[Movie] Animals (2026)

Last night I watched Animals, which is kind of new on Netflix, as it was released on the 9th of this month. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a new release hunter, I'm ok with older movies and series, but as I was scrolling through the offer, I saw Ben Affleck's name on the list and decided to give it a try. His name is a respected one in the industry, so the name alone is a guarantee already, but after watching the movie, I might say I'm not sure anymore. Now that I'm looking at the data available on IMDb I see Ben Affleck is the director, so the situation is even worse, but let's get into it.

As I said above, I knew nothing about the movie, the only reason I watched it was Ben Affleck, but he was not the only big name. Pretty soon Gillian Anderson showed up, who's not as famous as Ben Affleck, but she's still respected in the industry. I used to like her back when she played agent Scully in The X-files, but she has changed a lot since then and kind of went in a direction I don't like. Regardless, when I saw her, I said the movie must be good. The other surprise in the cast was Kerry Washington, who I know from Scandal.

When the son of an L.A. Mayoral Candidate is kidnapped, he and his wife have a few hours to come up with the ransom payment. With most of their money spent on his political campaign, they have to get their hands dirty and exposing a side of their lives they never intended to see the light of day.

The storyline is not unique, we have seem kidnapping movies several, but this is a bit different from the others.

Mark Kimball (Ben Affleck) an aspiring politician, doing everything he can to climb the political ladder, is facing a situation no parent want to find themselves in. His son is kidnapped and the ransom money the kidnapper asked for, had to be arranged somehow as he invested all they had in his campaign. There's always someone who has that kind of money but as nothing comes for free in life, this help came with some strings attached.

What was interesting here was the options they were considering. In most, or all the kidnapping cases there are two options: you either pay, or you don't, but they have a third option as well.

As it happens in these cases, an investigation starts, to see who could be behind this brutal act and as there are no saints on this planet, skeletons start falling out of each closet.

The script is focusing quite a lot on the moral side of the story, so if you're expecting an action movie, this is not one. They are discussing quite a lot of issues, sometimes calmly, sometimes angrily as stress is building up as situation spares no one.

The ending was quite surprising but I loved it. I think it sets this movie apart from the pack, but even with such an ending, it was really bad for several reasons and not even the big names could save it.

First of all, for me it seemed very slow-paced and dragged out. A bit more dynamic could have added to its value. It seems like this was Ben Affleck's big occasion to show off with his Spanish. I have nothing against that, I appreciate people who take the effort to learn another language, that was fine, but his acting ... I've never seen him acting this badly. He is a very talented actor, we've seen plenty of proof in this regard, but he was really bad in this role.

After some digging, I found out he was the director and this is not all.

Matt Damon was originally cast in the lead role with Ben Affleck directing. However, Damon dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with his movie The Odyssey (2026), and Affleck took on the lead role himself.

Sooooo, basically he gave himself the role :)

Parade At Contactus

Exactly one week ago, I made my usual round and visited three exhibitions. One I posted about it right after the tour and today I'd like to show you some artworks from the other gallery.

It was the Painting Salon 2026 called Contactus, an exhibition organized annually for artist from the country and abroad as well. This edition was the third as the first one was held in 2024.

The beauty of these exhibitions is that the artist get the theme and then send whatever artwork matches it. This is how you get a nice and colorful mix of artworks when you visit.

Andrea Cabuz - Prayers

The minute I spotted the painting, had the impression I have seen it before. The detail that reminded me of it was the colorful flags and the mountains in the background, but it's possible I am mistaken it with another one. Anyway, it reminds me of those peaks that pilgrims are visiting and have these flags.

Anyway, I like the painting, although it's a bit too dark and carry a very serious message for me to want to see it on my wall each day, but appreciate it as artwork, a lot.

Crina Stanescu - Metamorphosis

Those red spots seemed like butterflies, which would have explained the title, but I think they still are maybe abstract ones. The lace like middle section could be the pod, or cocoon. I'm not a spiritual person, so someone else who believes is a lot of things I don't, may see a lot on this canvas :)

Hunor Budai - Quietly

So far this canvas seemed to win the game for me. Undoubtedly it was mysterious enough to capture anyone's attention. The upper part looked like those scenes in old English movies, where old castles mostly out of use, full of spiderweb are featured with one or two inhabitants, during torrential rain and thunderstorm. The light is interesting here. The artist chose to use greenish blue and a yellowish light on top. Very good choice, but what kind of puzzles me is the water and what appears to be a lamb in it.

This painting could very well be the cover of a book or a scene in a movie.

Ágnes Forró – Pilgrimage

Colorful, yes, but a bit too geometric and abstract for me. Looks good though. I love the texture.

At first glance, it looks like a colorful chaos, which most likely is indeed, but at a closer look, I can spot a head of bull and lower half a head of a cow (or whatever animal it is).

Erzsébet Fruzsina Siklódi - The Aesthetics of Concrete Transparency

Here, both the theme and the title knocked me off my feet, so to speak. Architecture on canvas is not rare, but this structure, although really lovely executed on canvas, looked strange. Interesting choice, as the colors are concerned. In photography, so many times we choose monochrome, to shift the focus on shapes. The artist kind of did the same when opting for these grayish blue colors. Would not want it on my wall, but I like it a lot.

The Fair Of The Stuffed Cabbage Festival

Today I invite you to join me and see the market I visited in September, five weeks ago, that was organized as a joint event with the stuffed cabbage festival.

Whenever there's a festival, there's a fair too, which is a very good occasion for local artisans to display their products and also make some money, as well as for visitors to buy some souvenirs.

These fairs are a lot of fun, but not harmless though, if you can't control your urge to buy something (or many things), you end up burning a hole in your pocket. Anyway, let's see what they had to offer visitors.

Kürtőskalács, or horn cake, or chimney cake is a traditional food and a must at every fair. The problem is the price as 30 RON is one of the highest and the reason why you don't see any buyers. Those spiraled fried potatoes are not as old as the traditional kürtőskalács, but are just as expensive as the kürtőskalács. 10 RON for a fried potato, that you can buy for a few pennies raw is a ripoff.

These vendors made a bit more effort, at the same and higher price, but not many were interested in buying.

Artisan cheese always works as a magnet, till you see the price tag. However, every once in awhile, it's ok to test a new one. I didn't buy any though.

This was where the fun began, but only for the eye and the lens of my camera. These sweets looked good, but not healthy at all, so it's better if we move on.

And this was where the fun began for the eye, the lens and the for taste buds, but not mine. I live artisan chocolate and would have bought the whole table, but ... well, yes, there's always a but. I'd rather make my own one day.

They had sugar free, gluten free chocolate and with sugar as well. The price? Better not ask.

More sweets, more colorants and chemicals :)

I love these artisan brandies, but just to look at them as I rarely drink alcohol and when I do, I go for something lighter. These are too strong, but look good and a good present for someone who can appreciate them.

This was where I needed all my willpower, to take a shot and move on. Those mugs were calling my name, but honestly, to buy one more and have 15, and pay 3 times where a normal mug costs ... naah. But loved them a lot.

Wooden items and toys are very popular again and parents who can afford them are making the right choice. Durability, health are just two reasons why you should choose them. Imagine these can be passed down to generations, not like the plastic ones, that break the next day. These can be fixed as well, in case some kids are more inventive and have more energy than planned.

In Loving Memory of Our Dear Lizelle ❤️

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating news that our dear @lizelle, founder of the Silver Bloggers community, has passed away following her battle with cancer.

For so many of us here on Hive, Lizelle was much more than the founder of a community. She was a dear friend, and someone whose kindness and warmth helped bring people together from all corners of the world.

Silver Bloggers was something very special to Lizzie. Through her vision and dedication, she created a real community where friendships could flourish, stories could be shared, and members could enjoy the simple pleasures of life together. Whether that meant sharing the odd sandwich or two, reminiscing about wonderful memories, or simply enjoying each other's company.

Her loss will be felt deeply throughout our community and all over Hive.

Many of you will remember our previous update on our dear Lizelle, when we shared news of her health and the challenges she was facing.

Sadly, today we have to share the news we had all hoped would never come.

A Message from Lizelle's Son, Dean

Dean has kindly asked us to share the following message with her friends and the wider Silver Bloggers community.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news that my mom lost her battle with cancer.

Fortunately, her pain did not last very long, and as much as we wish she could still be here with us, we take comfort in knowing that she is now free from pain and suffering.

She can finally rest in peace and be reunited with my Dad, whom she missed so very much.

She was so deeply loved and had the gentlest soul.

This is absolutely heartbreaking for all of us, but I hope we can find comfort in cherishing the beautiful memories we have of her.

A Lasting Legacy

There are some people who leave a lasting impression on our lives, even when we have never had the opportunity to meet them in person.

Lizelle was one of those people.

Through her words, her friendship and her dedication to Silver Bloggers, she touched the lives of so many. She helped build not simply a Hive community, but a family of friends from all over the world who genuinely care about one another.

And that is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.

While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the life of a remarkable lady whose kindness and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Dean, the entire family, and everyone who loved Lizelle.

We hope they can take some comfort in knowing just how much she meant to so many people across the world.

Autumn Photo Shoot

Yesterday I had to go to the locker and on my way there, I had to pass one of the most beautiful places of the area. No matter what kind of season it is, this place is always beautiful. Winter is good for snowy branches and stairs, spring is special because nature is just waking up, summer is welcomed as the trees can offer you the shade and cool temperatures you need while climbing the stairs and autumn, well, autumn is the best for the colorful experience you may not have elsewhere.

There are three seasons when I go out photo hunting, which are winter, spring and autumn and the latter is my utmost favorite for the obvious reasons. October is perfect for a nice photo shoot, but you need to check when is the right time, if you want the leaves at a certain color and place, like on the trees or on the ground.

This was the scene that first caught my eye. The bike lane covered with leaves. It may be usual for you, to see roads, bike lanes or sidewalks fully covered with leaves, but not here. Cleaners come and sweep it as soon as possible and photo hunters like me are left without a good chance to take photos.

The truth is, there are many lovely places, but you're never going to get the perfect scene, so you have to work it out, find an angle to capture only what you want. There's a bike station on the left, that has been calling my name for a proper photo shoot, so yesterday I took some shots, but need to go back for more. The bin on the other hand is a disturbing element on the photo, but can't remove it.

This is what I was looking for and got it. It's not perfect as the seats are all over the place and I could not go adjust them to the same height, but it doesn't bother me as this photo was taken for fun and don't plan to participate in any competition with it. But I love it. The colorful bike on one side and the leaves on the other is just lovely.

The ideal scenario here would have been the walkway and the stairs covered by leaves, but that's not going to happen as cleaners come and clean it up.

Another thing I like to do is to take photos of leaves on ledges, gates and stones. This was a perfect place and I have more photos ready, even funny ones, but it looks like my daily allowance is up and I am left with 1MB till it is recharging.

I need to look into it and see what I can do, because as a photo addict, it is affecting me. One solution would be resizing the photos, but as all this is about quality, I'm not going to compromise on that. So I guess the rest of the photos are going to be posted another time. No cover photo either this time.

$HIVE, $BTC & ETH/BTC Technical Analysis - 18.10.2026

Today I sat down to my desk, restarted my laptop, opened Tradingview, had a look at the $HIVE chart and asked myself if I want to do the analysis 😬 I haven't checked the chart since last week but I have seen my stake's USD value shrinking quite a bit, which can only indicate one thing. Anyway, it's part of the game when you're holding crypto.

On the monthly time frame, price is way below the monthly open and below the 200 SMA as well, which is not unexpected, if we look at the crypto market as a whole. We'll see when the monthly candle closes.

On the weekly time frame, after spending three weeks above the 200 SMA, it looks like this week price is going to close below it. There's a possibility for price to retest the weekly order block (OB) at $0.044. The interesting thing on this time frame is that the candle has no wicks on either side. It looks like price sold off starting from the open. Anyway, levels to watch are the OB and $0.0663 on the upside, if we get a reversal and enough momentum to reach it, by some miracle.

On the daily time frame, price lost the 200 SMA on Monday, closed below mid-range on Thursday and is retesting the bullish gap and 0.618 as we speak. This is a crucial level to hold, so a bounce here, or from inside the gap, after the gap has been rebalanced would be the ideal scenario.

Regaining mid-range, after which the 200 SMA as support is crucial, if we want bullish continuation on this time frame.

On the h4 time frame, price is retesting the order block and the 0.618 level. It is possible for price to spend some time in this area but it's a crucial level to hold.

If there's more weakness in the market, we could see $0.0434 retested, or we can get a bounce here and as I said at the previous time frame, reclaim mid-range and turn 200 SMA into support.

Interesting price action on $BTC. Price has already retested the 0.618 level and bounced back to mid-range, which is inside the support/resistance area. Decision time next week, price needs to make a move but I see weakness, so sweeping $79,750 looks likely from where I stand.

Levels to watch are $79,750 on the downside and if it doesn't hold, then the swing low could be next at $74,919, which is another support/resistance area. On the upside, if we get a bounce at some point, I'd keep an eye on $84,332.5, then swing high at $87,383.

Looks like after a long time, is going to close below the 200 SMA. It is approaching the swing low and if we don't get a bounce after sweeping $0.029815, it may reach the support/resistance area, which is crucial level to hold.

When Provided With Evidence ...

We've changed season recently, mornings and evenings are quite cold, so yesterday was the day to take out my autumn clothes, among which, a specific autumn coat, that I haven't used for ages. The first thing I did was try it on, to see how it looks and most importantly how it feels. During the process, it's inevitable not check the pockets and the pockets were not empty. What I found in them shocked me.

This is a topic about a phenomenon that affects everyone, regardless of your financial situation and I've been thinking about it quite a lot lately.

The whole thing started a month ago or so, when during my research on Vinted, came I across a pair of new boots with tags, just like mine and the listing price surprised me quite a lot. My boots are 10 years old or so and still good to wear, but I thought if I could get another pair at a good price, I'd buy them, as I like the brand and model.

What shocked me was the price. I bought mine 10 years or so ago for 235 RON, I will never forget that. They weren't quite cheap, as the boots were made of genuine leather, but they weren't the most expensive either. It's been 10 years since then and you can buy a new pair for 335 RON and the one I came across on Vinted were listed for 125 RON, plus shipping costs. The gap between the two prices can mean a number of things, but that's not important right now, so let's go with the highest, official price of the store.

The difference between the two prices, respectively 235 RON and 335 RON is 40%, which in 10 years doesn't mean much. If I'm clever, and most of the times I am, can buy it next spring on sale at 50% discount and most likely that's what I'm going to do.

If you're thinking that inflation in my country in 10 years is 40%, you are very wrong, It is way more than that and I think I don't even want to know the exact number. The official data you can find online is cooked, I wouldn't trust that and there is evidence everywhere that the number is way bigger.

What shocked me yesterday was a receipt I found in the pocket of my jacket. It was from a sandwich shop from 2019. Yeah, it seems my jacket was sitting in the closet for the past 7 years, undisturbed, unused, but that's a different matter. The receipt was from a sandwich, that costed 13 RON in 2019. That sandwich today costs 34 RON and I bet it weighs only 80% of the one from 2019 as shrinkflation is a real phenomenon. In trading, we would say that's a 2.6X and if I count shrinkflation in, it becomes even more.

This is not an isolated case, you can't blame the shop of being greedy as they are forced to raise price and cut corners wherever they can, to survive and they do. I could mention the price of bread, other food items and continue with energy price, fuel, that has been sky rocketing this year and so on.

What I was thinking is that not everything is getting more expensive at the same rate. Clothing, footwear, bags for example you can still buy at a reasonable price, although rising energy, fuel prices, labor costs are influencing the price quite a lot. What has become more expensive is food in the first place, housing, energy and fuel prices.

For me, this was the first year with AC and was curious to see how much energy I'd consume with it. It was a test and can honestly say, it is not bad at all. If you can find a way to use it wisely and not have it on 24/7 as some do, it's quite manageable. The same goes for heating, which has already started. Yesterday was the first day I turned on heating as night temperatures are close to zero now and this kind of temperature persisting for some time now caused the walls to cool off quite a lot.

Life is getting difficult everywhere in the world. You're the manager of your own finances. There are costs you can control and there are those that you can't influence, which is why you have to increase incomes and manage spending. It's a tough job, that has to be done the best way you can.

If you think of it, prices are rising all the time, unfortunately and we get used to them as there's no other choice. 10% today, 5% next month, 15 in half a year and at some point you lose track of how much it really is. Then you find a receipt in your pocket and think back asking: "how the hell we get from 13 to 34 in 7 years" and this is just an example.

It’s Starting To Be Too Much

Most likely I'm not the only one in this situation, as Hive has a few active users. Not as many as it used to have, but still, there are a few still standing.

There was a time when people were learning English or any other foreign language, to help them communicate with others, read and set them apart from the pack at work for example. Then internet was invented, translation apps appeared and all task requiring the use of another language became easier.

Today we have AI and seems like most of the people have high, academic level of language skills, without speaking a word in another language. They pride themselves in having perfect writing skills and when you turn off the internet or electricity, they are not capable of putting together a half decent sentence on their own, let alone speaking another language.

If you've been here long enough and started early on the legacy chain, you most likely have witnessed the evolution. It started with copy/paste plagiarism, then continued with rephrasing, after which came AI generated contents and what seems to be the norm these days is the use of AI to write comments. They say it's translation as they don't speak English, but when you look at the text and see it's all AI crap, has very little to do with how a normal humans being would comment on a platform like Hive, where there are no language skill requirements.

I've been getting a lot of such AI generated comments and honestly, it is getting annoying. Even though these are posted by humans, it's like bots have invaded the blog.

Now the question is, am I interested in interacting with AI, just to play nice? I think you know the answer. I don't see why I should waste my own free time to reply to AI generated, fake and meaningless comments to people that most likely didn't even read the post. Trust me, there are better ways to spend my time.

There were times when spending time on the platform was a lot of fun. You met a lot of interesting people, learned about their tradition, their habits, connected and made friends with them. It was a totally different life and it was fun. There were a lot of problems back then, life was not a fairy tale, but those were different problems. I'm not expecting life to stay the same, it would be foolish, but what I see now is just disappointing. It feels like the scale is tipping towards what it shouldn't.

This is my 9th years on the platform, counting the time spent on the legacy chain as well and was thinking what my 8+ years would have been using AI to write post and most importantly, to write comments. Imagine the process. You ask AI to write a comment, you don't even read it, or if you do, most likely you don't understand it (or care about it for that matter), just post it, job done, and you move on.

On the long run this leads to learning nothing, knowing no one and just doing this robotic, senseless, useless shite day in day out. Why? What kind of life is that? There are plenty who have been focusing on finding new ways to do wrong things. All that energy channeled into learning something could have taken you far in life, but somehow this is not clear to them.

Having Fun At The Gallery

As I mentioned yesterday, today I visited the new exhibitions to avoid missing them. Lucky me, I was still in time, do today I can show you some new arts photos and share a funny story too as I had part of a very nice and funny surprise.

The first exhibition I visited was a shared exhibition of Kinga Lőrincz and Borostyán Kelemen, called "Boundary-Lines". Two talented ladies with art you've never seen before and the title is not random, there's a reason they chose it.

The mandatory first photo at the entrance, that gives you an idea of what you're going to see. Usually this is the place where I say a silent "wow", that can be literally anything, but I'll let you decide what kind of wow it is for you, so let's see what I brought for you today :)

Abstract art and unfortunately I lack the knowledge, or capability to understand it, so I'm just going to let you enjoy it.

Kinga Lőrincz - Village

This on the other hand is a different matter. I had to have a closer look to see how it was made. First I thought it's a print, but it wasn't, it was painted and in a very nice way. The village is kind of hidden, or minimized inside the pattern. It's not exactly my kind of art, but I love it.

Similar style, different artwork and this is where my suspicions got some confirmation. At the first painting, I thought I'm seeing female body parts. Here I can say the same, but who knows. Seeing something repeatedly doesn't mean it is there.

The work resembles graphics, which is more common than painting and possibly a bit easier, but this is just my thinking.

I took a close-up photo to show you, it's not a print, it's a painting and I can only admire those who are talented enough to create such artworks using only lines. You really need to know the directions you drive those lines towards.

This was the cherry on the cake. A bound body and the snail on top indicates that it has been in this position for some time. It's sad and causes you an unpleasant feeling when you think that there is a person there, but in a figurative sense, this is how life is. In so many occasions you find yourself bound and you don't know how to get out of it.

And now let me show you the fun part.

In the last room, there was this canvas on the wall, with the painting accessories next to it. At first I thought they recreated a painter's workshop.

Then I thought it would be a fantastic idea, to set up such a workshop with a clean canvas in one of the exhibitions and let visitors paint whatever they want and then see how the canvas looks after 3 weeks, when the exhibition ends.

Then I asked the curator lady what this thing is and ... can you guess what her answer was? Exactly the idea I mentioned above 😂. She told me I can paint something on it if I want, so I did 🤣.

As you know, I have no talent, but I wanted to contribute to this marvelous artwork, so I looked for a piece of canvas where I can paint something and the bird looked suitable.

Cocktail Time Again

It's been ages since my last cocktail time, as I've been posting about all kinds of topics lately. It's not a complain as change and variety is always good, I could not post about the same things for long, but time is of the essence in a certain way.

The truth is, I've been away for almost 10 days and have missed a set of exhibitions I believe, so tomorrow most likely I'm going to pay a visit to my favorite galleries, to see what's new and learn about what I have missed. Till then, I still have a lot of photos that have not been posted yet, so I thought I'd select a few and make a cocktail, to make it more interesting.

Let's start with a painting of Simion Moldovan, a very talented artist I had the chance to meet in person this year in March. The artist has a very particular style and most of his paintings put you to the test, making you look at them and wonder what the artist was thinking. Will you ever be able to figure out what he meant? Highly doubt it, but it's a fun game and a practice too as you need to examine each canvas and see all the details, then put together what you see.

In my previous paragraph, I avoided the word painter and called Simion Moldovan an artist, because he's not just a painter.

The sculpture above is his creation as well and it is a very interesting one, out of the ordinary I'd say, by any standards. There was no title listed to any of the artworks and now I regret not asking him about the thoughts behind this head with so many eyes, but I bet each of us can find an explanation, or a story about this unusual head. It may look strange, but it takes a lot of talent and a wealthy imagination to create such artwork.

Petre Caprita - The Eternal Gate

For me this is an artwork with religious meaning, but not as much as for those who believe in afterlife. I don't believe in afterlife, for me life is ending when you close your eyes for the last time, so I am looking at it exclusively from artistic point of view. Now, I understand the gate, but don't understand the numbers, or the crack on top ...

Abigél Nagy - Harmony Statues - Dance

Trust me when I say that this type of sculpture is not very common. I wish I knew how it's done as it's enamelled, but I love the smooth surface and the round shapes.

Sunday Program

I'm not sure what this means exactly, but I love this type or paintings, that are made of several pieces, or divided. This is an interesting watercolor.

These were the work of two artists. The bigger, wooden sculpture was made by Anita Hinch and it is called Tulip. The three pots were made by Abigél Nagy and are called Destruction.

The tulip is an interesting one, especially because of the color of the wood and also because you can see the texture, or the rings of the wood.

The other ones are also interesting, especially when you know the name of the "artworks". You can see the destruction on them.

Martinas Cristian - Hill of Lövéte

This is an epic photo, no matter how you look at it. The rule of third, the framing, the fog and those bushes and trees in the back, just perfect.
