Hello, travelers! Happy Friday, everyone.

Continuing my adventure at El Golondrino Tourist Park, we left the Esturaque well behind to head to the next one, but not before crossing a trail with lots of rocks and a river right next to it. That’s how we arrived at Tuuna, the next one on the list and the last one if we had followed the order.

It’s a hard-to-reach spring, and we couldn’t get very close because the stream was in the way and we didn’t have the right shoes or clothes to cross it. However, there were people swimming in it. We don’t know exactly how big it is; from a distance, we could only see the river’s source and the huge rocks covering it.

We headed back along the same trail until we reached the footpaths again; we went up one and then down another, and I found a perfect spot in the shade—not too crowded and with just a few rocks that allowed me to get close enough to the stream to dip my feet in. The water was cold, clear, and had a deep brown sandy bottom; it was a relaxing experience.

A minute later, we returned to the trail and came across small, colorful, and pretty flowers that led us to the last well—which, in order, would actually be the first, but it was hidden. Its name is Estinana, also known as Pozo El Golondrino.

As we descended a seemingly endless flight of stairs to get closer to the well, we came upon a cave formed by the arrangement of the rock formations, and we could see the waterfall from a different, almost magical perspective.

Finally, we reached the El Golondrino waterfall. Although the flow of water was low, it was so beautiful and perfect—this was my favorite spot in the park, and to top it off, a swallow even made an appearance for us.

Hello, friends at Hive.

Saturday, October 3, was Dentist’s Day—the 8th time this wonderful profession has been celebrated. Although I took a break from practicing dentistry for years to focus on being a full-time mom, I’ve always been convinced that it’s one of the things I love doing most, and it’s a blessing that I’m now able to do everything I’m passionate about.

The day before this date, my hygienist Miriam prepared a special breakfast with pastries for my colleague Suhail and me. When she extended the invitation, I felt very loved and happy to know she would do something so kind for us.

Just when I thought it was just breakfast, there were more surprises in store for us from Miriam, as well as gifts for me from my coworker. I also prepared a small gift for Suhail—a beaded bracelet in his favorite color, purple.

When I opened my gifts, I was so happy—I hadn’t expected so much—but it turns out they also hadn’t given me my birthday gifts yet, since my birthday was in August and we hadn’t seen each other because we were on vacation.

Before giving me my gift, Miriam said a few words: “I thought long and hard about what to get you, but then I remembered that every time you come back from your trips, you tell me how much you love the flowers you see.” Her gift was a personalized mug with a little flower-shaped handle—perfect for drinking my favorite beverage, coffee—and some socks, including a pair for Christmas that I absolutely loved.

Dr. Suhail gave me a yellow notebook with a sunflower on it—she knows I love to write and that planners are part of my daily routine—as well as a watch and a bracelet in my favorite colors.

The next day, my girls gave me a little tooth, and my aunt gave me a pretty flower she made by hand out of pipe cleaners—she’s very creative.

I know they’re just gifts, but the people who gave them to me made me feel very special. I know that every time I see them or use them, I’ll remember them with great joy, and they brought a smile to my face.

Hola, amigos de Hive.

El sábado 03 de octubre fue el Día del Odontológo, es el 8vo día que celebró de esta hermosa profesión y aunque estuve años fuera del ejercicio por dedicarme a la maternidad a tiempo completo, siempre he estado convencida de que es una de las cosas que más me gusta hacer y es una bendición que actualmente pude realizar todo lo que me apasiona.

Un día antes de esta fecha mi higienista Miriam nos preparó un desayuno especial con pastelitos a mi colega Suhail y a mi persona, cuando ella nos hizó la invitación me sentí muy querida y feliz de saber que tendría tan lindo gesto con nosotras.

Cuando pensaba que se trataba solamente del desayuno, habían más sorpresas para nosotras por parte de Miriam y también regalos para mi de mi colega, por mi parte también preparé un pequeño regalo para Suhail, una pulsera de muelita con su color favorito que es el morado.

Cuando abrí mis regalos estaba muy feliz no esperaba tanto, pero resulta que también tenían pendiente darme mis regalos de cumpleaños que fue durante el mes de agosto y no nos vimos porque estábamos en el periodo vacacional.

Hello, travelers. Happy start to the week, everyone.

We walked through part of the town until we reached El Golondrino; a sign let us know we had arrived, though we still had to walk about two minutes down a path to enter the park. As we watched some kids running, we reached the entrance. Before going in, we paid 500 bolivianos in cash—equivalent to 50 cents—which is quite affordable compared to other tourist attractions.

It’s fascinating right from the start: a simple fountain with small fish swimming inside, a wishing well, and vendors selling trinkets, followed by a sign listing the names of the wells and waterfalls within El Golondrino Park.

Our walk continued along stone paths, flanked by numerous tall trees that provided shade and a pleasant breeze. As we walked, we could see the forest and some enormous rock formations in the distance.

First, we went down near the rocks, where there were small caves that weren’t completely closed off, but I felt like they might collapse on us. We then made our way to Pozo Esticoque, where swimmers were enjoying a refreshing dip, and afterward we climbed up onto the rocks to see the mountainous landscape from different angles.

Then we set off along trails that wound up and down the mountain, surrounded by rocks and trees; the streams that feed the wells ran alongside the path, and we could hear the water flowing.

Shrine of the Child Jesus of Escuque | Santuario del Niño Jesús de Escuque ⛪️

Good morning, travelers. Have a wonderful, adventurous Saturday, everyone.

The town of Escuque is home to a beautiful architectural gem where devotion and faith are palpable even from the outside: the Santuario del Niño de Jesús, one of the most beautiful religious sites I’ve ever seen. It completely captivated me as I gazed at it from afar. It’s located in the heart of this town, very close to Plaza Bolívar.

As I got closer, I could see every detail of its façade: three main doors one larger than the others, with two smaller ones flanking it a clock tower rising above the structure, and smaller bell towers inside, their bells visible from the very top.

The side facade facing the street reveals two of its domes one simpler than the other but with details, including a cross, that give it a unique and special appearance. From here, I could see that the clock read exactly 6:00 p.m., the time for the Eucharist in my country.

I walked up to the entrance, and on the walls I noticed a detail that I find very important: the last restoration of this temple took place in 1981 under the administration of Dr. Luis Herrera Campins as a gift to the people of Escuque.

Inside, there were several parishioners seated on their benches, and since it was almost time for Mass, I decided not to go in because I wouldn’t be able to stay. This day was very special because it was the feast day of my country’s patron saint, the Virgin of Coromoto, but I was able to look all the way to the back where the altar and the Child Jesus of Escuque are locate the interior of this church is a thing of beauty, including its wooden ceiling.

As I was leaving, I noticed that some children dressed as indigenous people were about to enter; I suppose they were going to perform a reenactment depicting the Virgin’s apparition to Chief Coromoto, since it was his feast day.

It was wonderful to visit this church; I still remember the words of a woman inviting us to stay and listen to the sermon, but we were going to find something for dinner so we could head to the inn to rest, since we would be continuing our journey the next day.

A Sudden Change of Schools for Abby | Un cambio repentino de escuela para Abby 🏫

Hi, moms and dads. How are you all doing? I'm doing great, though I'm still coming to terms with some recent changes.

About two weeks ago, I was told that the preschool at the school where both girls were enrolled would be closing due to low enrollment. For me, this was news that was hard to process so much so that I immediately started crying because my routine would be slightly disrupted, and I had already bought all the school supplies on their list.

While I was crying, I thought about possible solutions for the school change. I contacted my daughter’s educational psychologist who had been helping her with her speech and she gave me two school options. She put me in touch with the assistant principal at one of the schools, and, to my relief, there was a spot available for my daughter.

But before enrolling her in the new school, I had to withdraw her from the other one. We went to school one last day to say goodbye to Teacher Lilibeth, who wasn’t just teaching Abby she’d also been in charge of my other daughter when she was in kindergarten. I stayed with the two of them for part of the morning; no other children were there. With a heavy heart, the teacher handed me the list I’d brought and some activities my daughter had done during her first few days there. We gave her a farewell gift.

I explained to Abby that a change was coming for her and that she would no longer be going to the same school as her sister; I explained the same to Alys. At first, they were reluctant about this change, since my oldest daughter always tries to take care of and protect her little sister she even asked me to switch her to a different school too, but I couldn’t do that.

A couple of days later, we finalized her enrollment at a new school, and I took a brief tour of the facilities. It also has a small student body. I had to buy a new colored school uniform, and I kept crying over the change.

We started at this school on Friday, October 2. It might be too soon to say how Abby is doing, but the truth is that she adapted quickly to the change and it was harder for me than it was for her. She’s participated in some group activities and seems very happy. Sometimes we don’t understand sudden changes, but I want to believe this is a necessary change for her education. It will only be for one year because, for elementary school, we’ll return to her previous school for religious reasons.

She asked me if my kids had ever been in a similar situation how did they handle the change?

Hace más o menos 2 semanas atrás me dieron la noticia de que cerrarían el preescolar de la escuela donde estudiaban ambas niñas por baja matrícula de estudiantes, para mi fue una noticia difícil de procesar, tanto que de inmediato me puse a llorar, porque mi rutina se vería levemente alterada, además ya había comprado todos los útiles escolares de su lista.

Mientras lloraba pensaba en posibles soluciones para el cambio de escuela, me comuniqué con la psicopedagoga de mi niña quién nos ayudo con su habla y me dió dió dos opciones de escuela, me puso en contacto con la subdirectora de una de las opciones, para mi tranquilidad había un cupo disponible para la niña.

Discovering Plaza Bolívar in the town of Escuque | Descubriendo la Plaza Bolívar del pueblo de Escuque ⛰️

Hello, friends and travelers. Today, I’ll take you on a tour of the heart of Escuque specifically its Plaza Bolívar, a place steeped in history and devotion.

Near the Escuque City Hall is Plaza Bolívar, a spacious and beautiful public square lined with tall palm trees and lovely green grass in its flower beds. The first thing that caught my eye on one of the trees was a small treehouse, designed so that nearby birds can eat or drink a little water it’s a wonderful gesture of love from the town’s residents toward these animals.

Within the plaza, you’ll find valuable information about this site, such as the fact that the designer and builder of Plaza Bolívar was Master José Rafael Barrios Valera; the project was completed in 1948, and this space is intended to honor his legacy and memory.

We also found sculptures shaped like books and illustrations; the first details that Saint José Gregorio Hernández received the sacrament of baptism in Escuque, and another explains that the Sweet Child of Jesus of Escuque was brought there in 1610 and is part of Venezuela’s cultural, historical, and religious heritage.

Since it was past 6 p.m., there were children playing ball in the square; the atmosphere was pleasant and very peaceful, and the rest of the people were sitting around enjoying good company or conversation.

To conclude the tour, in the center of the plaza stands a sculpture of Simón Bolívar on a ceramic-covered pedestal, which states that it was commissioned by the Regional Government in honor of the Liberator and Father of the Nation.

For me, it will always be an important landmark in every town or city I visit, and Escuque was no exception. Visiting its Plaza Bolívar is part of our legacy as Venezuelans and a reminder of who played an important role in the country’s independence.

My brother Alcides's 21st birthday | Cumpleaños #21 de mi hermano Alcides 🎂

Hello, Hive family and friends. Happy Saturday, everyone.

September is full of celebrations in my family, so a week after my daughter Alys’s birthday, we celebrated the life of my brother Alcides. He’s one of the people I consider most important in my life, because of the similarities we share, although he has a dark sense of humor that, in my opinion, makes him different and special.

My brother just turned 21, and it feels like just yesterday when my parents took us to the hospital on the day he was born; and even though he’s had to undergo several surgeries due to health issues, I always thank God that he’s here with us and has been able to recover.

This year we gathered at home for dinner cornmeal dumplings in tomato sauce with ground beef that my mother prepared with great love; only my grandparents came, but that was more than enough to share; we were without electricity for a few hours, but that didn’t stop us from spending time as a family.

I always take photos on every family member’s birthday; I consider them my most precious treasure, and even though my brother isn’t too fond of them, he eventually agrees, and we take them.

At the end, we sang “Happy Birthday” and ate a delicious cake; Abby (my oldest daughter) couldn’t stop smiling, and she didn’t want to leave my brother’s side she loves him very much.

It was a simple celebration, but surrounded by good company, and it will always remain in my memory.

Hola, familia y amigos de Hive. Feliz Sábado para todos.

Septiembre esta lleno de celebraciones en mi familia así que una semana después del cumpleaños de mi hija Alys celebramos la vida de mi hermano Alcides. Él es una de las personas que considero más importante en mi vida, basándome en las similitudes que tenemos nosotros dos, aunque el posee un humor negro que a mi parecer lo hace distinto y especial.

Mi hermano cumplió 21 años y parece que fue ayer cuando mis padres nos llevaron a la clínica el día de su nacimiento y aunque ha pasado por varias intervenciones quirúrgicas por temas de salud, siempre agradezco a Dios porque está aquí con nosotros y que ha podido recuperarse.

Este año nos reunimos en la casa a cenar bolitas de harina de maíz en salsa de tomate con carne molida que preparó mi mamá con mucho amor, solo vinieron mis abuelos pero eso fue más que suficiente para compartir, estuvimos sin electricidad algunas horas pero eso no impidió que pasáramos tiempo en familia.

Siempre estoy tomando fotos en cada cumpleaños de algún miembro de nuestra familia, considero que son el tesoro más valioso que tengo y aunque a mi hermano no le gustan mucho a la final accede y las tomamos.

Hello, moms and dads. Happy Wednesday, everyone.

On September 15, my oldest daughter, Alys Antonella, turned 8. It’s hard to believe how fast time has flown she’s already such a big girl, getting taller and smarter every day, full of energy and enthusiasm, and always ready to help and give her best.

The day before, I went to pick up her birthday cake. I chose one covered in caramel and topped with various decorations, including chocolate and colorful sprinkles. I also made a Cinnamoroll as a birthday gift from her little sister and me.

Just like every one of my daughters’ birthdays, I wanted this day to be special, so she didn’t go to school that day. We agreed that if classes had already started by then, we’d spend the day together; instead, I went to get her favorite breakfast some crispy tequeños to start the day.

Even though we were without power this morning, we had a visitor a colleague who’s a friend of my sister’s. He brought Alys a Kuromi thermos; she was so happy she couldn’t stop walking around the house with it.

At noon we went to McDonald’s for lunch with her little sister and my mom. The playground was closed that day due to renovations, so they colored for a while while we waited for our food.

Once the food arrived, they were thrilled with their Crocs keychains and the stickers that came with them so they could decorate them. Since it was Alys’s birthday, they gave her a ice cream cone, so she ate two that day because I had already ordered one for each of them she was so happy she got to eat two ice cream cones.

After lunch, we went to the mall to pick out a gift for his dad a pair of white sneakers that he’ll also be able to wear for sports at school.

Later that day, the whole family came to visit, and they brought more gifts, including another cake for Alys. We sang “Happy Birthday,” and she was finally able to blow out her candle and make a wish.
