‎Due to how easy it is to connect to the masses and interact, internet has gained lot of traction most especially social media. Due to its unique abilities, people who are in need of assistance use it to seek help from others. Normally, there is nothing wrong about seeking help online but a lot has changed, we now have scammers who take advantage of people's innocence. This has made lot of people reluctant about the way they respond to online donations.

‎I'm quite aware of how paranoid I can be sometimes, which seems like the only defense mechanism I have in place to prevent me from being cheated. I'm the kind of person that doesn't trust any form of donations both offline and online because it is just almost impossible to know for sure if whatever funds I'm donating, will be used for the exact purpose of it. But I was lectured on this sometime ago and it changed the way I perceive the concept of crowdfunding.

‎There was a time we were asked to donate some of our unused items to the church, it took a while before my dad could convince me to give up mine. He knew I respect anything Godly and I'm of great knowledge of the word of God but it seems my interpretation of somethings was not appropriate. I remember the day he asked me a very simple question but it sounds so complex, remember I was still a teenager. He asked me, why do you choose to be donate to people? I remember rolling my eyes for awhile before coming up with something.

‎It sounds like a very simple question, though I knew asking me such question means he was getting at something. So I deliberated for awhile so that I wouldn't end up giving him an answer that would grant him the advantage of using my own word against me. So I said, it is because it is the right thing to do as a human and an obligation for us as a Christian. He laughed, then he replied, if that is all the reason why you need to be kind, why then do you care so much about who the receiver of your donation is.

‎He explained further, he said if you find out that a beggar you gave your money to is not actually a beggar, what will you do next? will you arrest the beggar or try to take your money back? I was really confused but at that moment I get what he was getting at. The reason why I find it difficult to give donations to religious organisations, online platforms was because I didn't trust the appointed bodies to use the money for what is meant for, which is why I chose to give it to the needy myself since I can verify with my own eyes that they are actually the needy because I don't want my donations to end up fattening the wallet of a greedy person

‎At that moment my dad made me understand that, being kind is enough role to play. The moment you donate something for a cause, you already played your own part as a human and if the person taking the donation choose not to do what is necessary with the donation being collected, then let God decide the person's punishment because the more we try to investigate where our donations are going - the more it contradicts our purpose for the donation.

‎I mean we have to ask ourselves, why did you donate in the first place? is it to gain recognition or you are just being kind. If the former of the two aforementioned is right, then you already played your part. Having to always find out about the depth of things tends over complicate things, I donated something because I care, then why should I have to start worrying about where it is going, is that not too burdensome? If you feel the organisers of a specific donation aren't trustworthy, why donate?

‎I understand the present nature of things, I have witnessed people use donations as a means of extracting money from people, it shows how far gone humanity is. So it is not that I trust any organization or platforms seeking donation, most especially on the internet. I just trust my gut and after the donation, I believe I have played my part. Is there a way to a platform for donation more transparent? there is but remember, even charity organizations and any other trust worthy platforms are also capable of embezzling donated funds, so if doesn't really matter.

‎Amidst all kind of actions taken by humans, either for personal gain or public benefit or both, we have the act of generosity. An act that can come in all sort of ways either monetary or not, to an extent it is considered an expression of the true essence of we humans. I mean what is the point of being human without the ability to show kindness to others.

‎As honourable as the act of charity is, most times it is defined by how genuine the intention of the giver is. We find ourselves in an era where every action performed by a human is directed towards a particular purpose, either politically driven or for the sake popularity or clout chasing.
‎
‎What if I was shown kindness and I later found out it was for clout chasing, will I accept it or feel good about it? To me, analysing the intention or reasons behind an act of charity is just like a misguided focus. I mean I'm quite aware of how funny humans can be sometimes, we are filled with all sort of ways to manipulate situation to our advantage by hiding under the pretense of kindness to win favours.

‎I mean why would a politician choose to buy another political tycoon an expensive car despite knowing the recipient owns hundreds of it? or why would someone who is currently being prosecuted in the court choose to send monetary gifts to the judges? Is that also an act of charity? regardless of whatever intentions he must have the gifts is already a gesture that describes the sender's intention behind the gift. Spelling all this out means I'm aware of the dubious nature of humans.

‎But then, what about scenarios of genuine act of charity? we have also seen cases when some people decides to fund orphanage homes as a show of goodwill, I'm talking of non-governmental organisations and individuals. We see them on the news as they dramatize the presentation of the gifts to the orphans. There is nothing wrong with that, it is probably the media just making the whole presentation news worthy or not. In this case, everyone will probably see it as a show of goodwill since they are not politically involved as far as the members of the public is concerned. We all applaud their goods deeds for those in need.

‎The narrative changes when someone who is politically involved does the same thing, probably donate a large amount of money to orphanage homes or tools to empower the youths. Some people will definitely applaud the person's good deeds but there will always be others who would try as much as possible to change the narrative by adding the fact that the righteous deed was done to foster the host political career. The funny aspect of this is that, those criticizing the political figure might even have what it takes for donation but they chose criticism over righteous deeds.

‎I'm not saying the person might not have another agenda behind his donation but let's pause for a sec and think about the good things the donation will do to the lives of the recipient. The orphanage for instance, Do you think those children would really care about the intention behind the donation? You might say that the political figure has taken advantage of their innocence. You might be right but you have forgotten that those children might have been suffering and that donation might be the only thing that ensures their survival. That donation you criticize the intention behind it might be the only solution that would make sure those children don't have to go to bed hungry.

‎As long as the act of charity is not offered in an ill mannered way or depicts a dubious intention, as long as it remains within what is lawful, moral and of ethical conduct there is no reason why I would doubt the intention, there is no reason why the intention should have more importance than the act of charity.
‎
‎Am I in need of the charity or not, that is the question I would ask myself, if truly I'm, regardless of the person intention, as long as the charity is given through illegal means, I don't really care much about the person's intention. Does it not sound funny, for someone to be in need of help and find someone who is willing to offer it for free and yet we are still worried about their intention, to me it is a sign of mediocrity.

One of the most trending habit these days is known as scamming which is a major profession these days. In this era of technological advancements, it has made it a lot easier for both fraudster and scammers, especially internet fraudster who map out their victim through different schemes and tricks. It has become more difficult to avoid them these days because they are everywhere.
‎
‎There are lot of strategies used by scammers but everything is dependent on how good they are in influencing a person's greed. They offer a lot of good stuff that doesn't seem to require much effort and one thing I know about humans is every body likes free stuff.
‎
‎You might try to deny it but the truth is we all have a price, though it might not be monetary but it is something. Knowing how humans think and majority of humans lack contentment, scammers come around making irresistible offers. The funny thing about their tactics is every victim of a scammer experience a moment of clarity which reminds them of the potential risk they are taking, for some people this wake up call prevents them from being scammed but for others that are blinded by greed, it has no effect.

‎Few years ago, before my final year project, i was really in need of a new laptop because the old one i was using was giving me a lot of difficulties. Knowing that I will soon be offering project service for people, I started saving money till when I was ready to purchase a laptop, I was feeling too reluctant to visit computer village not because i was lazy but I was considering how much it will cost me to travel from Abeokuta, Ogun State to computer village in Ikeja, Lagos State. knowing the cost of the laptop I was aiming for, I tried cutting cost as much as I could.

‎One day, I was viewing WhatsApp status when I discovered that one of my contact seems to be into sales of laptop. I decided to check him out though I'm not a fan of online vendors but I believed if is business was legit it will do me a lot of good by patronising him and moreover he was staying in Abeokuta. I sent him a DM and we started negotiating. From our conversation he seems to be a nice person, well I guess I was wrong. We discussed for days while he sent me a lot of pictures of the laptops he has in store. My former laptop was Lenovo ideapad 2 but I wanted to try something new by going for HP.
‎
‎The picture he sent to me, a particular HP EliteBook caught my attention, I picked it and we discussed about the laptop but the price just seem too cheap for that kind of laptop model, that made me feel a little uneasy. After much discussion, he suggested I pay and the laptop will be delivered to me but I'm too paranoid to agree with his suggestion. So he promised to deliver it to me in person which seems like a very nice idea.

‎A day before the day we agreed to meet he texted me and said something came up he wouldn't be able to show up. He apologized and asked me if we could reschedule I said no problem because I felt such things do happen. The date of our meeting came and he gave me another excuse, I grew impatient and informed him that he shouldn't worry I will get it somewhere else. He started begging and asked me to be patient, he explained to me that he doesn't have the laptop in stock and he doesn't have enough money on him to purchase the laptop and if I could support him with half of the money then he will add the rest and purchase the laptop.

‎We humans are social beings and we grow in phases. The most common phase for every human is our childhood days, when we were still children and know so little about the ways of the world. Our knowledge of the future was limited, we think so little while we grow within a comfort system. In the process of this we become familiar with our surroundings and build a circle within it. People we consider as age mates, colleagues at school, people we could associate with.
‎
‎We form this bonds during our childhood days not knowing how long it will last or what life has in store for everyone of us. During our childhood days, the friends we make are often categorized as our childhood friends. For someone like me that moved from one place to another during my childhood days, it is quite difficult for me to begin to think of people who I would consider as my childhood friends. I mean I moved to different places, it is only natural that I form new bonds with new people, leaving those I used to be with behind.
‎
‎Speaking of a reunion with my childhood friends, I don't think that is even a thing. The truth is, for some of these people, I can barely remember their names, though I'm someone who often speak of my ability to remember people's face. The way my memory work is quite odd sometimes, I might not be able to remember a person's name but just by looking at them, I can tell for sure that I knew the person. Some of the memories I have about my childhood friends has faded over the years or replaced by another memory. If I were to find myself gathering in a room with most of them, I might not even recognize them anymore. This is not just about my memories only, most of us think so little of how life can change a person within just a year, not to talk of decades.
‎
‎Some of these people have gone through life changing experience that has either change them for the better or worse. Which means the idea of who we used to be and whatever felt familiar among us is long gone. Most of them have become new version of themselves, a version I might not even recognize. This change is not really applicable to them only, I have changed also. In a way, we are no longer who we used to be, so even if a reunion were to happen, there is a very high chance that we would stare at ourselves with nothing to talk about.
‎
‎We have become strangers to ourselves, speaking of how long the conversation will last, will it even begin at all? Because I kept wandering, what exactly would we discuss about? We are talking about childhood friends, the memories we might have of each other is that of when we were children and how many people remember such memories? We can't reignite what is no longer there because we have all become a stranger to one another, which is something life does to everyone.

‎There is a statement that has always been the anchor of every form of government, which is the supremacy of the law. In every country, in order to enjoy a peaceful and fair human society, there needs to be a constitution, written or unwritten, there have to be something that the government uses as a measure to determine crimes and to reassure the citizens justice exist. Which means if anyone goes contrary to the stated laws and policies there is a justification for punishing the offender.
‎
‎One of the things that makes law effective is the fact that, no one should be above the law, but believing this is equal to believing a snake can crawl backwards. Everyone in power wants the citizens to believe that the law is above everyone including them, which is a myth. There are people in the government that the law is just a play thing to them. They have grown so mighty that everyone that is expected to enforce the law and punish them for their crimes is already a junior colleague to them or on their payroll but this not my greatest concern.
‎
‎The atrocities committed by those in power is something that is obvious to everyone but here is the issue. Whenever anyone wants to form an argument, they start criticizing those in power, highlighting their atrocities, This I can understand. The part I disagree with is when people start saying, if they were in that position they would do better, that is the one thing I would never believe. I have seen how people behave when they find themselves in a position of authority, ordinary CDA chairman would abuse the little authority placed on him/her.
‎
‎Then you would wonder, if someone at the lowest level of authority could behave like this, how would they behave if they are placed in the highest point of authority. Most people don't understand how easy it is to become power drunk.
‎
‎I had an experience some time ago, with one of the community leaders in my area. There is a policy created and implemented by people inmy area which is "no heavy duty truck will be allowed into our streets after 8pm". This is due to all these street boys that goes to people's land and perform illegal digging of sand. This policy has been around for long, which everyone of us abide by, including construction workers in our area.
‎
‎Recently, one of our community leaders was working on his site, I don't really know what happened, but he decided to bring in those heavy duty truck into our street. Those that had the key to the gate refused to release the key due to the policy that was on ground. This man got really angry and was saying the policy does not apply to him. This is the same man who has denied a lot people entry but when it got to his turn, he felt he is too big to abide by the law.

‎This man got in a physical fight with the vigilantes at the gate and even dared to slap one of them. This got me thinking, so these man believes everyone can follow the law except him. This is how citizens in different sectors behave when they are in a position of authority. They suddenly feel like the law does not apply to them and it is something that makes me feel sorry for the future of my country. Everyone feels like they can get the job done but what about the little authority they have presently, what are they doing with it?

‎In the country I'm from, the best way to avoid being buried by the economy hardship is to learn how to get things done yourself. We have lot of people with all kind of skills, though they might not have a professional certification for it but they can still get the job done when needed. We have lot of business owners in today's society that have automatically become content creators, editors, photographers. To some, this might just have happened accidentally while trying to beat cost but somehow we all discover a talent we never thought we had.
‎
‎What are the things I can do myself? Well a lot. Let's talk about academic related skills. I'm a man of diverse knowledge in different areas, my primary aim has always been to live an impactful life. My life has always directed by purpose which has led me into pursuing different career opportunities. As a certified graduate of mass communication, Based on the knowledge acquired as a broadcast student and from leading groups of students in founding a community media channel whose first assignment was to create a documentary that exposes all manner of exploitation experienced by the residence of a community.
‎
‎A documentary video that can be found on 3speak for reference purpose. Through this assignment and other related works in this category, I was able to acquire appealing script writing skills that helps turn words into recordings. Over the years, I have assisted so of my friends with script related task when needed. Apart from this, last year when I was asked to come up with drama idea for my church drama group, I wrote a script for it, they were like, do you want to produce a movie?
‎
‎What about social media related skills? This year when I established my fabric store, I was definitely in need professional social platform for it, I knew I could do it but at first I was feeling reluctant and extremely lazy. So I decided to contact a guy that does it for a living, the way this guy billed me, it created a spark of creativity in me. I was forced to do it myself, the designs, setup, details e.t.c it turned out really great, even I was surprised.
‎
‎Another one relating to what I just said is building a business profile on Google maps business, I was a little skeptical about it but knowing how location barrier can affect my fabric store and moreover, when people can easily find your business location, it boast customer's trust. I tried to make findings and I discovered how much people are charging for this, for something that is completely free. I still end up doing it myself. You can search "Dreem elite garment store - Degs" see what I did with no professional assistance.

‎What about handcraft, well that is just beyond explanation lol. Anything I find my hands doing, I get it done. The areas I'm most crafty is agriculture, barbing and hairdressing, fixing tools, painting, plumbing e.t.c You might be wondering, what exactly is this guy? I once wrote a post about everyone in my family learning craft before pursuing higher education, it is like a tradition.

‎Well the agriculture aspect, I picked up some skills from late grandmother, then it grew from there over the years. I learnt barbing before I gained admission, for hairdressing - I picked it up from my mum, the same for plumbing skills, I gained some ideas from my dad. Painting - I learnt this from school, it is just an idea but I got better at it but you see the fixing of tools that is just an obsession from my childhood days. Anything electronic that is not too sophisticated, I fix it. I guess you can call me Mr. multipurpose lol.

‎Having a pet is a normal tradition among humans, we all keep pet for different reasons. Some for security purpose, which used to be one of the major reasons why people keep pet in those days. When I say for security, it is not just about protecting our lives and property from thieves, there are other things that endanger humans, especially those that live so close to wildlife. The most evolving of all reasons for keeping pet is for companionship.
‎
‎People keep all kinds of animals as pet these days, even venomous snakes have also made the list of the kind pet people prefer. I'm not a fan of such things, I'm too terrified to get close to a worm or centipede, not to talk of something that can actually do me serious harm, either intentionally or not.
‎
‎So if I were to keep a pet, which one will it be? I must emphasize on the fact that I don't have any pet presently, for personal reasons but I have always wanted one. I have always wanted a dog but I still can't conclude on the breed I prefer, there are lot of amazing look breeds these days. In as much as I want a pet, I don't want my environment to become a zoo, which is one of the reasons why I need to figure out which one it will be. ‎The second on the list used to be a cat, I used to admire those creatures but there are some kind of issues attached to it. While a dog can still stick with staying in the dog house, cats are like house furnitures. They stay within the house and ever since one of my friends complained about his cat killing rats and bringing it to his bed, from that moment I was sure a cat is definitely a no for me. What about triming their nails regularly to avoid getting scratched by their paws.

‎Apart from all these, keeping cat is kind of amazing, they look cute and all but I'm still a dog person. A dog just have lot of use cases compared to a cat, this is just my own preference. I can't really say for sure what I would consider as the hardest part of taking care of a pet, I have never had one before but probably the training I guess. I see some pets doing some amazing stuff and I'm like, who schooled this pet? someone most have invested a lot of money, time and effort to make sure their pet is well educated.

‎There are all kinds of news, stories and information that goes viral on a daily basis. There is always something to talk about, that is one of the most beautiful things about the human society. But then, it is not everything that goes viral that actually matters, some are just gossip and such things tends to fade very quickly. Whereas there are some conversation that never fades, the rate at which it is discussed might reduce over a period of time, especially when there is gossip or some inappropriate content or tragic incident that buries it relevance for a period of time.

‎But then, It always reemerge because it is something that affect each and everyone of us. Which means we might forget about it for awhile or be distracted by something less relevant but eventually, when we feel the stings and it hurts once again, it becomes public discuss ones again. In every country, there is always a subject that remains in everyone's lips, well in my own country, it is the election. It is not really the time of election yet but it is getting near.

‎What is going viral is not really the election but the circumstances that surrounds it. The last election didn't actually go the way people wanted or should I say, the election didn't go the way people on social media wanted. What later became obvious to a lot of people after the election is that, the noise on social media does not necessarily determine the candidate, it is those that constitute the larger percentage of voting power that determines who is elected and people in this category are not on social media.

‎A lot of them are not even educated, there are different isolated areas far from the eyes of the public, they know very little of whatever is being discussed or the full capacity of their vote, with just a little promise of a better tomorrow or little stipend they will vote like flies. But that is not the only issue, some believe the commission in charge of conducting elections in my country are not as trustworthy as they claim. It looks true from the evidence on ground, we have obvious reasons to believe some of them are a member of a political party despite the non-partisan policy.

‎Now it is not just about the voting power anymore, the integrity of of the commission is in question, which means people believe that, even if they vote as they should, their vote might not really count. This has become public knowledge for the people in my country and the way this present administration is ruling the country, is not as favourable as they claim it would be in their electoral manifesto. The real issue is the feeling of powerlessness, in the Sense that, even if we are not happy with the administration, how do we push them out when there obvious reasons to believe our vote don't count?

‎A lot people have suffered immense pain this year, from banditry to bad economy, lack of social amenities and the nonchalant attitude of our government. This has raised a lot of concerns among the people in my country, can we continue like this? even if the answer is no, the fact that we can't do anything about it is terrifying. You might argue otherwise, but who wants to risk their lives for a country that seems to be going downhill, those that sacrificed their lives in lekki toll gate must be weeping in their graves. Because from my own end, their sacrifice barely changed anything.

‎Despite how bad things have gotten, our presido is campaigning to be reelected for second term despite what we suffered during his first term. Everyone is currently on edge, looking for ways they wouldn't suffer the same date like the first term. Some are trying to get involved politically, to change how things are being done, while some are trying to save their skin, by looking for ways to travel abroad.
