Since last Saturday, I mentioned the two places you can quickly observe while driving on the A1 highway, and one of them was Rapa Rosie (EN: The Red Ravine). I thought I should write about this place again, even though I have already written about it before.

The simple 'excuse' for doing it is that it represents one of the few places in Romania that I feel like I could visit 100 times before and still want to return for more.

It might be the unique rock formations that could easily fool anyone into thinking I was somewhere in America exploring the Grand Canyon, or that it still represents a place that is not very well known by a lot of people, but no matter when you visit it, you'll still enjoy a lot of silence and moments close to nature.

Either way, a few months ago, along with my sister and some friends, we decided to have a spontaneous trip on a Saturday morning, having more stops along the way.

While all of us except one person had not seen Rapa Rosie before, it seemed like a good excuse for all of us to stop by once again, so he could explore it as well. Funny thing is that I was actually looking for another excuse so I could make my way towards this place once again.

Little did I know that the way to it was damaged heavily during the storms and rains Romania's been part of at the beginning of the year, so what we thought it was going to be a chill drive with an unreal beauty in front of us, has quickly turned into a driving exam for me while trying to arrive to the destination without remaining stuck with the car in a large crater formed in the ground by flooding.

Happily, no bad things happened, and pretty soon we arrived in a place that has earned the unofficial name of Romania's Grand Canyon.

Actually, there were quite a few caravans around this place, most of them had foreign license plates which brought a big smile to my face, thinking that when I first visited Rapa Rosie I did not find anyone else on the way. So it turns out that it's slowly but surely starting to gain the attention of foreign tourists as well.

In both the other two visits I had at Rapa Rosie, I made my way through the little forest that can be found at the foothills of the mountains, then followed all the way up to the interesting rock formations, the path still being visible in my pictures.

That is, actually, a great way to get closer to the stones and even touch them to analyse their interesting structure. But the best way to observe everything is from the hill facing it, because it offers a complete view of nature's beauty, which, otherwise, will make it feel incomplete if seen too closely.

Along with the natural beauty that I doubt there would be anyone who wouldn’t like it, the Red Ravine catches a lot of attention after rainy periods because the rock formations are made of red clay, and they create a whole new landscape where bloody tiny rivers are formed.

Obviously, the whole process is easy to be understood since the sediments of the rocks are mostly red, and the water washes tiny parts of it that also make the water get a reddish colour, but for those of you who enjoy legends, keep in mind that the place is full of such stories.

This is something I always appreciate on my solo hikes: running into other people—even if it’s just one person or a couple of pairs along the entire route—brings me peace of mind. It makes me feel like I’m on the right path and, at the same time, reassures me that I’m safe. I know that if I ever need help, there’s someone else nearby, even if they’re a stranger.

This post on Worldmappin - This user on Worldmappin

🥈 CAVE DISCOVERY // Exploring the Natural Beauty of a Cave I Accidentally Found Along the Road by @riyat

In front of the cave, there was a building that looked like a fairly large hut. The highlight is the historic Sistine Chapel, the very place where cardinals gather to elect a new Pope for the Catholic Church, but, to my surprise, before reaching it, you can spend hours wandering through various halls filled with frescoes. It makes you reflect on the countless hours these artists must have spent lying near the ceilings or against the walls, working with extreme care to avoid any mistakes that could ruin the painstaking process of painting or creating art on wet plaster or lime.

This post on Worldmappin - This user on Worldmappin

Honorable Mentions

River, Coimbra, Portugal by @pardinus

River, Aceh, Indonesia by @alexwilliam

Park, Quetta, Pakistan by @farahhive

Beach, Caracas, Venezuela by @ramisey

Castle, Caracas, Venezuela by @saavedraa

Support WorldMappin and join the Worldmappin community
The more support we get, the more we can give back!

Hey, hey! Sup everyone?

Personally, I couldn't wait for one more week to pass so I could return with another update on the bookshop I have created in Lyon, France, as this game is full of surprises and upgrades that unlock at almost every new level, which makes things so much fun and avoids becoming repetitive too quickly!

https://youtu.be/aEmlwwwIMgg?si=e4c6nO3AiPXgVKO7

One of the major upgrades was hiring an employee whom I could ask to either be a cashier or handle the stock, such as making sure there is never going to remain an empty shelf.

Actually, I had a bit of doubt about whether it's too early to take this step or not, because although this employee will quickly prove how useful it can be, it also comes with daily new taxes to pay, along with rent and electricity.

So although I hated math as a kid, this time I had to be very careful and do a little analysis on the average earnings at the end of each day, to avoid not being able to pay the employee.

Happily, that was never the case, and that's why I also have no idea what would happen if you don't have enough money to pay him, but I guess after a couple of warnings you could end up losing him, which would be fair enough if you ask me.

Another upgrade I've made, which is not necessarily bringing any contribution to the overall bookshop but more to my guilty pleasure, was adopting a cat.

It was hard to pick, because there are more cats you can adopt in-game, but each of them comes with extra costs, so since I was still at the very beginning with the game, I decided to adopt just one, although I would have loved to get them all, lol.

Anyway, I know I already mentioned how much I enjoy being a cashier in this kind of games, but you'll notice that I've been quite active on the restocking part in this gameplay, and that's because I decided to reorganise everything and have an entire cabin with all 4 shelves filled with the same book.

Sadly, the employee won't fill the shelves with new books I get if I don't set up their selling price first and put at least one book on one or more shelves so he knows where to drop them and not add them randomly on other shelves they don't belong to.

So for this reason especially, I decided I would leave the employee to handle the easier part, but that's a thing that is going to change soon.

Did you play Bookshop Simulator before?

Gameplay first posted on my YouTube Channel: Doi Lupi

[Esp - Eng] by @jcalvoparapar

Havana is a rainbow of tones and contrasts, an endless variety waiting to be discovered by those who explore its streets with patience and an eye for detail. For the architect, it becomes a masterclass in history, where a wide array of styles and eras still coexist even amid the ruins. For the traveler drawn to the intensity of street life, it offers expressions of everyday existence that can only be found in its neighborhoods, tenement courtyards, suburbs, alleyways, and plazas. For those seeking tranquility within such a vibrant and bustling city, there are spaces as well, a little harder to find, yet they reveal themselves in time. For those in search of stories, they will find them by the thousands. Havana opens itself to everyone like a fan unfolding, offering its "fresh breeze" and its spirit to all who come near.

This post on Worldmappin - This user on Worldmappin

🥈 Paseo por el Malecón de Cumaná : Un lugar ideal para visitar en familia [Esp-Eng] by @virgilio07

Additionally, there is an observation deck located behind the letters, providing a perfect vantage point to take in the stunning seascape, particularly at sunset. The deck is decorated with yellow and blue stripes, and from this spot, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the beach, the walking path, the outdoor gym, and the bicycle rental station. To ensure the safety of those walking, blue walls separate the path from the national highway.
During my rides on the A1 highway to various destinations, my attention was always distracted by two natural beauties that can be observed from a distance, one of them being The Red Ravine, which I have visited already a couple of times, but also Măgura Uroiului, which is the subject of today's post.

The latest is actually less 'in your face' because the single thing that catches your attention is a very tall and solitary stone wall in the middle of a valley.

But that was enough for me to quickly look at the map and check if it's a tourist attraction or if it has a name. However, while the place can be easily reached by car at any time of the year, somewhere in July it's worth visiting the most, just because some volunteers organise a Dacian camp where people are dressed accordingly and present all kinds of themed shows and activities people had centuries ago.

That was also the preferred time when I would have loved to finally stop by and discover it, but as a person who never owned a car until recently and had to constantly wait for visits from either friends or family to have trips around, I missed all the chances until 2026.

So once the thing with the car finally changed, it turned out not to be the only change because the organisers of the festival did not post any news since December, so I was almost convinced that the festival was not going to take place anymore. However, I still wanted to visit the place, which you'll soon learn why it's so special, so I made my way towards it on a spontaneous trip taken over a weekend on the way to a completely different destination.

![Photo_1783418103532.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/gabrielatravels/243WTVNE727ArdK1ZEZUJPjKN7gCmECcpM7Abw2JJFYdzCJmrjh4QFabU7LRjp4fUSZPb.jpg)

Along with the stone wall that already catches a lot of attention, there is another detail that makes everything so much more entertaining to check out, which can only be observed once you approach Măgura Uroiului, and that is the nicely carved stone placed at the foothills of the mountains.

This stone is not only that is suggestive for the DacFest that is held yearly on these lands, but it also marks the observation point that was used by Dacians many years ago, as well as keeping the legends alive regarding the hidden treasures dug deep into the little mountain that can be observed in the distance.

And speaking of the solitary mountain that does a great job of making people curious, keep in mind that it hasn’t always been there, as in fact it resulted from volcanic activity which was quite intense millions of years ago.

Sadly, we couldn't find any informative panel nearby to discover the story that I personally find so interesting, so we had to gather all the information from the internet and compare what we've read with what we had in front of us. But even so, I think it's a place that should be more promoted because even if it's not a fortress or a castle with which people are most familiar when it comes to historical sites, it still shelters a lot of interesting stories which might be even more valuable than some of these you would find out there.

For example, even if Măgura Uroiului is not too popular amongst tourists, it does play an important role when it comes to archaeologists that often make their way towards these lands after constantly finding all kinds of objects dating back to the Bronze Age, Dacian, and medieval periods.

Some of the things discovered were a prehistoric settlement and several Roman structures, a silver or bronze metal applique, the wall of an ancient structure, Roman monuments, the remains of a Roman road and a Roman cremation necropolis, a Celtic bracelet, seven miniature figurines depicting long-extinct animal species, as well as a Roman tomb.

Hey, hey!

It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another gameplay shared from this end!

I am not sure what made me pick this day for my gaming content, but as a person who loves being organised and keeping specific days for specific posts, I decided I'd dedicate Tuesdays to gaming content, just like I've been dedicating Saturdays to my travel posts for 7+ years now!

So, just like I mentioned in my previous post, I am going to make things a bit different around here and return with gameplays from more Simulator games which is one of my most played style of games right now.

The single exception to the rule is going to be from the video game I am also posting today, which is Bookshop Simulator, because I ended up playing this game for a long while and also recorded my progress from day 0. But I am still going to drop gameplay videos from other Simulator games every once in a while, as I initially planned.

https://youtu.be/v1nIgklSQJ4?si=StyZvh4rHU0fY-2p

For this very first gameplay from Bookshop Simulator, I ended up playing a bit over one hour, so there is plenty of time to do some consistent upgrades to my first bookstore purchased in Lyon, France.

This is, actually, a game for which I downloaded the demo version at the same time I got the demo for Retro Rewind, but where the progress was not saved, so once I got the paid version of the game, I had to start everything from scratch.

But as a person who loves reading and pretty much anything bookish, I already knew that I was going to spend dozens of hours in this game and that I could easily create content from it at the same time.

Anyways, being my first hour spent in the game, I only got to buy some book licenses, shelves and create my character while waiting for the first clients and trying to guess the fairest price I could set for the books to earn profit and be able to do more upgrades soon.

The funny thing is that although I got the license for some books, they are not the real ones because all book titles were modified, so instead of Harry Potter books, you'll see them named Harry Fotter, for example, lol.

Along with playing a little game to guess the actual books that stay behind each title the game modified, there is also something very satisfying about constantly redecorating the bookshop or serving the clients because sitting behind the desk, scanning all the purchased products and then returning with the change, always represented a guilty pleasure for me.

I am not sure what causes it, but I always loved this activity in every simulator game that included one of these machines or ways to serve the clients, despite the thing that they are slightly different from one game to another.

One hour later, after activities of all kinds, this is how the store looks, and I think it's already easy to see how much it has evolved compared to how everything looked at the beginning of the video.

Nevertheless, there is still plenty to do, such as expanding the shop, getting a storage room, or even bringing new products, but we'll uncover everything one by one in the upcoming gameplays.

Did you play Bookshop Simulator before?

Angeiras sits in the parish of Lavra, part of the municipality of Matosinhos, and it holds a Blue Flag, which tells you the water quality here is taken seriously even though the beach itself still looks refreshingly untamed. In the distance I could just make out another walker and their dog, two tiny shapes on a very big stretch of sand.

This post on Worldmappin - This user on Worldmappin

🥉 Exploring Sky Ranch Baguio, A Colorful Amusement Park by @esciisc

Of course, we can’t miss the park’s iconic Ferris wheel!
On the list of some guilty pleasures I have while exploring the surroundings, there are the water towers that have always fascinated me. I am not sure why, as in fact they all had their main purpose to only store water for the city/villages nearby, just as their name suggests, but they always looked so cool and some of them also offered a great view over the city/villages.

Some of these look quite boring and don't really catch the attention in any way, but I'd lie by saying that I wasn't blessed to see some really cool ones during my trips in Romania, which were definitely not a few.

So, with no further introduction, today's travel post is about the water tower from Cugir, Romania.

This water tower not only looked absolutely fantastic for the current times since it was initially raised in 1903, but also enjoyed some massive restoration around 2011 when it was also declared the main monument of the city of Cugir, which aimed to attract more tourists to its territory.

While most of the water towers are meant to take care of the city/village they are part of, keep in mind that the one from Cugir had a whole different purpose, as it was meant to produce energy that was then used to illuminate and electrify several of the Wasserliner factory's installations that had previously been powered by water or steam.

It was actually my first time visiting a water tower that was not fully dedicated to the locals, but to an iron factory. The name of the factory is also not too popular for what Romanians are used to, but back then, these lands were mainly occupied by Czechs, Austrians, Hungarians and Italians.

![Photo_1783417513259.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/gabrielatravels/23rB9nhHBn2QMeiUXzaGhirFKfor2944fgzm3r3AHbEw3nvzhy4UfVTvkGjd7cxKMpPF7.jpg)

![Photo_1783417516294.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/gabrielatravels/2466phYRtzcx4nrNhJD46wTXBVgPKLh7iahYa7eEdKcMs16hKcNUSYnim9Y1sJbSp4Ta8.jpg)

The total height of the water tower is 25 meters, and the renovations brought to it respected the way it looked when it was initially built.

Sadly, there must have been something happening during this process, because the actual renovations took place only on the surface, while the interior, which we will discover later on, is only ruins, with the informative panels completely missing as well.

I actually found some online news written back in 2011 when this tower was under renovation that the locals donated during the process of renovation because they truly wanted to see it back in shape and added as a destination by more tourists out there, there also being the mention to include it on the UNESCO list. Sadly, this never happened, and while it looks pretty fascinating from the outside, things are not the same when it comes to the inside or wanting to read some information on the panels that were supposed to tell its story.

Additionally, even if the path to it looks pretty clean, once you approach the water tower and want to surround it for a proper exploration, you will quickly observe how nature slowly re-claims it, because there are plenty of proofs that no one was recently here to cut down the grass or keep away the trees from windows or a secret passage that I barely spotted.
