As I mentioned in my post the other day, my wife and I took a trip this past weekend. We had wanted to go somewhere earlier in the year when my sister in law and I both turned 50, but at the time she wasn't interested in going anywhere. Then, a few months later she decided that it might be cool to take a quick weekend trip. We kicked around a few ideas, and it just so happened that we settled on Austin Texas as our destination. It just so happened to fall on the same weekend that @mrsbozz and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary, so it all worked out really well.

![28119d3a-68b8-40c6-acfa-a86269fc3aad.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/243BbyiVWSrn8pCFzUSbdEAbMixx4wesP27i4gBCTFy8JdxyAZCFqjvHVAx21217dU9du.jpg)

We worked a half day on Thursday, then made the four hour drive down to Columbus, Ohio so we could all fly together down to Austin. Of course, things don't always go as planned, and while we felt we had plenty of time to get down there, we got stuck in traffic and it ended up being cut pretty close. It turned out a person driving a backhoe in a construction area had accidentally hit the power lines and they had to close down the whole interstate in one section. This backed up traffic for miles. Obviously, we made it in time, but as soon as we got to our relatives, we had to load up into the car and head for the airport. Needless to say it was hectic!

![PXL_20261015_215308260.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/23wCJESTbSGuSkXSyrCb6xYpCiFAFfCQfN2W2UBRYp9aCgGEznDQ976AaMHwkA629uKjf.jpg)

We ended up getting through security a lot quicker than we had anticipated, so we decided to kick the celebratory weekend off with some massively overpriced drinks at the Chili's in the airport. If you have a sharp eye, you might notice there are five drinks in the photo above. That was my mistake. It was one of those use the QR code things to order your food and drinks and I accidentally ordered one too many Modelos. We ended up splitting it between my brother in law and I.

![PXL_20261016_012921513.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/23swbmtHXjFL4mGY7veysBdc7kP7wrozz52hNErtCi4UvE8QGbrzW3kGNY9E5GFjPnoJx.jpg)

We flew from Columbus to Dallas, then we had a short layover before we made the half hour flight from Dallas to Austin. It ended up being a longer layover than we expected as bad weather was moving through the Austin area and they had to push the flight back a bit.

![PXL_20261016_014452887.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/23swnH6aGNTtQwnNovCFSMa4RfLWwjZLMeSpk8D8fbAU5g5qyh9gEomxFD5SqshoWv3Ts.jpg)

Which means we didn't arrive in Austin until about 1 in the morning central time. My brother in law was worried about our rental car not being available, so the first thing he did after we got our luggage was head to the counter.

They had some bad news and good news for us. The bad news was, the car that our brother in law had rented was no longer available. The good news was, they were going to upgrade us to make up for it.

![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/23xKp7aHsiWQfws29zFMSCf4nWLJ1kY1jou8beUAEpSHmu7HSyFd1AYhQeGSwN3gbKUTx.png)

![PXL_20261016_173450477.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/23wMcgRLBjCJSmsiFZZqrZhDix7MeiiChtmRrEHTnwxWPjCN2VA6NRcYPjqSB9W87o25g.jpg)

We ended up in this pretty sweet Mercedes GLE 350. It was comfortable and it got us everywhere we needed to go while we were in Austin. The only drawback was, with a ride this sweet, we didn't get to take advantage of the self driving cars while we were there!

Today the ANC started their election campaign with regard to the local municipality elections which are 2 weeks away on the 4th November. I have never paid attention to these types of things as all political parties lie to some degree and the ANC is no different.

The six point pledge got me however as they are promising to fix the things they have broken and had the audacity to blame the infrastructure on the previous Apartheid government. That was 32 years ago so hardly an excuse that can still be sued yet they said they inherited the infrastructure which besides the obvious was working back then. This was never mentioned for reasons we all know as this 6 point pledge is all about gaining votes from their own supporters who are looking for other candidates.

This is more about panic stations for the ANC as they face a definite challenge from other parties who all have a realistic chance of winning. The problem with the mass voters is they will dilute their vote due to ignorance which allows a party like the Democratic Alliance to sneak in under the radar mainly supported by educated being the middle and upper class.

source

The ANC has been failing to deliver for years with regard to accountability and spend of municipal budgets with little or no maintenance happening and the focus on stealing those funds. There has been no service delivery resulting in failed infrastructure due to financial mismanagement.

the ANC has been in power for 32 years so why would anyone believe this will have a different outcome because they are saying so? Without stating the obvious the people expect drinking water, reliable electricity, refuse collections and maintained infrastructure like roads and working traffic lights. In most cases for the masses this is not happening and this is going to be an impossible sell because enough is enough.

The 6 pints of the ANC pledge are actually quite laughable and you wonder how they had the audacity to even read this out. The one reading it out was no other than Cyril Ramaphosa who is as weak as they come.

Reliable and affordable basic services. Upgrading electricity infrastructure and repairing water pipes. The water supply has got to a critical point where more water is lost per liter delivered to the taps through broken pipes.

Local Job creation. Unemployment at an all time high with no solution yet they talk about job creation.

Safer streets and cleaner neighborhoods. This is the job of a municipality already so this is what should have been happening all along so nothing new it just never happened. Services actually cost the tax payers more money because we pay for a police force yet we have to hire private security companies to protect our suburbs.

Financial Sustainability and Accountability. they have committed to funding unfunded budgets with regard to the auditor generals findings. Applying anti corruption measures and making councilors accountable. Again this should be the normal and not something you have to spell out due to it not happening and this has all happened under their governance.

Maintenance and Audit goals. Aiming for a 50% pass rate on municipal audits is not a goal one should be setting as they should all be 100% with the new accountability in place.

First 100 days will have a public report drawn up proving the changes that are being made.

This is desperation if you have ever seen desperation because everything pointed out is what should have been happening from day one 32 years ago. Everyone knows there will be no change and what was quite telling is the Sowetan Newspaper saying to their readers please vote these fools out.

source

The white "Gogo" granny is a serious threat with growing support due to her stunts on this election campaign to become mayor of Johannesburg. From swimming in potholes with goggles and a snorkel to highlighting the abandoned Johannesburg administration building which is still serviceable and a new building is not required. the ANC is in deep trouble as all their faults have been pointed out to the public through each stunt.

Looking at these pictures from the Museo de la Cultura in my city, I see young people wearing their identities without asking for permission. Goths, punks, cosplayers, kids with their own ideas about fashion, music, gender, and what it means to belong to something. I can't help comparing their experience with what previous generations had to endure. I know comparison has become an uncomfortable exercise in a culture that treats every judgment as an attack, but refusing to compare doesn't make history disappear. Some of us grew up watching people get mocked, excluded, or treated as social problems because they looked different. These kids get to gather, dress up, take pictures, meet people who share their interests, and occupy a public space without their existence being the main controversy. I find that worth celebrating. They might not even realize what a privilege that is, and I don't blame them. You can't miss something you never had to live without.

There is a strange contradiction in the way we talk about identity. We celebrate diversity when it fits the language of inclusion, but we can become suspicious when individuality takes a form that challenges our ideas about discipline, effort, responsibility, or character. I have nothing against the freedom to explore who you are. I think people should have room to do that without being reduced to a stereotype. What bothers me is the assumption that identity has value only when it serves a fashionable narrative. Being a punk, a goth, or a member of any subculture might seem trivial next to the serious problems of the world. Poverty, violence, political corruption, and the erosion of human dignity deserve our attention. Nobody needs to pretend that a pair of platform boots will save civilization. But personal expression has its own significance. Choosing how to look, what to listen to, and which community to join can be a way of refusing to become another copy of the people around you. In a society that rewards conformity, even the decision to look strange can carry a little courage.

What I appreciate about these young people is not that they have found the perfect way to express themselves. They haven't, and they don't need to. Their clothes might change next year. Their music tastes might evolve, their friendships might end, and the identities they defend today might become memories they laugh about ten years from now. That's part of growing up. What matters to me is the freedom to experiment without having every stage of that process turned into a public trial. I see creativity, attitude, and a willingness to make room for people who don't fit the same mold. The photographs from the museum capture something beyond an event or a collection of outfits. They show young people making themselves visible in a society that has spent generations telling people which appearances deserve respect. There is something worth protecting in that. I don't need to share someone's aesthetic or understand every reference to recognize their right to exist without being treated as a joke.

These kids are collecting a harvest planted by people who came before them. Every generation that challenged a dress code, questioned a social convention, or refused to hide an unpopular interest helped make this kind of gathering possible. The victories were not always dramatic. Sometimes they meant surviving school without surrendering your identity. Sometimes they meant finding three other people who liked the same music when everyone else thought you were ridiculous. Sometimes they meant accepting that your own family might never understand you. The people who endured those experiences rarely had the luxury of knowing whether their resistance would lead anywhere. They did what they could with the freedom available to them, and younger people inherited a little more room to breathe. I find that thought moving because social progress is rarely experienced by the people who make it as a finished achievement. Someone has to endure the ridicule before someone else can wear the same clothes and turn up at a cultural event without making a declaration of war against respectable society.

This time, we’ll continue discussing more Alternative Rock bands that influenced me during my teenage years and early adulthood. But before we continue, I want to remind you that this section exists thanks to the weekly contest hosted by our colleague @ablaze in the Music community, called “Three Tunes Tuesday.”

Today I’m going to talk about Gorillaz, a British virtual Alternative Rock band created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett in 1998 (the year I was born). The virtual band gained worldwide popularity in the early 2000s thanks to the successful release of their first studio album. Gorillaz is known for being an experimental musical and audiovisual project that even features a variety of stories, characters, and an entire universe depicted in their various music videos. The fictional members of this band are: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russell Hobbs.

Source: Gorillaz.

One of the first—if not the very first—songs I ever heard by this famous virtual band, which is also one of the most popular tracks in their extensive and experimental musical repertoire. It’s part of a short list of songs by this fictional group that I remember most clearly and have listened to the most since I first discovered them when I was just a teenager. “19-2000” is the second single from the band’s self-titled debut album, released in 2001. The song is easily recognizable for its catchy beat, blending Trip-Hop with Funk, among other computer-generated sounds.

This town is more or less (visually speaking) the same most of the time, although its light, its temperature, the faces of its inhabitants certainly change depending on the day and their mood, as does the pace at which things happen, and so on. In other words, the town is always more or less the same town, but not quite. But, setting aside this uncertainty inherent in my perspective as a photographer, what is always more or less the same in the town are the "folds" of poetry hidden within its scenes; be it an empty street, the fog, or someone going about their daily routine; the town always conceals and reveals glimpses of poetry... And this, obviously, I say from the perspective of a somewhat strange fellow who wanders the streets with a camera in his hand while everyone else seems to be doing their usual things, what they need to do to exist and keep going...

Things in the streets, still scenes, empty and full spaces, sometimes seen and sometimes passed by, occasionally seem to want to call out and say something like: "Hey you, look at me, I've changed, I'm not the same today," and then I usually stop and take a picture, or step back and take a picture, or keep going and turn around and take another picture... This is something of instinct and feelings; you have to know how to find those tiny changes and record them... Yes, there is clearly, or perhaps it's just me who finds it, something poetic in all of this...

I hope you are all well, I am well too, so after a long day of research, today we have once again created a beautiful character for this game, whose name is ermy. I saw a picture on the internet that I found quite beautiful, so after looking at this reference picture, I created this beautiful painting in which there is a beautiful character from this game who is on the snow. I thought it was a very beautiful character, so I created this complete painting.

He is sitting in a place and there is a beautiful place there, it is grassy and he is holding a beautiful umbrella. It is raining, so I have created this theme. I had previously created this character, the face part of it, which was quite difficult, but it was also quite beautiful because I like all the characters in this game a lot, they are quite beautiful, so I have to say here that I will keep trying, whenever I get time, I will definitely create one of my favorite characters from them.

The name of this character is also quite beautiful and looks very good. So what I have to say here is that when I made the upper part of it, it looked very beautiful. It is a snow character, so it was a rainy one. I gave it to him. So here, first I made his eyes, and then I made the lower part, and then I made his back. You can see in the pictures how long it took to make it, how many days it took to complete it.

I keep making it little by little every day, it is not made continuously. And then I slowly started making butterflies all over the background, which were much more beautiful and made with much more effort. These kinds of characters always look very beautiful whenever we see them somewhere, in a mountainous area or somewhere where there is a garden, just like we saw this one. I have loved gaming for a long time, in fact, since childhood, and we have been playing different types of games,

So now we have seen that we are also being given the opportunity to earn money through games. If we are given a method, then this thing is much better. Earlier, when people used to play games, people used to say that time is being wasted. Rather, I have to say here that by playing games, we spend our time well and we do not even get into bad habits.

Rather, we sit at home and continue playing games. You are also earning money through games in different ways, like the Sprinter Land game and there are many other such games.

This is a game that was very famous in its time and is still very famous. There are many more characters in this game that I like a lot and I have created many characters. You can also see all my old posts. So this is an effort to gradually create all the other characters and gain more complete knowledge about this game.

Queens Of The Stone Age: Way, Way More Than Just Another Rock Band

Source Sometimes I think people hear Queens of the Stone Age and put them in a very specific box.

Sometimes I think people hear Queens of the Stone Age and put them in a very specific box. A bunch of guys making good rock music, a little dirty, a little macho, the kind of thing you associate with bikers or men who think they have a natural talent for seducing younger women. And sure, I get where that impression comes from. There is something undeniably seductive about their sound, something provocative, even sexual, in the way those guitars move and the rhythms settle into your body. But reducing QOTSA to that is missing the point entirely. These guys have a particular way of making rock sound dangerous without having to prove anything to anybody. Their music can be heavy, hypnotic, strange, introspective, and ridiculously catchy without sacrificing its personality. I don't need a band to explain its artistic intentions to me through interviews or manifestos. Give me a song that makes me feel something I can't quite put into words, and I'll figure out the rest myself. Queens of the Stone Age have been doing that for decades, and I think that deserves far more recognition than the usual descriptions of them as another cool rock band.

Their history matters, too. Before Queens of the Stone Age, there was Kyuss, one of the defining bands of the desert rock and stoner rock scenes, with Josh Homme among its founding members. That history is important because QOTSA didn't emerge out of nowhere with a convenient sound and a marketing strategy. There was a musical world behind them, a scene, an instinct, years of experimentation, and a willingness to take heavy rock somewhere else. The band that followed wasn't simply a continuation of Kyuss, and that is precisely what makes its evolution interesting. The sound changed, the musicians came and went, the circumstances changed, and the people making the music grew older. Think about what three decades can do to a person. Now imagine a band going through all that while continuing to make music that feels unmistakably its own. Queens of the Stone Age released in 2017, and their most recent studio album, arrived in 2023. Their story is still unfolding. Longevity alone doesn't make an artist great, of course. Plenty of bands stick around long after they have anything meaningful left to say. What interests me about QOTSA is that their survival has come with a willingness to change without surrendering the identity that made them worth listening to in the first place.

I have a particular appreciation for artists who seem to understand that making art is already a serious enough undertaking without turning themselves into full-time spokespersons for every cause, controversy, or political position that demands public attention. I know, that's an unpopular opinion in certain circles. We're living through a period when people often expect musicians to be activists, commentators, representatives, and moral authorities, sometimes before they are even allowed to be musicians. I'm not saying artists should stay silent about politics, and I'm certainly not arguing that music exists outside society. That's nonsense. Art is shaped by the world, whether its creators acknowledge it or not. But I don't believe every artist owes me a public declaration of principles before I can appreciate their work. With Queens of the Stone Age, what I value is the commitment to the music itself. They are rock musicians who make rock music because that's what they do, and their work doesn't need to be packaged as a social mission to justify its existence. Maybe that sounds like a small thing, but it isn't. There's a difference between having something to say and constantly needing to demonstrate that you have something to say. I would rather listen to an artist who trusts the work to speak for itself than one who seems terrified of being irrelevant unless they are participating in every conversation.

It's another beautiful Tuesday. A day for #ttt. Thanks to @abaze for the beautiful initiative.

On today's #ttt I will be sharing random songs from different artists.

The first on my list is ...

https://youtu.be/XDdjJNkObuo?si=3Y_sY-AeN1JRzwkG

Jojo- Baby It's You

The intro of the song hits differently..

Hive used to be very full and active. Today, many are inactive and I miss reading their blogs so much.

I used to have favorite authors whom I look forward to reading their post, but today they've all gone.

I still visit their blog hoping that they'll breeze in one day.

It's quite tiring seeing the change, but we keep going.

https://youtu.be/NJsa6-y4sDs?si=h175VGRvvoqiROgf

I'm Alive - Celine Dion

In everything one remains hopefully once there's still life.

Life is a tough ride but I'm alive. That's a huge blessing.

This is an evergreen song . Some songs never fade and this is one.

https://youtu.be/v-Dur3uXXCQ?si=f4nYNVAamtyYr7Lb

Kesha- Praying

In everything you find, find peace.

People change just like season. Some disappointments make us stronger and even when you didn't find closure from them, move on knowing that inner peace is the goal.

This song still remain green as well. Always timely when it feel hard to let go.
