Sometimes, I look at people laughing, making jokes, and having fun with others, and I wonder what is going on in their minds when they are alone.

Are they really as happy as they appear to be, or are they simply trying to forget their problems for a moment?

One thing life is gradually teaching me is that not everyone who smiles is happy, and not everyone who laughs has nothing to worry about.

I have come to understand that people carry different burdens. Some are struggling financially, some are dealing with family problems, some are disappointed about how their lives are turning out, and others are fighting battles they cannot explain to anyone.

Yet, when they meet people, they smile.

They laugh at jokes. They encourage their friends. They act as though everything is fine.

But when they return to their rooms and find themselves alone with their thoughts, reality comes knocking again.

Why Do We Sometimes Hide Our Pain?

When I think about this, I realize that one reason people hide their pain is that they don't want others to see them as weak.

In a society where people are often expected to be strong, admitting that we are struggling can be difficult. Sometimes, when we open up about our problems, instead of receiving understanding, we receive criticism, judgment, or advice that makes us feel even worse.

Because of this, some people would rather keep quiet and pretend to be fine.

I also believe that some people hide their pain because they don't want to burden others with their problems. They are always available when their friends need help, but when they are the ones struggling, they find it difficult to ask for support.

They have become so accustomed to being the strong ones that they don't know how to express their own weaknesses.

And honestly, I think that can be exhausting.

Imagine being the person who encourages everyone not to give up while secretly fighting the feeling of giving up yourself.

Imagine telling someone that everything will be fine when you are not even sure how you will handle your own situation.

Sometimes, that is the reality of life.

The Pressure to Look Happy

I have also noticed how much pressure society places on people to appear successful and happy.

Everyone seems to be moving forward. Someone has secured a good job, another person has started a business, someone else has bought a car, and another person is celebrating a major achievement.

Meanwhile, someone else is still trying to figure out life.

They may be struggling to pay their bills, searching for employment, dealing with disappointment, or wondering when their own opportunities will come.

Yet, when they meet people, they don't want their struggles to become the centre of attention.

So, they laugh.

They make jokes about life. They join conversations. They celebrate other people's achievements even when they are privately worried about their own circumstances.

I don't think this necessarily means they are pretending to be happy. Sometimes, laughter is simply their way of coping with a difficult situation.

Sometimes, laughing is the only break they get from thinking about their problems.

And I think there is something deeply human about that.

I Am Learning Not to Judge People Too Quickly

One lesson I want to keep learning is how to treat people with more understanding.

I don't want to assume that someone has no problems simply because they laugh a lot. I don't want to conclude that someone is doing perfectly well because they appear cheerful whenever I see them.

The truth is that I cannot know everything happening in another person's life.

Someone may be dealing with a problem they are not ready to discuss. Someone may be trying to protect their family from worry. Someone may not even know how to explain what they are feeling.

This reminds me that kindness should not depend on whether people look troubled.

I want to learn to check on people, listen when they speak, and offer support without making them feel ashamed of their struggles.

Sometimes, I may not have money to give someone. I may not have the solution to their problem. I may not even know the right words to say.

But I can listen.

I can show concern.

I can make someone feel that they don't always have to pretend to be strong around me.

I believe that is one of the simplest ways we can make life a little easier for one another.

As I reflect on this topic, I realize that laughter can mean different things to different people.

For some, it is an expression of genuine happiness. For others, it is a way to manage stress, forget their worries for a moment, or find the strength to continue despite their circumstances.

Whenever I see Bitcoin experience a significant price decline, one question comes to my mind: What is really happening in the market, and what can I learn from it?

I have come to understand that cryptocurrency is not just about buying coins when prices are low and selling when they rise. It is also about understanding market behaviour, managing emotions, and knowing when to be patient.

Today, I want to look at a development that has caught my attention.

Bitcoin Faces Another Market Setback

According to reports published on October 22 and 23, 2026, Bitcoin fell below $82,000 as cryptocurrency markets came under pressure alongside technology stocks.

On October 22, Bitcoin traded around $81,600 after falling more than 3% over 24 hours. Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies also experienced declines.

The market weakness coincided with falling technology stocks, concerns about artificial intelligence investments, and rising oil prices amid geopolitical tensions.

Interestingly, a report published on October 23 indicated that Bitcoin had recovered some ground but remained below the $82,000 mark.

Read more here

What interests me most about this development is the relationship between cryptocurrency and the wider financial market.

Many people think Bitcoin operates independently of everything happening in the traditional financial world. However, market movements increasingly remind us that economic uncertainty, investor confidence, and geopolitical developments can influence cryptocurrency prices.

Why Is Bitcoin Affected by Events Outside the Crypto Industry?

I believe this is an important question for anyone interested in cryptocurrency.

Consider what happens when investors become worried about the economy or the performance of major technology companies.

Some investors may decide to reduce their exposure to assets they consider risky. Because Bitcoin is a volatile asset, it can also experience selling pressure when investors become more cautious.

Rising oil prices can create additional concerns about inflation and the broader economic outlook.

These factors do not automatically determine Bitcoin's direction, but they can influence how investors make decisions.

For me, this is a reminder that understanding cryptocurrency requires looking beyond cryptocurrency itself.

Sometimes, the explanation for a market movement can be found in developments happening thousands of kilometres away.

Three Lessons I Am Taking From This Development

I Should Never Allow Fear to Make My Decisions

When prices start falling, fear can spread quickly through the crypto community.

People begin asking whether the market is crashing, whether they should sell their holdings, or whether they should buy the dip.

I understand why these questions arise. Nobody wants to watch the value of their investments decline.

However, I believe making financial decisions based entirely on panic can lead to mistakes.

Before reacting to a falling price, I would rather understand the circumstances surrounding the decline and consider my financial position.

I Should Not Assume Every Price Decline Is an Opportunity

One popular expression in cryptocurrency is to buy the dip.

While buying during a downturn can sometimes be profitable, I do not believe every dip deserves to be bought.

A price can fall further after the initial decline. A project can also experience problems that have nothing to do with temporary market conditions.

For that reason, I believe research, risk management, and patience should come before the excitement of purchasing an asset simply because it has become cheaper.

A lower price does not automatically mean a better investment.

I Must Learn to Look at the Bigger Picture

This is perhaps the most important lesson for me.

If I want to understand Bitcoin, I cannot focus exclusively on its daily price.

I also need to pay attention to investor sentiment, global economic developments, institutional participation, market liquidity, and developments within the cryptocurrency industry.

The more I learn about these factors, the better equipped I become to interpret market news without jumping to conclusions.

I may not always predict what happens next, but I can improve the way I evaluate the information available to me.

And I believe that matters.

What Does This Mean for Us as Nigerians?

For those of us following cryptocurrency in Nigeria, market volatility deserves particular attention.

Some people are attracted to crypto because they want to improve their financial situation, earn online, or explore opportunities beyond traditional investments.

Sometimes, the more I learn about cryptocurrency, the more I realise that protecting digital assets requires more than simply choosing the right coin or waiting for the market to rise.

A recent report by the Financial Times caught my attention. Criminals reportedly stole approximately $90 million worth of cryptocurrency by tampering with hardware wallets sold through a reseller in Southeast Asia. The investigation later uncovered an unauthorised hardware component designed to capture users' recovery phrases during wallet setup.

You can read the report devices here.

When the device you trust becomes the problem
One reason people buy hardware wallets is to protect their cryptocurrency from online attacks. The idea is simple: keep your private keys away from internet-connected devices and reduce the risk of losing your assets.

But this incident reminds me that security is not always as straightforward as it appears.

Imagine saving your money for months or even years, purchasing what you believe is a secure wallet, and then discovering that the device itself has been compromised before it reaches you.

What makes this situation particularly concerning is that the reported attack targeted the supply chain rather than Ledger's internal systems. According to the investigation, the criminals modified genuine devices and returned them to circulation through a reseller.

It makes me wonder how many people would know what to do if they discovered that the very device they trusted was no longer safe.

My biggest lesson from this incident

For me, the biggest lesson is that owning cryptocurrency and securing cryptocurrency are two different responsibilities.

Many people spend time researching Bitcoin, Ethereum, promising altcoins, and market trends. We want to know which coin could rise next or which project might deliver impressive returns.

However, how much time do we spend learning how to protect what we already own?

This incident has reminded me of a few important practices:

Buy hardware wallets directly from manufacturers or carefully verified, trusted sources.

Never share your recovery phrase with anyone or enter it into a website.

Keep recovery words private and secure, separate from internet-connected devices.

Verify security alerts through official channels rather than relying on social media rumours.

If a device is suspected of being compromised, follow the manufacturer's official guidance and move assets to a secure wallet with a newly generated recovery phrase.

I also understand that no single security measure can eliminate every risk. Even a reputable product can become vulnerable if criminals interfere with its distribution.

Can we still trust cryptocurrency?

I don't believe one security incident means cryptocurrency has no future. However, incidents like this show why trust must be earned through transparency, strong security practices, and accountability.

For cryptocurrency to achieve wider adoption, people must feel confident that their money will not disappear because of a weakness they never knew existed.

At the same time, I believe users must take personal responsibility. Decentralisation gives us greater control over our assets, but that control also comes with responsibilities that traditional banking customers may not always face in the same way.

Losing access to a wallet can be painful. Discovering that someone has deliberately stolen the keys to it is even worse.

As I continue learning about cryptocurrency, I want to focus not only on how to make money but also on how to preserve it. A profitable investment means little if poor security causes everything to disappear overnight

The reported $90 million theft is a painful reminder that in crypto, protecting your assets is part of the investment itself.

Sometimes, the crypto industry reminds me that the biggest danger to our digital assets may not always come from the places we expect.

When I first came across the news about the reported $90 million cryptocurrency theft involving tampered Ledger hardware wallets, I had to pause and think about it.

For years, one of the common pieces of advice given to crypto investors has been to move their assets away from exchanges and into personal wallets. The popular belief is that if we control our private keys, we have greater control over our funds.

I still believe in the importance of self-custody, but this incident has reminded me that security is more complicated than simply owning a hardware wallet.

According to reports, criminals allegedly modified genuine Ledger devices before they reached customers through a reseller in Southeast Asia. The modified devices reportedly captured users' recovery phrases during setup, allowing the attackers to access and drain their cryptocurrency.

The suspected losses have been estimated at nearly $90 million, although the final total has not been independently confirmed.

What makes this story particularly disturbing to me is the level of trust involved.

Imagine saving money little by little, buying cryptocurrency when you can afford it, and taking the recommended step of purchasing a hardware wallet to protect your investment. You believe you have done the right thing, only to discover that the very device you trusted may have been compromised before it reached you.

That is a painful thought.

It also shows me that the crypto world is not just about charts, trading strategies, price predictions, and making profits. It is also about understanding the risks that come with protecting digital wealth.

Self-custody comes with responsibility

One lesson I continue to learn about cryptocurrency is that being your own bank requires more than having a wallet address and knowing how to transfer coins.

It requires caution, patience, and a willingness to learn.

We often hear people say, "Not your keys, not your coins." While I understand the message behind that statement, I think we must also ask ourselves another question: how safely are we protecting the keys that give us control over our coins?

A recovery phrase is not an ordinary password. Anyone who gains access to it may be able to control the funds associated with that wallet. That is why I believe we must treat it with the highest level of care.

This incident also reminds me that a product can look genuine and still deserve careful verification. Buying from a trusted source matters, and following official security guidance matters even more.

What I would take away from this incident

If there is one thing I want to remember from this story, it is that security should never be treated as an afterthought.

I would encourage every crypto user to take a few basic precautions:

Purchase hardware wallets directly from the manufacturer or through a verified, trusted distributor.

Never share your recovery phrase with anyone, regardless of the reason they give.

Never enter your recovery phrase into a website or application simply because someone claims to be offering technical support.

Follow official security notices if you discover that your device may be affected.

Be suspicious of anyone promising to recover stolen cryptocurrency in exchange for an upfront payment.

For people who may have purchased a Ledger device through the reseller linked to this incident, Ledger has issued specific guidance. I would advise affected users to follow its official instructions rather than relying on random social media posts.

One thing I appreciate about the cryptocurrency industry is the freedom it offers people to take greater control of their money. But I am also learning that freedom comes with responsibility.

We cannot eliminate every risk, but we can become more informed and more careful.

I do not think this incident means that every hardware wallet is unsafe, nor do I believe we should abandon self-custody because of one serious case. Instead, I see it as a reminder that security depends on more than the product itself. It also depends on where it comes from, how it is handled, and how we use it.

As crypto adoption continues to grow, I hope manufacturers, distributors, security researchers, and users will take these lessons seriously.

Because at the end of the day, the goal is not merely to accumulate cryptocurrency. It is to protect what we have worked hard to build.

There are some lessons I learned in the classroom, and there are others life had to teach me personally. Interestingly, some of the lessons that have shaped my thinking the most did not come from textbooks, examinations, or lectures. They came from experience, disappointment, mistakes, and the simple realities of everyday living.

As I grow older, I am beginning to understand that education is important, but life itself is another teacher. Sometimes, its lessons are gentle, and sometimes, they come with pain. The difficult part is that life does not always announce an examination before testing our understanding.

Having a certificate does not mean I have figured out life.

School taught me how to study, answer questions, and prepare for examinations. But life has shown me that knowing the right answer is not always enough. Sometimes, I know what I should do, yet making the right decision requires courage, patience, and sacrifice.

I have learned that wisdom is not just about what I know. It is also about how I apply what I know to the situations I encounter.

Money matters more than I once imagined.

Growing up, I knew money was important, but experience has made me appreciate its practical value even more. Money is not everything, but when bills are waiting, responsibilities are increasing, and unexpected needs arise, its importance becomes difficult to ignore.

I have learned that financial stability is not merely about living a luxurious life. Sometimes, it is about having enough to meet basic needs without constantly worrying about what tomorrow will bring.

This has also taught me to respect honest work, regardless of how small it may appear to others. There is dignity in making an honest living and taking responsibility for my life.

Not everybody who smiles with me genuinely wants to see me grow.

Life has taught me to appreciate people without placing unrealistic expectations on them. Some people will genuinely support my progress, while others may only be comfortable with me when I remain at a certain level.

I do not believe I should become suspicious of everyone because of this. Rather, I am learning to observe people's actions, understand boundaries, and stop forcing relationships that no longer serve a healthy purpose.

Trust is important, but I have learned that it should grow through consistent actions, not merely through beautiful words.

Progress does not always happen at the speed I desire.

There are times I look at my life and wonder whether I should be further ahead by now. I have dreams I want to accomplish, goals I want to achieve, and responsibilities I want to handle more comfortably.

Sometimes, seeing other people make progress can make me question my own journey.

But I am learning that life is not a competition in which everybody must reach the same destination at the same time. Someone else's success does not automatically mean I have failed.

I can admire another person's progress while continuing to work on my own life. What matters is that I do not allow comparison to steal my motivation or make me abandon the little steps that could eventually lead me somewhere meaningful.

Failure can teach me things success sometimes cannot.

When things go according to plan, it is easy to feel that I understand everything. But when my plans fail, I am forced to examine my decisions, reconsider my approach, and recognise the areas where I need to improve.

Failure is not pleasant. Nobody enjoys investing time and effort into something only to see it fall apart. However, I am learning that a disappointing outcome does not have to become a permanent definition of who I am.

I can make mistakes without deciding that I am a mistake. I can experience setbacks without concluding that my future is hopeless.

Sometimes, the most valuable thing I gain from a failed attempt is a better understanding of what to do differently next time.

My peace is also worth protecting.

There was a time when pleasing people could seem more important than protecting my own peace. But life has taught me that I cannot satisfy everybody, no matter how hard I try.

I am learning that saying no when necessary does not make me a bad person. Taking time to rest does not mean I am lazy. Walking away from unnecessary arguments does not mean I have lost.

I still believe in kindness, helping others, and being available when people genuinely need me. However, I am also learning that I must not neglect myself in the process of trying to be everything to everybody.

Gratitude can change the way I see my life.

When I look at the growth of cryptocurrency, one thing that keeps catching my attention is how digital money could change the way we send, receive, and manage money, especially here in Africa.

I recently came across news about Circle, the company behind USDC, planning to expand into about 40 new markets. What caught my attention most was the possibility of greater access to stablecoins in emerging economies.

For me, this is an interesting development worth watching.

Think about the challenges people sometimes face when sending money across borders. Transactions can be expensive, exchange rates can be frustrating, and international transfers may take longer than expected. Stablecoins could offer another option for moving value across the internet, depending on the platforms and services available.

USDC is designed to maintain a value close to one US dollar. Unlike Bitcoin, whose price can rise or fall significantly within a short period, a dollar-pegged stablecoin aims to provide more price stability.

As someone living in Nigeria, I can see why this conversation matters. Access to digital-dollar payments could be useful to freelancers, online workers, content creators, and people doing business with customers outside the country.

However, I also believe we need to look at both sides.

Stablecoins are not completely risk-free. Users must consider platform security, transaction fees, regulatory requirements, and the possibility of losing access to funds. A stablecoin's dollar peg is also not an absolute guarantee.

That is why I think education should come before excitement. It is not enough to hear that a new opportunity is coming into the market. We need to understand how it works, what it can do for us, and what risks we are accepting.

Personally, I am interested in seeing whether developments like this will make cryptocurrency more useful in our everyday lives, rather than something people only discuss when prices are rising or falling.

My question is this
If stablecoins become easier to access across Africa, would you consider using them for international payments, online business, or saving in dollar-linked digital assets? Or would you still prefer traditional banking services?

Every time I look at the cryptocurrency market, one thing comes to mind: the crypto market can test your patience, your emotions, and your understanding of money.

Recently, Bitcoin has been holding around the $83,000 region, while Ethereum has been trading around $2,500. There are also signs of renewed interest from institutional investors. These developments may look encouraging, but I believe we need to look beyond the green candles before concluding that the market is recovering.

Is this the beginning of another bull run?

Honestly, I don't think anyone can answer that question with absolute certainty.

I have learned that a temporary price increase does not automatically mean the market has entered a sustained recovery. Sometimes prices rise because investors are optimistic. At other times, the increase may be short-lived, leaving those who bought at the top struggling when the market turns around.

For me, the important thing is not simply to see Bitcoin rise. I want to understand why it is rising, whether buying pressure can continue, and what is happening to other cryptocurrencies.

What about Ethereum and altcoins?
Bitcoin may dominate the headlines, but I also pay attention to Ethereum and other promising blockchain projects.

Ethereum's price movements, institutional interest in digital assets, and developments in blockchain technology all deserve attention. However, I don't believe every altcoin will benefit equally from a market recovery.

Some projects may grow because they solve real problems, while others may lose attention when the excitement fades.

That is why I believe research should come before investment.

My biggest lesson from the crypto market
One thing I keep reminding myself is that I don't have to participate in every market movement to make progress.

Sometimes, the pressure to make quick money can cause people to abandon their plans. We see a coin rising and rush to buy it. We see another coin falling and panic. Before we realise it, our decisions are being controlled by emotions rather than understanding.

I don't want to approach cryptocurrency that way. I want to keep learning, improve my ability to analyse projects, understand market manipulation and risk, and make better-informed decisions.

Most importantly, I don't want the desire to make money to make me forget the importance of protecting the money I already have.

What I will be watching next

As the market develops, I will be paying attention to Bitcoin's ability to maintain its price, institutional investment flows, Ethereum's performance, and the broader economic factors that influence risk assets.

I will also be watching how the market responds to negative news. Sometimes, how an asset behaves during uncertainty tells us more than how it performs during a period of excitement.

I believe cryptocurrency still offers opportunities, but opportunities and risks often exist side by side.

For me, success in this space is not just about finding the next coin that could multiply in value. It is also about developing patience, managing risk, and learning enough to avoid decisions I may regret later.

The real question is not simply whether Bitcoin is rising. The question is whether the market has enough strength to sustain that rise.

Disclaimer: This post reflects personal observations and is for educational purposes only. Cryptocurrency prices are volatile, and nothing here should be taken as financial advice

As someone who follows developments in the cryptocurrency world, I keep reminding myself that there is more to crypto than price movements, profit, and the excitement of watching coins rise in value.

Sometimes, the most important crypto stories are not about a coin reaching a new all-time high. They are about the security of the technology we trust with our money.

One development that caught my attention is the reported security vulnerability involving the XRP Ledger.

What happened?

Reports published on October 12, 2026, discussed a vulnerability that could potentially have allowed the creation of XRP beyond its intended supply. Developers responded with an emergency security patch rather than waiting for the normal validator-voting process.

This is a serious reminder that even established blockchain networks must continuously identify weaknesses, improve their systems, and respond to threats.

It is important to understand that a reported vulnerability does not automatically mean that the exploit occurred or that XRP was actually created illegally. The distinction between a potential threat and a confirmed attack matters.

What does this teach me about cryptocurrency?

No blockchain should be treated as completely risk-free

Sometimes, we become so confident in a popular cryptocurrency that we forget it is still technology built and maintained by people. Software can contain weaknesses, and even experienced developers can encounter unexpected problems.

For me, this is a reason to remain informed rather than blindly trusting any project.

Security is more important than hype

I have seen how discussions about cryptocurrency often focus on price predictions, market capitalisation, and the next coin that might deliver extraordinary returns.

But what happens when the technology behind a project faces a serious vulnerability?

I believe security deserves as much attention as profitability. A project may attract millions of users, but its long-term credibility also depends on how it handles risks and communicates with its community.

Decentralisation requires responsible coordination

One question this development raises for me is how blockchain networks should respond when an urgent security problem arises.

Decentralisation gives participants a role in maintaining a network, but emergency situations can create difficult decisions about speed, transparency, and collective agreement.

I believe the strongest projects are those that can address these challenges without abandoning accountability.

Research should come before investment

I do not want my cryptocurrency decisions to depend entirely on what people say on social media. Before putting money into any project, I want to understand its purpose, security history, development team, and potential risks.

I also want to remember that no amount of research can eliminate every investment risk.

https://img.leopedia.io/DQmQFHJ4x8UBPkPce6WQP3XDzaS56pJy63xu6v7p5iR4Mvp/images%201.jpeg ©

The XRP Ledger story reminds me that the future of cryptocurrency will depend on more than rising prices and growing adoption. Security, transparency, accountability, and the ability to respond to vulnerabilities will also play important roles.

I am interested in seeing how blockchain technology continues to develop over the next five to ten years. However, I believe that for cryptocurrency to earn greater public trust, its supporters must be willing to discuss its weaknesses as honestly as they celebrate its successes.

Posted Using INLEO

If I were given the opportunity to choose between being extremely wealthy but having no freedom, or living a simple life with freedom, I would choose freedom without thinking twice.

Don't get me wrong. I love money, and I understand how important it is in the world we live in today. Money can pay bills, provide shelter, support family members, create opportunities, and make life more comfortable. In a country like Nigeria, where financial struggles can make even basic needs difficult to meet, I know that having money matters a lot.

But I have come to understand that having money is not the same as having a good life.

Imagine waking up every morning in a beautiful house, driving an expensive car, and having millions in your bank account, yet you cannot make your own decisions. You cannot spend time with the people you love because your life is controlled by business demands. You cannot sleep peacefully because you are afraid of losing what you have. You are wealthy on the outside but imprisoned on the inside.

What kind of success is that?

For me, freedom means having control over my time, making decisions that align with my values, worshipping God without compromise, pursuing my passion, and spending quality time with the people who matter to me. It means being able to say no to things that threaten my peace, even when saying yes could bring me more money.

I want to work hard and become financially stable. I want to provide for my family, help people in need, and build something meaningful with my life. But I don't want to sacrifice my peace of mind, integrity, health, and relationships just to accumulate wealth.

I would rather have enough money to live freely than have so much money that I become a prisoner of my own possessions.

Of course, I know that freedom without financial responsibility can also become a struggle. That is why I believe the real goal should be to build wealth that serves our lives, rather than building a life that serves wealth.

I don't want money to become my master. I want it to be a tool that helps me live according to my purpose.

At the end of the day, I believe the richest person is not necessarily the one with the biggest bank account, but the one who has the freedom to live meaningfully, sleep peacefully, love genuinely, and make choices without being controlled by fear or greed.

When I think about service in the house of God, I am reminded that serving God is more than occupying a position or performing a duty. It is about having a willing heart, being faithful in the little things, and understanding that whatever I do for God should be done with love and sincerity.

Personally, I serve in different capacities in my church. I play the keyboard, sing in the choir, and also serve as the church financial secretary. These responsibilities may appear different, but to me, they all have one thing in common: they are opportunities to serve God and contribute to the growth of His kingdom.

Serving God Through Music

Whenever I sit behind the keyboard, I see it as more than playing musical notes. I see it as an opportunity to contribute to an atmosphere where people can worship God, connect with Him, and express their hearts in His presence.

The same applies to singing in the choir. Singing is not just about having a good voice or getting the notes right. It is about ministering to people through songs that glorify God and communicate His truth.

I have come to understand that music ministry requires preparation, discipline, commitment, and spiritual sensitivity. I cannot expect to serve effectively if I am unwilling to practise, learn, and grow. Beyond the instruments and microphones, I believe that the condition of my heart matters too.

As Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”

This reminds me that my service should come from a heart of gratitude, not from a desire to be noticed or praised by people.

Serving God Through Financial Stewardship

Another responsibility I have in my church is serving as the financial secretary. This role has helped me appreciate another important aspect of service: accountability.

While playing the keyboard and singing may be visible to the congregation, financial administration often happens behind the scenes. It requires honesty, accuracy, transparency, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Church finances are not something to handle carelessly. Every record, report, and financial detail matters because people give their resources to support the work of God. I believe that anyone entrusted with such a responsibility should handle it with integrity, knowing that faithfulness is important whether or not someone is watching.

Proverbs 11:3 says, “The integrity of the upright shall guide them.”

For me, this principle applies not only to financial duties but to every area of Christian service. I should be trustworthy with the resources placed in my care, just as I should be faithful with the talents God has given me.

Different Responsibilities, One Purpose

Sometimes, I reflect on the fact that I serve in three different capacities. Each responsibility demands something from me, and balancing them requires commitment and proper time management.

However, I am learning that service in God's house is not a competition. I do not have to occupy the pulpit before my service becomes meaningful. I do not have to hold the most visible position before my contribution matters.

The person who cleans the church, the person who welcomes worshippers, the person who teaches children, the person who keeps financial records, the chorister, and the instrumentalist can all make meaningful contributions to the work of God.

In 1 Corinthians 12:4–6, the Bible teaches that there are different gifts and services, but the same Spirit and the same Lord.

This reminds me that we may not all serve in the same way, but we can work together toward the same purpose.

What matters is not how visible my service is, but how faithfully I carry out the responsibility entrusted to me.

The Heart Behind My Service

I also understand that serving in the church does not mean I will always feel energetic, motivated, or appreciated. There may be days when I feel tired, when responsibilities become demanding, or when my efforts go unnoticed.

On such days, I need to remind myself why I started serving in the first place. If my motivation depends entirely on people's appreciation, I may become discouraged when that appreciation is absent.

This does not mean that church workers should be neglected or that leaders should take their commitment for granted. Every worker deserves respect, encouragement, and support. Nevertheless, I believe my service should ultimately be rooted in my love for God rather than in human recognition.

Colossians 3:23 encourages us to do our work heartily, as unto the Lord and not merely for people.

That scripture challenges me to give my best whether I am playing the keyboard, singing in the choir, preparing financial records, or carrying out any other responsibility in God's house.

I am still learning, still growing, and still trusting God to help me become more faithful in every area of my service.
