The Richest Men In The World

Like I mentioned the other day, I'm finally home from my eastern road trip of sorts.

And tonight was extra special because I got to spend some time with my brothers in Christ that are fellow truckers. We meet each and every Thursday night for a quick bible study but also for prayers. And most importantly, for fellowship with dudes that understand each other.

I've spoken about this trucking ministry before, and I still maintain that it's one of the most important ministries I've ever discovered. And our bible study each week helps cement that belief.

Tonight we were talking about one of the 10 commandments, and specifically the tenth commandment.

The one that talks about....Coveting.

And honestly, I think it's one we all at one time or another, fail miserably at. I know I do...My goodness, how many times have I said in my life....I wish I had this, or I wish I had that. Jealously and selfishly, it seems to creep up into our lives more than we'd live to admit.

What also seems to be attached at this sin we hold onto, usually has to do with money. Or some kind of wealth that we assume will make all our lives better. And yeah, I've spoken about this before on this blog.

But here's where the bible study with my trucking brothers comes into play....

We started talking and before we all started feeling sorry for ourselves, one of the members of the group chimed in...

I consider myself the richest guy in the world, and it's got nothing to do with money!

It took us by surprise but not for long, because we knew exactly where he was going, and we all started saying....Amen!

You see, as a believer in Christ we should all consider ourselves extremely rich! Imagine the gift we are going to be given, robes of righteousness! Eternal life with our Lord and Savior.

Its something that no amount of money can ever purchase, I mean it's literally...A gift!

And what a precious gift it is. His blood, shed for us, so that we can reign with Him for eternity. Oh wretched man that I am, I don't deserve this...Grace!

And I think at times I can never wrap my head around that marvellous grace. But getting back to that statement, this is so important for believers to remember because guess what...

Life is rough!

Sometimes it sucks.

But the hope of glory is what we keep our eyes on, the promise of a future eternity with our Creator.

That's not just rich.....That's absolute wealth!

Long Days & Autumn Nights

Fall colors....

Beautiful forests...

Incredible sunsets...

It's my last night on the big trip and I'll be home tomorrow for a few days.

And I ended up taking a few pictures of the trip, not as many as I had hoped but I got a few good ones.

A few from my time in Northern Manitoba. The fall colors were incredible. I drove for two hours and counted 5 cars on the road passing me.

The first sunset was in Saskatchewan. They call it the land of living skies for very good reason.

The next picture was a few combines out on the field. It was harvest time.

And finally....Sunset in Bonnyville Alberta!

Big weekend ahead though.....Up north trip with snow in the forecast lol

Thoughts From Daniel

I was going through my yearly bible reading today while on the road, and began the book of Daniel in the plan.

I love this book....Spoiler alert...It's literally my favorite book in the entire bible, not only because of all the historic prophecies that have been fulfilled. But there is one verse I credit for my conversion to Christianity...

Obviously, there was much more to it than this, but when I put secular history and matched it with the book of Danile and the prophecies of chapter 2, 8, 8 and 9....I was hooked. And this verse alone, if you study history, will cement your faith in Scripture.

But that's a study for another day lol

So back to my daily readings, I went through Daniel 1,2 and 3 today. And briefly the TLDR version of each chapter goes like this:

Chapter 1 - Daniel and the 3 Hebrews challenge the 'diet' of their captors. By eating a diet from the garden of Eden, they show the rulers of Babylon, that God's original diet is always best.

Chapter 2 - The king's dream which lays out prophetically world kingdoms and their rise and fall throughout history. With pin point precision at that.

Chapter 3 - The 3 Hebrews are tested and do not bow down to the king's statue. Because of this, they are thrown into the fiery furnace and God protects them.

Here's my 'aha' moment for these three chapters...Daniel and his friends didn't just 'get faith' when they needed it. They didn't just start praying to God for miracles and revelations. They didn't just start eating healthy all of a sudden...

Far from it.

You see, Daniel and his friends were young when they arrived in Babylon. So that tells us that they were brought up in a household that worshipped God. And their prayer life and devotional life mattered to them.

And because of those habits they formed throughout their lives, they were ready or excuse me, God got them ready for when the trials came.

There's something very important to note as well on top of those object lessons of steadfast faith, and that is that God never 'saved' the friends from the fire. They were thrown in. Here's what God did, He saw them and protected them THROUGH the fire.

I think this is important because we see in Scripture that the last days can come at anytime, and if we think God is going to miraculously 'rapture' people up that never worshipped Him or spent time with Him, that's just insanity to me. A relationship can't be built when it's one way. He wants to spend time with us because He knows, there will be trials and tribulations the longer this world goes on.

And it's not 'saved from' this world....It's saved THROUGH this world.

But it has to start with us now. Spending time in His Word. Prayer. Fasting. Developing a Christ-like character so that when those trials do come, and they will, we will reflect our Savior!

#MyHiveGoals - Last Weekend On The Big Trip

I'm so grateful for coming close to being home this week...

And even though I'm technically on the road until November 4th, I will be home this week! For at least a few days lol

But then back on the road again next weekend, for a quick trip up to Northern Alberta.

I pray that it won't be snowing lol

And this past week, I got kind of lazy. Well, not really lazy but after hours and hours of driving, the last thing I had energy for was to sit down and create content. And I know I said I'd do my best to create every day but alas...I'm getting old LOL

Still, I'm happy to jump back at it tonight and see how the past week was on chain when it came to content creation and curation rewards.

Let's dig in!

50,000 Hive Power

Obviously, I haven't been active every day over the past few weeks, so rewards were lower than most weeks.

50,000 - 36,815 = 13,185 left to go

So yeah this past week was kind of low. Only around 200 Hive added, a bit less. And I do see that the votes I've been getting has been lower than normal, which again I expect. Especially with the #christian content on chain. This place will forever be lukewarm to that content but it's all good. 200 Hive added, I'm happy!

Plus the k/e ratio went down to 2.92 now!

400 Subscribers To The Kingdom

Speaking of Christian content...

This was awesome to see! We actually added 2 new amazing people to the Kingdom community!

New people, new content and I need to get more active in there and get some HSBI sent to the creators. I'll have more time this coming week to do exactly that!

BBHO & Things

So I have a question, I've been adding BBHO basically since day one, but my weekly drips haven't increased at all. Is this maxed out or something @bradleyarrow ? Curious if we get more drips with the more BBHO we stake?

Speaking of that, I'm still only curating about 25-30 BBHO per full upvote, so get that content out there, I'll find it with the #bbh tag!

How as @hive-grove this week? Oh baby!!!

I can't begin to describe how cool this is!

Literally dropping Hive into my power each and every day. It may not be setting things on fire, but it looks like I'll be in profit within the first 6 months. After that, all profit!

I'm still stacking that liquid Hive from my Hive-Engine lease every day. And at about 50% done, I'm going to have plenty of Hive to power up on November 1st! All in all, given that I've been on the road, I'm very happy with the numbers.

Once that lease is done, I'm going to delegate to @ecency because my Ecency points are getting low and I love promoting my posts on the platform.

Bible Study In The Truck

When I start my trips across the country for work, I get really fired up...

I say to myself, this is going to be over two weeks on the road where you will be able to get a TON of #bible study done. And I start off with all the tools I need....

Bible? Check.

Journal? Check.

Books? Check.

Commentaries? Check.

Study materials? Check.

I'm ready! 18 days on the road, nothing is going to stop me from spending time with my bible and God!

And then....I start scrolling. Before long, I've watched reaction videos from music of my youth, random sports news on X, and pretty much everything except....Actually studying Scripture.

Now I can't get too hard on myself because while I'm driving, I'm listening to a ton of theology podcasts plus, going through multiple days of my bible reading plans...

I actually got through about 10-12 days of reading today alone. So I'm going through the bible, via audio. But it's not the same...

There's something I truly love about opening up the word of God, pen in hand and digging through the Scriptures. It's my happy place for sure. And tonight I made sure there was no excuse...

I got the truck parked, and started digging...

My church as a whole does quarterly bible studies. And for the fourth quarter, we're reading and studying about the gift of prophecy. What a fascinating look at prophets from the old testament and new.

I shared with you guys last week about 1 Kings. And the story of Elijah. This has been my obsession lately. Really digging into his ministry and the stories of the ups and downs that he faced. A regular dude, just like you and I. Such a powerful man and a blessing to everyone.

So tonight, I'm re-reading 1 Kings 17,18 and 19. Plus reading a few chapter in the churches companion book to this quarters lessons. Safe to say, I'm fired up for the night.

Doing studies in the truck can be challenging because even though I can focus, my attention seems to go from one thing to another quite quickly. But like I said, tonight has been different.

Now I just pray that I can keep my nose in the books over the next few days, because the more time I seem to spend in the Word, the better I end up feeling.

Don't Call it a Comeback

As another week moves along and the days pile up, I'm feeling like I never went on that two year plus hiatus from HIVE. I have some regrets because I was on this platform for five years straight without missing a day. I felt at home here.

Why did I quit? Yes, let's face it; I did.

It wasn't because of the value of HIVE not increasing to the levels that we are always hoping for, but the vibe was shifting. Being on LEO kind of changed things. It was my fault. I never wanted to go all in on LEO because I always felt like a fish out of water there.

Then things changed because they added threads and I was all in at that point then all the DEX stuff came into play and all that stuff just went over my head. With all that said, @jongolson and Taskmaster were there and that was good enough for me.

I come back and Taskmaster is no longer on HIVE, but thankfully Jongo is although he is no longer over at LEO so I guess that I don't feel so bad I gave up lol.

I powered down left and right.

BUT I did leave a little powered up HIVE. It was almost like real deep in my gut I knew I would be back.

Some of the reasons I love it here is the freedoms we have and I won't lie I'm still on X and other social media platforms but none of them really don't feel like home.

I came back with less expectations on the monetary side and more about rebuilding my place in some of the communities on the platform but I DO NOT have intentions of going all in on so many, like I did during those five years.

I spend most of my time on @snapie but I do pass by @hivesuite.app and I'm starting to enjoy @sportsblock - these three apps are what I would have loved having access during those five years I was here.

I love watching sports so being able to have these apps to post about it and do snap-casts is making me so happy I came back. Not to mention Jongo is back more than towards the end before I left. Jongo made some moves he had to make for his family and himself so he wasn't around when I stepped away.

I was gutted when I found out Task wasn't here any longer.

For those who don't know, Jon Olson is the reason I joined HIVE and way back in the day I was a member of his programs in the online marketing world so I already had a trust factor with him and I continued to follow him on X and Facebook regardless if I was no longer active where ever he was at.

As far as HIVE power and all that good stuff, I am basically starting from scratch but hey I do have over 2000 HP. Back when I joined HIVE initially I started with zero at least I came back with some and I've added the last few weeks.

Goals? Just taking it a day at a time. Reaching 5000 would be my first target.

When I was debating on what I'm going to do to set myself up for some future moves as my wife and I prepare to relocate to Tennessee in a few years and the fact that I've reach age 60 I want to be viable in the workforce but also make some extra scratch on the side, I had the following interaction with some guidance based on my future and here is part of that:

"Now Hive — I'm not going to pretend I know that world like you do. Five years there, people you care about, and you went back after two years away — that's home, not just a platform. I respect that. But here's the honest question, and I think you already feel it: is Hive the income plan for Tennessee, or is it home — with the income plan still to be written? With the token price where it is, those are two very different things, and it's okay if the answer is "it's home."

Because the Tennessee goal still needs an engine, and Data Annotation is still sitting there — the most direct "judged on output, not age" money of everything we've looked at. It doesn't have to compete with Hive. Home and income are allowed to be two different places.

So — what do you want Hive to be?

I answered "HOME"

"Good. That's a clear answer, and it settles a lot.

Hive is home — you go there for your people, no pressure for it to pay the bills."

In a nutshell my friends, in a nutshell.

Glad I'm back home.

Dogs Are A Man's....Best Friend?

Still on the road....

I miss my family. It's super hard being away for this long but I'm heading back west now.

And there's someone else I miss...Who is family, but a little fury :)

I had some time going through some old pictures of my dogs and thought I would share them tonight....

First pic, don't worry....They are best friends. The Rottie didn't eat the Yorkie lol

Next picture is my son taking the pup for a walk in the fall a few years ago.

Third picture, is the greatest dog breed on earth. And yes I'm biased....

The next two pics are from my older dogs that aren't with us anymore.

I had three at one time, and they've all passed away. But great memories with man's best friend!

Today I had an interesting experience at work...

A lady came into the store and was looking for a certain book. I let her know, I had one copy but because space is limited I only carry multiple copies if they are ordered.

Now she wasn't steaming mad or anything. But she was obviously quite frustrated that I didn't have more copies of the book she was looking for. And she kind of took that frustration out on me...

I'm in a very unique position because I reflect my church, so if I start 'fighting' with customers, that wouldn't be very Christlike at all. Oh boy, it's hard some times to shut my mouth lol

So after the morning was done, I met a trucking buddy of mine for some lunch and I brought the interaction up.

On one side of the coin, I get the frustration. You have your heart set on something, and you get 'let down'.

But my friend and I noticed something else....There was a lack of genuine joy in the interaction I had.

I heard a quote years ago and it went like this....Christians should be the happiest people on the planet. And I couldn't agree more. We literally have the best news on planet earth and the greatest hope for eternity in heaven. Yet most of us, seem to be depressed, angry, sad, and frustrated by the smallest of things.

Guilty as charged!

I know I get frustrated way too quickly. Read up lol I literally have to pray to God to keep a guard over my lips at times. So please note, this isn't me making fun or pointing the finger at the lady that seemed to be 'joy-less' this morning.

But this gave me a great opportunity to go over some Scripture on that blessed hope that we have....We should be filled with joy every single minute of the day. And reflect that to all we engage with.

Easier said than done lol

Here's a verse that is not only one to remember, it's actually a verse that I give to my kids to memorize. Always! Rejoice in the Lord! Wise advice from the Apostle Paul!

I love this verse! Let God's hope FILL you with all joy and peace. This is strong comfort for everyone that focuses on heaven above.

Just a few verses but my goodness, there is so much to comfort us. We just need to dig and dive into the Word and see that joy should be something oozing from us. If we can live with a character filled with joy, think of the 'advertisement' that does for our faith?

Be a product of your product after all....Look at me trying to add some marketing and sales into this stuff lol

Anyways, I hope that joy, peace and hope fills your heart. And that people you engage with can see that too!
