The Podcast isnt dead. Just this account.
The podcast lives on on 3Speak and Aureal. If you are just following this account on Hive then please go follow my main account @unklebonehead

I will no longer post to this account and probably not even log in to check it. If it continues to gain rewards for anything I may log in and transfer those to my main account.

Again please go follow my main account of @unklebonehead

Is it the end? Yes and no

decentracast — Mon, 22 Nov 2021 11:59:27 GMT

In some recent episodes I've mentioned that I will be killing my alt accounts for the podcasts. Including this one. I will no longer be posting to the @decentracast account. Which means that the domain https://decentracast.xyz will still point here. The audio podcast is now hosted at Aureal and you can find the links to subscribe below. The videos are still on 3Speak but will come from my @unklebonehead account.
NTROradio podcast is officially dead. I will still post blog posts of artists to https://ntroradio.rocks. But I will no longer produce the audio/video podcasts of it. It's a lot of work I do not have time to do those anymore.

DecentraCast S1Ep21 How to Buy Games With Pizza & HBD!

Hive is contantly amazing me everyday.

Back on Episod 19 I mentioned that you could buy Steam games from Hive.Pizza.

Well they went and wrote a tutorial on their blog on how to do it. It's a very straight forward and simple thing to do. So why arent you over there buying games?

Follow their tutorial!

If you would like to support me outside of Hive

I can make do for now with what I have. But it isnt easy and very unreliable equipment. This build would be the first "new" computer I've ever had.

I dont expect anybody to help me with this but if you can it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you if you can.

DecentraCast S1Ep20 Vessel Desktop A Hive Wallet

What is Vessell?

Vessel is a desktop Hive wallet for Windows, mac and Linux. It's a beautiful ap that is working absolutely great for me.
I'll be honest I don't know everything it can do but it's fricking awesome.

It's encrypted if you choose just in case you loose your laptop or it gets stolen. So your Hive is well protected.

Here is the source code if you want to compile it.

And here you can get the binaires if you dont want to compile and just want to install and go!

In the video I install it on ElementaryyOS 6 Odin using dpkg on the deb file. It took my slow pc a little to install since I was live streaming the desktop and recording at the same time. But note that when I installed it on my ThinkPad it was done extremely fast.

These two lists are what I need to build a streaming pc. The main parts are available on Amazon while there are 3 items that are cheaper at Newegg. The total build is currently coming in at ;$912 as of 10/01/21.

Drawing the Line in the Defense of Others

What I am talking about

I started out talking about how good ElementaryOs is to use. It's pretty light weight and just buzzes along and gets out of your way to let you work.

I talk about the philosophy of switching all the apps to flatpaks and how much better it actually is in practice for the Linux ecosystem as a whole.

They have done so good and gotten big enough to start to influence upstream projects such as Gnome.

It truly is a beautiful, easy to use distro that just works!

Then I went down a rabbit hole with some recent drama

Recently a somewhat large Linux "personality" thought it would be a good idea to spout his thoughts on the way some software developers live their lives outside of developing software.

He is entitled to his views. But he not known for (at least has made it his career's objective) to voicing his opinions on anything outside of Linux and tech. He's not listened to for his "lifes opinions". Much like when multi million dollar rock stars, athletes and actors/actresses spout their opinions on how much poor, average, everyday people that have to do manual labor to buy food paycheck to paycheck. Just shut up and throw the ball, play the song or say your line with emotion.

So sorry I got a little political in this. But ya know, sometimes you have to in the defense of others.

Moral of the story dont be a dick.

Ecency

Just a quick run through of the dapp Ecency. IMO it's the best and easiest frontend to the Hive social media blockchain.
It's a webapp, it's a cross platform desktop app and it's even got android and ios apps!
It's intuitive and easy to use so get started at https://ecency.com

You can use my referral link if you want but it's definitely not required. I dont think I recieve any monetary rewards if you do. And they are not sposors of this episode.

Back on 01/08/21 I published a 30 minute long video to 3Speak that I called The Ultimate dBlog Tutorial. The link is below.
I just wanted to touch on it lightly again even though it's still completely relevant. I still think that it is the most undervalied
dapp in the Hive ecosystem. If you want to watch the full tutorial and can stand looking at my real face you can go watch it on 3Speak.

DecentraCast S1Ep14 You Did What?

decentracast — Sun, 10 Oct 2021 21:00:09 GMT

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

So I might be crazy but...

You may have noticed from the last 2 videos that I've been using an avatar instead of my face. I guess you could say I've
been in transition, lol. I'm switching over to being a Vtuber. Why? Am I a weeb? NO Am I big anime fan? NO. I just think it's
a cool and rather easy way to make more interesting conent. I find it much more interesting to watch an animated avatar
on screen than a static picture on the desktop.

This avatar is just one that I came up with all quick and dirty like. I'm using veetuber-mini to animate the png files and it just
opens in OBS Studio as a window capture. It's pretty slick and looks to be easy to set up and just fire up obs in the future and pound
out episodes.

It uses hardly any resources on my old Frankenputer so I may try doing some streaming with it. Hopefully this works out as a cool segqayinto building my full streamer.

I'll do a more indepth video on how I set it up if anybody is interested.

This avatar will not be the same one I use all the time. I have my daughter working on making me one similar to this one but a full body one that I can then puppeteer the head and arms with it.

I chose this mainly because I think it's cool. But I would be remiss if I didnt also admit I looked pretty hard at it because literally nobody else on 3Speak is doing any Vtubing or PNGTubing. I just think its cool and cant wait to do more.

Till next time. Be good and be safe and never stick your finger where you wouldnt stick your face!
