map of the different continents is framed in different colours, representing those continents. It looks as though it were a canvas wrapped in ribbon, which gives this particular piece a rather special touch. There are only a few benches in the square where you can sit, but the place has a very peaceful atmosphere and I really enjoyed visiting it.

Bien podemos encontrar que en todo el centro de la plaza se encuentra un gran cetro con un monumento en su interior y este es el gran Américo de espucio quien fue el que le colocó a nuestro país en nombre de Venezuela, ya que se le asemejaba a la pequeña Venecia el se inspiró en colocarle Venezuela, este nombre puesto que las costas venezolanas les daba ese aire europeo y es por eso que nuestro país se llama así Américo Vespusio era italiano, un explorador y comerciante.

We can indeed see that right in the centre of the square stands a large sceptre with a monument inside it, and this is the great Amerigo Vespucci, who was the one who named our country ‘Venezuela’, as it reminded him of ‘Little Venice’; he was inspired to call it Venezuela, as the Venezuelan coastline gave it that European feel, and that is why our country is called that. Amerigo Vespucci was Italian, an explorer and merchant.
