Crowdfunding Is Good, But Can We Still Trust Those Who Ask For Help?

I actually do not see anything wrong with crowdfunding, it is good. At least it makes helping people easier, I mean when you're in a situation that even you know you can't handle or cater for alone, crowdfunding can always come in handy then. And it could be because of anything, maybe health issues, school fees, and any other things, and in such situations it is not bad to ask for help online since you know it would help you sort whatever it is you want sorted quicker.

I almost did that sometimes ago too, I just felt somehow about it and stopped it. Not because I wanted to lie nah, I actually needed that help and was in a very tight position, I even wanted to do it on hive, I have several evidence to back it up and post it with together, but I don't know what to call it, I just had a rethink, maybe I felt I won't feel good announcing myself and my situation on the Internet and seeking for help. But aside that, I have seen a lot of people do it on here and I've seen how people gather around to help them out, show concern, encourage them, gift them and all of that. So it is definitely a good thing.

Now, the problem lies in that not everyone we see online asking for help us genuine about it. I've seen a case on hive where a lady asked for help I think for her mum or sis health issues, and people actually came around to help her and all. She posted various receipts, and various evidences to back it up, and for that people trusted it and felt she's been genuine about it, only for me to later hear that it was all a lie, she forged all those documents and receipts. Why play with people's emotions, aside from that too, you've denied some other people who may actually be in need tomorrow from getting it.

I don't want to mention names, but then it is just so bad. I would love to cite an instance that a kot of us may know about it, it is that of Blessing CEO. She came online some months back and claimed she had cancer and needed support, she brought evidences, she scrapped her hair and do all those things that would make people believe her and send her money. Only for EFCC to later carry her and we got to know that she falsified rhe medical reports she posted online and that she didn't have cancer. Now, tell me how someone, maybe even a celebrity too would do same tomorrow and ask the public to donate and they will actually do.

Also, this doesn't mean that we should stop helping and donating to people online. We still have very genuine people who are really in need of that help. So we shouldn't because of bad and dishonest people deny genuine people of help. And while trying to help to, we should try as much as possible to verify the person's claim and as well ask for some kind of evidence if possible, not just any kind of evidence but one that we know wouldn't be that easy to get except if you're actually in that situation. We should also check whatever information is been provided to us very well, while also making sure that the account we're sending our funds to tallys with the person asking for help or the organization involved. I'm also thinking that if it is for health purpose, then the hospital itself should be contacted for their account details and to confirm the genuineness of the case or health crisis so whatever people are helping with can be sent there directly.

So, let's keep on helping. Crowdfunding is good, and it is not the problem, the problem is with the dishonest ones amongst us.

I Don't Just Want To Exist; I Want My Life To Mean Something—LOH#311

This is a situation I've found myself in countless times, just sitting down and doing some very deep thinking. Thinking about my life, my journey, and everything in-between, most of the time I'd find myself asking this question: "Why exactly am I here? What exactly is my purpose? What did God keep me?" And believe me, these questions are valid, especially for someone like me that life has thrown a lot of things at and is still standing, even when I had lost hope in myself; God kept me alive.

While growing up, I always thought it would be so easy; I never knew life is not a bed of roses. I thought discovering purpose would be easy; I never knew it is this hard. For me, I had to really experience life; just like I said earlier, I was faced with a lot of things that made me question everything I know. I had to fight really hard to keep standing; it wasn't easy. You know that kind of situation you're in, and you have no power over it. Time slips by, and I'm just there lying on the hospital bed with no hope of getting better soon. I was there for, like, two years, and all my plans and dreams have to take a pause. But looking back at it all now, I realize that those times taught me a lot of things too, things I wouldn't have ever known or learned.

Well, I'm still here discovering purpose, though; it is not that easy, and it is not something you discover overnight. And I won't want to lie or pretend that I do or already did. I know very well that I love to write, though, even before hive and aside from hive too. I write a lot. Not only that, but I love it when my words are able to reach someone, comfort someone, or be the right thing someone is supposed to read/see at a particular time/phase of their life. And at times, I'd wonder if that is also a part of my purpose.

As I will always say, I'm still a work in progress. So, as I'm still here discovering myself and doing the various things I love to do, I know that one of the reasons why I'm here is so that my life can mean something, something meaningful. I don't just want to exist; I want to touch lives, I want to make good impacts, I want to use my own story to give hope to others, and I want to use whatever God has given me to make life better and livable for someone else.

Everyone Deserves A Second Chance, Right?

Personally, I believe everyone deserves a second chance, yeah, I understand that some mistakes or offenses might be big and not so easy to let go of, but I still believe that everyone deserves a second chance. This is not to say that we can't punish the person or let the law take its course; even still, we all deserve a second chance. No one is perfect, and inasmuch as I agree that some of us make those mistakes out of ignorance, some very well know what they are doing, and they still go ahead to do it. Whatever it may be that led to that mistake, the deed is done already, and I feel such a person should be given a second chance to straighten their already crooked way.

Like I said earlier, I'm not saying we won't punish such a person or let the law take its course on them; they've definitely done something bad, so allow them to get punished while also giving them room to learn from their mistakes. But I will as well like to add that this as well depends on the situation and on what way it is done, and also on if the person is willing to change and right their wrongs or prove that they can be trusted and are now a changed person.

We all have at one time or another made a mistake, and most of the lessons we've learned today were as a result of the mistake we made sometime ago. So, making mistakes is human; we should only make sure to learn from them and not keep repeating it. I've made a lot of mistakes too; some I didn't fully think about the consequences and just delved into it, but then I've come to learn that we shouldn't be hasty in making decisions like that, we need to take our time to think, and consider how our decision/choices can affect the people around us.

So, we all should be careful about our decisions, check how it will affect others, think about the consequences, and be sure of what we're going into to avoid having to know. And we shouldn't as well judge people too fast; we should always remember that we're humans and can't/won't always get things right at a go.

So, second chances can help change a person's life and also give them room to show that they're now a different person who has learned from their mistakes.

When Kindness Becomes Content.

Huhm, I needed help, then someone helped me, and then I found out that the person actually used me or the help he/she rendered to chase clout. I don't know for anyone, but for me I will still appreciate that help. I was in dire need of something and you came to my rescue, you helped me out and I was able to sort and overcome whatever it was I was facing then, then I will be grateful to you. The only thing is just that I would feel somehow towards the person, not as if I won't feel grateful, of course I will, just that I will now start seeing that person differently. There are some situation that when you're in it, you just want to find every means possible to get out of it, so now seeing someone who's ready to help you, but is doing it to gain attention, of course your own concern is just to get out of whatever it is, so why not take and appreciate the help.

About two months ago, I heard the story of a man who was in a very tight situation, to feed his family was an issue, to do little things was problem and he didn't even know the best thing to do. He was relieved from work due to health reasons, he even went for this labour work for like a week before he stopped going because his health is not good. To cut the story short, he received some visitors sometimes and they told him they're there to help him, they gave him money, foodstuffs and all, while doing and giving him those things he found out that they came with camera and they began to record the whole thing. He felt somehow about it at first but just felt, well it's nothing. A week later, he saw himself on the internet crying and appreciating those people, all the things that happened and transpired between them in his house when they came was what they posted, including his emotional moments. The man felt bad about it, as the comment section of the post began to gather various comments and all.

There are also those who were praising and thanking the group of people who came to his house on his behalf too. That account began to gain more views and followers, and the man didn't really have an issue with that, what made him feel bad was how the comment section was used to discuss his situation and all. The people who helped him were actually interested in the views, followers and attention they will get. Although the money and foodstuffs they gave him made a huge difference in his home, still he felt embarrassed.

So what I'm saying is, one might be in a situation where you just need to meet your needs as soon as possible. There's a huge difference between helping and chasing clout, if you want to help, feel free to help without letting the whole wide world know about it, must you show the world heo helpless a person is before you came to their rescue, must the comment section always be used to praise you while also dissecting the problem and issue of another person. I understand that some actually share this things just so to be able to encourage others to help and give out too, but you will surely know those kind of people. They are not the type who jump on the internet every single time they do something.

There's this guy I love so much, he's a Nigerian skit maker, Brainjotter. The guy does a lot of charity works, and you won't know. He posts very little about it online while he does his thing. Some aren't doing it for clout chasing, some actually just want to help, I remember hearing him say he loves the feeling behind helping people, knowing you're the reason someone is able to eat, to have a roof to stay under, to get necessary treatment and all, he said that feeling is enough.

In conclusion, I will definitely accept such help if I truly and really need it, I will just know within me that this person isn't actually helping me because they want to help or because they love me, but because they actually want to chase clout with it.

My Life, My Path, My Time_ LOH#311

While growing up, a lot of us had different people around us who felt like this is how you should do things, this is how this should go, this is how you should live your lives, and all that. Most times, those people are our parents, and I very well understand that they just wanted the best for us. But then, we find out that we're living our lives according to what people/someone expects or wants us to and not according to how we actually want.

As a young guy, I've come to realize and understand that we all are different, and so is our journey. I have friends my age who have a house of their own, cars, and good jobs and are already married, while I'm still here trying to find my feet and feed myself. And trust me, I'm genuinely happy for them, and I know that mine is coming very soon too, so this is just life; it doesn't mean I've failed.

Also, looking back at things now, I can say that my life didn't follow the path/script I wanted it to; I remember how I had imagined living my life and how I calculated things back then. But now here I am; stuff happened along the way that made me lose balance, some took things away from me, time went by without waiting for me, and some of my dreams are now on hold. However, I've learned that delay is not denial. I know I will get it; I know I will surely attain that height. As long as I keep going and make the right choices, then the top is sure for me.

I don't live my life to please anyone. Yeah, I seek advice and ask for opinions and all, and still I know that whatever step I take and any decisions I make, I will be the one to live with it. Though I'd always keep in mind to do the right things, because even though I know I will have to live with whatever the consequences of my decisions are, either good or bad, it will also affect my loved ones too.

So, here's me working towards becoming someone that I will be proud of, working towards a life of peace and fulfillment, and not someone trying to meet people's expectations. It is my life, no doubt about that; even still, I have people who are connected to it, and my decisions can also affect them.

Who Checks On The People Who Are Always There For Others?

This is a topic I can very well relate with. I've had a lot of times when I'm going through and dealing with a lot and was still always smiling and acting like everything is going on well with me. There are times I just smile and joke, and all just so as not to make anyone suspicious or notice I'm not fine. And there are even times I'd wish someone who knows me so well, someone who can look beyond the smile on my face and see me, and ask me if I'm really fine and doing well.

And the funniest part is, I'm not the type who opens up to people that much, and I have my reasons, one of which is that I happen to be that go-to person of a lot of people. And I also happen to be the type who does not like to disturb others with my own problem. I don't like being a burden to someone, and I also do not want to regret sharing stuff with someone I will later regret or that will now make my case a topic of discussion.

We all are different; I very well understand that. But I know that people like me who barely talk or say if they're having a problem are always scared of getting judged or being seen differently. Some of those who act genuine and ask how we feel don't actually mean it; some do not really care; they are just acting like they do. And because some of us have had this experience with people, we felt keeping quiet is the best thing to do.

But then, we don't need to pretend to be fine when we are not. We're all humans, and we will always need one another. Let us try as much as possible to be a safe space for someone else; let us learn to listen and be there for each other. We all are humans, so we should make the world a safe and better place to live in. We all are carrying something inside of us; we all are facing one or two, and for that reason we should be a little kinder to one another. The fact that someone is smiling doesn't mean they are really happy; the fact they're looking good doesn't mean they don't have things bothering them too. And for people like us, we actually do not need you to really solve our problems; we just need you to be that person that we're to others too. I mean, we just need to know that we can trust someone too and that someone can genuinely care for us as well.

Blinded By Opportunity: How I Lost My Funds To Online Scammers.

Well, I've as well had my own fair share of experiences with these scammers and in this writeup I will be talking about two, both happened this year and believe me it is not a kind of experience anyone would want to have, even I don't pray I fall for that kind of a thing again. And what made it very painful for me is that both involves money and I wasn't able to recover anything from it too.

The first happened just sometimes ago, and what made me believe this was because it was introduced to me by a very close friend of mine. I trusted him especially because he said he's been able to get money from it too, so I decided to give it a trial. To add to it, I was very broke as at then, I had to withdraw some funds here on hive to be able to fund it. To me, it is a good decision, I still I would still make some money off it, aside from that the friend who introduced me is someone I trust, so why not. Unfortunately for me, things didn't go as I thought it would and my money was gone, I couldn't access it, the site crashed and everything went down the drain.

I was even more pained because of where I had to withdraw money from to fund it. I've worked hard to have that amount on my wallet here only to withdraw it and put into something that didn't yield and didn't give me a return of what I invested in it. Ever since then, I have been very cautious, no matter who you're, I won't just believe you easily especially on things that concerns money. Money is not easy to make, so why would I always risk things.

Now, the second experience I had happened in February this year, it was just a week and some days to my birthday and I had kept checking my hive to see what it amounts to do I can remove some and celebrate the me who has been working all day of the year. I also have some HBDs keft too, so I've nade plans around it. Only for me to come on hive and saw some comments on my post and I began to respond it. In one of the comments I saw a link, and the write-up attached to the link said something about a reward for some of us who have never powered down on hive.

That was how I went to click on the link, I felt somehow about it so I took a screenshot and sent it to someone, but since I wasn't getting a response fast, some hours later I went back to it and clicked on the link. Lo and behold it opened a page that looked like hive blog or hive vote😔, I can't really recall, it asked for one of the passwords and because of it's resemblance with either hive vote/hive blog, I pasted the password and that was it. My hive and the little HBD I had disappeared. The comment looked so convincing and the frontend it popped up to looked just so real that I didn't bother to recheck.

That was how my account was compromised and the little fund I had there was taken. The money I was looking forward to spending and using for something meaningful was taken away. The person even clicked on my HP to start unlocking it. Immediately I reached out to my bro and I was able to stop it and he also helped me changed my keys. Sadly, I wasn't able to recover anything.

Those two experiences had taught me a very great lesson, and that is to be very careful online and beware of links. All these scam links and all don't always look suspicious. They just look promising and you just feel, don't let me lose out on this opportunity. So, since then, I take my time before taking such steps. No matter how convincing, and promising it looks, I ask questions and make research about it. Recently I still saw a comment like that with a kink on in of my post, just some weeks ago, I just hissed.

I'm also sharing this in hope that someone else will learn from it and be able to avoid the mistake that I made.

Hive in 5 Years: A Place Where Everyone Has A Reason to Stay.

Imagining hive in five years' time, I really hope and look forward to a lot. I'm very sure Hive will have become a much bigger platform with lots of users by then and even before then. And as always, that it will remain a transparent platform that has always been where people can share their experiences, thoughts, ideas, and opinions and at the same time learn, meet, and connect with others.

By then too, I hope Hive would be a more welcoming community, where new users are seen, encouraged, and welcomed with open arms. Also, I hope that Hive will become a platform known by more people, because even up until now there are still a lot of people who don't know what hive is or have even heard about it. And by then, I really hope it will have become a very well-known and universally known platform that gives you the freedom to share your ideas, connect with others, and also earn in it too.

Also, I hope and wish that hive would have become a more supportive and fairer platform where people are actually being rewarded for sharing great, good, and original content. A lot of people seem to be unnoticed today, and it's just so painful that we take time to do all of these and get nothing or very little in return; it just seems the rewards or votes are for some few sets of people. I just hope we all get the chance to be seen and appreciated. And that the price of the hive would have gone up too—that is, as well—is very important.

So, that's it for me, a place where all can have a reason to stay and not just a reason to join.

I've Been The Patient, Now I Want To Be Someone's Hope.

If I have the opportunity to choose a profession without having to worry about money and how long it will take to be a professional at it, I would gladly choose to be a medical doctor. It definitely sounds like a good and common choice, but believe me, it is different for me. I have my reasons, and they are very deep ones, as you would find out in the course of this write-up.

There was a time in my life when all of my life revolved around the hospital and its vicinity. For about two years or more, I had to undergo various surgeries, do different tests, be on admission, and have to go through different procedures and all. What I'm trying to say is, I've seen and know what it means to be sick/in a very bad health condition, and I've also seen the huge difference good medical care can make.

These experiences all together made me not just appreciate but also respect people who are in the medical line. I admire them so much. It is not easy being that person who helps others get better. And I would love to be that kind of person, one who's in a position to help others get better, encourage them, share my own stories with them, listen to their fears, and all.

I remember then when I was getting better, my consultant then told me if I loved the profession and would love to go for it, well, I told him yes, because in all honesty, I have come to develop a lot for that profession.
But then I just felt it was too late for me. I'm already running another program as of then. Even though I had to put a pause to it due to my health, I can't afford to go start again with another totally different career path/profession, especially considering the cost as of then and the situation of things too.

So if the opportunity comes, it would be to be a medical doctor; it goes beyond just having a respected profession who's earning well but is about having the opportunity to make a good and positive difference in people's lives. I very well understand that the profession can be very draining; I saw it back then, and I have friends who are doctors and some who are nurses, pharmacists, and all, so I know how much of their time it usually takes. Even still, it is comforting knowing you're doing something that gives meaning to your life.

For that reason and more, if I had the freedom to choose, becoming a medical doctor would be my choice.
